yeah the aunts where the first confirmed canon gay couple in the show and yes her parents are inspired by the croc hunter. we never saw any of them before and this episode was done to finally solve the biggest head cannon that scoots was an orphan for years the fandom had seen her as one because she had no parents and didn't live any where as far as we saw. next two episodes are good they where the mid season hiatus and both are fan faves

The episode where Twilight had a late book could be interpreted as saying that at minimum 3 years have passed since the beginning of the series (1000 bit late fee/28 per month). If this is the case then Scootaloo would be 13/14. However, in all honesty, it doesn't make much sense that it's only been three years. The show still mostly treats the CMC's like kids at this point but based on stuff with the Mane 6 I'd say at least 4-5 years have passed since season one of the show.
