As usual, I'm going to say if you do Grease or Rent, please check out the LIVE versions afterwards. Obviously watch the movies first but the LIVE versions were so good especially Grease LIVE. 🙂

I know come from away is not a favorite, BUT it is such a beautiful story surpunding 9/11 and has an excellent cast that portrays more than 1 role beautifully!

yes! i love allll the movies! the new one isn’t really connected to the story line of the first three so he could watch it separate if needed but all of them i recommend

I grew up with grease and I LOVED it. Just watched i with my son who is 12 and I just realised how completely Old fashioned and sexist it is. I want to still love it especially for the music, but I’m conflicted 😢

no you're right!! I don't think anyone would ever consider it a musical but I think he's using that term loosely (movies where music is a key component of the plot)

Okay thank god I'm not the only one 😅 I think musical refers to when the musical number tells you plot and would be just talking in real life (or a non musical movie) whereas Whiplash is a drama which includes music being performed by the characters who are musicians. I actually googled this and there was a whole reddit thread of people being like "girl absolutely not" lol

I just wanna say that Little Shop of Horrors is an incredible musical, but unfortunately they cast a truly awful singer as the female lead in the movie version. I don't know if it's been remade (I really hope it has) but if you're talking about the original movie, don't. The musical itself is fabulous. See it with an Audrey that can sing.

Matilda has gotten like no attention from reactors which is crazy given the fact that not only is it an amazing musical but it's such a good and faithful movie adaptation which is so insane because those are rare.
