Finally I am posting the video where I made pyridine from niacin. The yield isn't amazing, but it is good enough for me.

Do you guys know of any cool things to do with it? I might use it to make bromobenzene, but off the top of my head I can't think of anything else. I could technically try to make DMAP, but I am kind of scared of how toxic that is.

Making Stinky Pyridine from Vitamin B3

Today we are making some pyridine from niacin. We use basic copper carbonate as a catalyst to get things going. There is another method that is a lot more efficient, where a copper chromite catalyst is used and a video on this has been made by Doug's Lab. I opted not to use the copper chromite catalyst because it is a little harder to prepare.
