Yayy! Glad to see Ateez on the list 🤩 they have quite a unique discography, I like them a lot. Halazia is a masterpiece. I wish I could join the custom request but I'm never fast enough to steal a spot 😂

Shout out to Cadin for keeping me fed with the Rina Sawayama reactions 😩🙌🏻 Mike I'm so desperate for you to react to Hold the Girl. I love that album so damn much. Not only does it really showcase Rina's versatility as an artist across multiple genres, but it came out right around the time I started some intense inner child work in my therapy journey and it's been such a healing album for me, I go back to it all the time. I feel like Rina is overlooked compared to a lot of the pop girlies rn and I need her to get her flowers 😭

One Ok Rock! What a nice surprise to see on the list! They're a great band. I'm so glad they were requested.

IU's concert was just incredible! It was last week for me now, she was so sweet and surprised coz London was the furthest from home that she had ever performed and she couldn't believe so many ppl came (it was a sold out show) and that so many of us were singing along. She did all her songs from The Winning, opening the show with Holssi and really getting the vibe going. Also what was amazing was that she had an encore, but then even after the encore she went away and came back again in casual clothes for an "after party" where she took song requests from the crowd. Her vocals were of course stunning and she was lovely and sweet and the show was everything I'd hoped for

Why falling in love When you can fall asleep

Beyoncé’s voice keeps getting better with age and she was already a BEAST to start with. Are you planning on reacting to her older albums as well? It’s so interesting seeing how her music evolved alongside her voice

Oh man, Suga's appendectomy story is insane - I'll sum it up for you: The setting is December 2013, BTS is performing in Japan, still very young and broke AF (Suga is 20, Jin is 21). Suga starts experiencing appendicitis symptoms - they figure out what it is, and then fly him immediately back to Korea instead of getting the surgery in Japan (My guess is that they were trying to get him back to a country where his healthcare costs would be covered). You are NOT supposed to fly with appendicities - it makes it worse! So, Suga shows up in Korea delirious with a high fever from a ruptured appendix. He's in the hospital for a week (and writes two AMAZING songs in his hospital bed - Just One Day and Tomorrow). He gets released - and then a week later is BACK in the hospital, because his sugery wound got infected. He's once again in the hospital for a couple days while they make sure he doesn't die. A week later, he flies back to Japan to continue performing there, the only accommodation for his condition being that he doesn't join in the dancing, but he's still on stage the whole time doing his rap verses. That was the event at which Jin wrote him the letter and read it on stage - telling him that he's amazing for even standing on the stage at all.

Yes, Michael, I believe a bar song is based on the song you are talking about. I saw something about it a couple of weeks ago and had that AHA moment, lol!!

OMG MY ATEEZ 😭😭😭 need to watch this one asap

Mariana

Yaaay, so glad you got to watch some highlights os Jin and Yoongi Suchwita, the episodes are regularly about 45 minutes long so I hope everyone here is satisfied with what I left in the edit. Those were in fact Jungkook and Yoongi in the picture of Jin getting his head shaved, although V was also on facetime watching from Mexico

this gonna be quite a long one so please bare with me here So so glad you got introduced to Ateez and that you loved it! For basics, it's pronounced Ay-teez (like 80s but with a stronger T?), 8 members, debut was in 2018. Member with a deep voice is Yeosang, the one doing the high high notes is Jongho, our main vocalist! Ateez is really known for their performances and powerful style, and it's quite common for their title tracks to have that type of hype ending. Their tracks have been produced by the same in-house team at KQ since their debut, so it's all very consistent with their concepts - and yet so incredibly diverse! About the video, I won't even try to go in detail because you need 2 years and post doctorate degree to understand their whole Lore (God knows I don't and I've been here for 6 years), but BASICALLY they have a storyline that's been going on since their debut and they live in two different timeliness, and have alter egos, Halazia (and the entire era of their 'World' album series happens in what we call 'World Z', which is an dystopia society and ateez are outlaws trying to overthrow a government where music and emotions are prohibited. the scarecrow is basically themselves in another timeline? (they wear the hat and the chained masks in different occasions and we call them halateez) ANYWAYS I'm now late for work but I'm so so glad you got introduced to them and hopefully will get the chance to continue on this journey!

Caught IU’s concert in Singapore and omg. 3.5 hours of tears and goosebumps. She’s just soooooo good. Hearing her live is even better than you can ever imagine. 🥲

HAZBIN HOTEL???? this is SO amazing

Hi Michael! Thanks for listening to "Silent All These Years" again. As you said, I think this clip was a great way to close the Little Earthquakes chapter, since Tori was able to return to the place where she wrote the album. Of course, Tori plays a myriad of keyboard instruments, but you will rarely see her play a grand piano that is not a Bosendorfer. A normal piano has 88 keys. The Bosendorfer can have up to 97 keys, which is how Tori gets those startling low notes. It doesn't matter how small the TV studio is; the Bosie is coming along! You are right that Tori was inspired by the Little Mermaid when she wrote "Silent All These Years." I think the lyrics are very open, and people can interpret them in a variety of ways. In general, it's about moving past pain to find your power, your voice again.

Ahhh I'm taking a road trip from Texas to Florida to Virginia to Maryland in a couple weeks that will end with IU's concert in Washington, D.C. before driving back to Texas. I can't wait to deep dive into Shaboozey's discography, because marrying hip-hop and Americana sounds like an f'ing dream to me!! I'm from Virginia, and he's from Virginia. I feel like listening to his music while driving there will feel like coming home. My daughter just had me listen to Bar Song a few days ago, and I immediately liked it. I'm also going to listen to Beyonce albums, because I'm behind and need to catch up, and I already know it's going to be glorious driving through the South listening to the queen. So glad to see Above the Time in the requests. IU is peak Disney princess in this song, and I'm obsessed with the chorus and the breakdown. I saw that this song is in the setlist for the HEREH tour, so I will try to catch some video of it, if I'm not on the floor of the arena drowning in my tears of joy and awe. I hope you get a chance to see Jin's return performance at Festa from June 13 (the day after his discharge). It's about an hour long, really fun, and really moving. The world has seemed so much brighter since he's been back!

Also, so glad to see ATEEZ enter your sphere. They are crazy talented performers. I am obsessed with leader/rapper Hongjoong, especially after I learned his influences include David Bowie. If you love anthemic songs that get you pumped up, you have a whole raft of ATEEZ songs coming that you're going to enjoy!

I love all the suchwita episodes with the boys, so happy you watched a bit of Jin's episode. The ones in the picture when he was shaving his head are Yoongi and Jungkook, Taehyung was in Mexico shooting a variety show, Jinny's Kitchen, but he went back to Korea just in time for Jin's enlistment day. And what Jungkook was saying about the chorus being too repetitive in Never Let Go was because he intended to give us this song along with a performance, but he didn't have enough time to do that.

I’m so happy you are reacting to ATEEZ!! They are an amazing group, extremely talented and still kind of underrated, especially in Korea. Not only is their whole discography extremely diverse and impressive, but their live performance are where they shine the most. They were the first K-pop boy group to perform at Coachella and the smashed it. Even people who never heard of K-pop before became interested after seeing their performance there, so you could definitely check it out. And if you like the the Latin music vibes then you’re at the right place, you can hear it in lots of their songs (Work, Arriba, Django…) I could also talk about how talented individual members are, but we would be here for a while😅 You can learn all of that if you watch a guide on the group or listen/watch more of their performances. Great reaction, as always😊

star

Oh my god PLEASE i would love to see you react to more Ateez. I love them so much

CGoerlich

Bring on the new spots. I miss being in the tier! 😂

Ruth

I love that you reacted to the original Hazbin Hotel pilot on YouTube. Me and my friend watched it so many times and got so excited when it was picked up on Amazon prime. It is soooooooooo good. 😈💜💜💜💜

Jordan S

Loved the Rina reaction, Send my love to John is a tearjerker. Love whoever keeps requesting Rina

mary-anne

Michael you HAVE to react to Black Is King!!!

KRP

Was wondering if you were still continuing to watch House of the Dragon? The new season has been amazing so far.

evelyn💓

omg i’d love to recommend more !! im slowly discovering them because my girlfriend’s a big fan, she actually recommended this for him hehe. was thinking between work, arriba and crazy form for july!

Amy

I think one of the reasons why Beyonce has so many writers credited on her music is because sometimes she uses samples (some very subtle though, hard to catch), and she basically credits the original writers.

Amy

I am confident that you would like Beyonce’s The Gift album, which is kinda like a soundtrack for Lion King, but not specifically. It is mostly inspired by the story in the film, but comes with a different concept: “a love letter to Africa and diaspora”(Beyonce once said). She also released a visual, like she did for Lemonade. The visual is called Black is King, and was released on Disney+. I could share a google drive link with it, if you are interested😁

Paige Macdonald

Michael you gotta react to Noah Kahans old stuff!! It’s so good

NexX

i really hope you react to the full hazin hotel series if you enjoyed the pilot you wil love the show it has really good songs with amazing vocals and good characters

Prem Parekh

What are some of the best songs from his old stuff to start with? I just finished Stick Season (Forever) all the way through, and it was incredible, but I do not know where to start on his older music.
