I think this rewatch with you is like the fifth time I’ve seen this show and it’s still just as good. All the moments that gave me chills the first time still do. It’s amazing. It’s definitely one of my favorite shows of all time now.

Oh I loooved that ending scene. The first half did feel non-finale style but they built it up perfectly and it got several tears out of me, starting with the older player telling her she was a marvel. Can't wait for whatever show comes next!

I always forget how much I adore this show until I come back to watch it again. She leaves the finale as a queen (literally dressed as a queen at the end which is SO DOPE) I also love how the show uses titles like “endgame” and “openings” to really show you where she is at narratively in the show. The basement scene where she sees that Shaibel has been following her entire career destroys me every time. It sucks cause I always end this show wanting more of it, but it feels right to end it here for Beth’s story as it feels pretty wrapped up with a nice bow at the end of this episode. She has found her place in the world of chess and in life.

I really enjoyed this show and I'm looking forward to more OTH.

The whole show covers 10 years, from 1958 to 1968, so Jolene and Beth actually hadn't seen each other for 5 years since she was adopted when she was 15 while during this episode, Beth is 20.

I have never seen Queens Gambit before. I usually like to watch a show first before watching with a reaction but decided to start last night with your reactions and am almost done your binge. Incredible experience, it was fun to get to watch with you. Can't wait to see you dive into more OTH. I wan't to recommend some shows for upcoming polls. Normal People (mini series adapted from a book, altered my brain forever) Daisy Jones and the six (adapted from a book, historical fiction about a band. original music is incredible) Never have I ever (cute, and easy watch. season 4 is coming out this week) Jury Duty Ginny & Georgia. (mom&daughter duo meets mystery, murder, mental illness and high school shenanigans)

Jenna

I just watched all of Jury Duty today and it was as great!!

Ugh this final episode is just so good. I enjoyed rewatching this show soooo much with u, thank u!! If you want another great Netflix mini series to add to a poll, I can’t recommend the show Maid enough! I haven’t been more into a Netflix original than I have when I first watched Maid, it is seriously so good!

I'm sure someone else has commented that Townes is gay and that's why they had that conversation. You can see one bed in the hotel room in the episode where he took her picture and that man was his lover. You can see the realisation on Beth's face if you rewatch. That why she says "If they only knew" when he says they thought he'd be a distraction. They're just good friends.

Kelsea

That wasn't Beth's grandfather it was her dad.. I don't know how you missed that lol. Her dad comes in the earlier flashbacks and is trying to get her but her mom sends him away and he says "if I leave here now I'm never coming back." Remember? Her mom finally realizes 5 years later that she's not well and tries to bring her back to her dad but he says "it's too late". He has a new family now.

Kelsea

Oh ok you figured it out. Good lol. It changes the importance of that scene a lot so I'm glad you got it sorted.

IT IS A BUG'S LIFE LOL
