The way Matt speaks as a DM can seem a bit evasive, because in order to keep immersion, he tries not to just out-and-out tell players things that their characters wouldn't know. So he uses certain phrases that suggest to them what's going on without stating it directly. So when he says that something is "not doing as much as you would expect," that is almost always code for an enemy having resistance to a certain type of damage - radiant, fire, force, etc. And many enemies are resistant to non-magical damage - this would be slashing, piercing or bludgeoning damage done by a non-magical weapon. When he's describing Beau's punches kind of sinking in and not doing much, that is probably what he is implying is happening. And that's why it's important that at a certain level, monks' fists do magical damage! Beau is not there yet, though. Another thing is when he says 'seems to be.' While it's not always 100% certain, usually what he means by this is 'you are guessing right but I'm not going to just tell you.' So 'seems to be' Siff's ashes pretty much means, yup, you're right, those are his ashes, but there wouldn't be a way for the characters to know for sure, since they don't have like. DNA kits. So he won't just tell them 'those are Siff's ashes,' because that would break immersion, but he will hint that that's the most likely scenario.

Tallisons character is a homemade class created by matt..that's why he knows all about it. Same with tashsas and Caleb's subclass
