Hey just a heads up, there’s a movie that comes after this season and is canon. It’s called My Little Pony: Equestria Girls! There’s 4 of these movies and they come after Seasons 3,4,5 and 6 respectively. The theatrical released My Little Pony: The Movie (2017) should be watched after Season 7 and some characters from that movie show up in the show for Seasons 8 and 9. So please watch these movies, they’re a lot of fun!

Only alicorns have extended lifespans for ponies, the crystal ponies only lived this long because the entire empire straight up disappeared, and now it’s back because of the spell that banished it and Sombra weakening over time.

Season 2 premiere villain was Discord, the Spirit of Chaos. Ponies have normal lifespans, with the exception of alicorns and some powerful unicorns who can live for thousands of years, and we saw a death in Hearts and Hooves Day where the CMCs sung at a funeral. The Crystal Ponies, however, were cursed to be erased from existence by Sombra. When the Crystal Empire returned, so did its citizens. So think of it as an entire kingdom of ponies similar to Princess Luna: they were all missing for the past 1000 years. I actually forgot that this episode has 2 songs in it. Silly me. Princess Celestia has some very harsh punishments for villains, sometimes. Her own sister was banished to the moon for 1000 years, Discord was trapped in stone for over 1000 years (and is trapped in stone yet again), and Sombra's physical form was destroyed so he now exists as a being of shadow. I guess don't get on Celestia's bad side.

nope they don't die they just get written off. but yeah if the show wasn't the rating it is you'd get actual confirmation of death in the show rather then symbolism's of it

Sombra means “shadow”, that’s where sombrero comes from - a shadow hat.

This isn't really PG... It's more G. PG shows can mention death and killing while having more violence. It's really amazing how much MLP pushed things within their TV-Y rating. TV-Y7 is the PG one, I believe.

The whole thing is a basic Brigadoon plot, village disappears from time and comes back years of centuries later with all in the town untouched by the passage of time. Cadance wasn't getting sad or depressed, she was exhausted. And you missed Twilight saying the 'Heart' you keep talking about was just some random thing she carved out not the actual Crystal Heart.
