a childhood classic! the dvd had “far far away idol” (american idol) as a bonus feature where a ton of the characters would sing songs in front of a panel of judges & i remember being obsessed with it as a kid lol

So funnish story... we were watching this movie one night for the millionth time (like I said my sons favorite) At the end of the movie fiona says "Shrek you would do that for me!" He says something along the lines of "i love you of course I would!" So I look at my husband and playfully smacks his arm and ask him, "why don't you ever say things like that!" He just gives me a look so I said, "that's right your no Shrek, your more my donkey." He laughs and says "yeah and you are my fire breathing dragon!" And that just explains my relationship to a tee!!

This movie is soooooo iconic, there's so many references you didn't pick up on that you'll get the next watch. After the third movie, the series kinda goes off the rails until the new Puss in Boots movie :))

Wait one second. Hold the presses. Did Michael Beveraggi actually watch the end credits?!?! 😂 Sorry. I had to. You know I've been on you about watching the end credits to movies. But anyway—absolutely LOVED your reaction. Both the first and 2nd movies are classics. And you're right about not all sequels being great. This one is one of the ones that have been well done. HSM2&3, Santa Claus 2, the Toy Story ones, Princess Diaries 2, and the 2nd Narnia (not sure everyone feels the same) are some that have been good or even better. I'm actually sorta bummed you didn't point out Julie Andrews being the queen. Sir, please tell me you've seen some of her movies. If not, we gotta fix that. Especially the Princess Diaries movies and Mary Poppins. Anyway—Can't wait to see what you react to next!!!

So glad you decided to watch this one first. There's so many pop culture references in this movie that I only got when I grew up 😂 they're everywhere, it's amazing. Looking forward to the next movie, I like it a lot, even though none can top the second lol

Just as good as I remember! When it came out, my older brother (in college at the time) came home and told me that Puss in Boots was the cutest thing he had ever seen in his entire life - I'll always remember that, just my older brother completely melting over a cartoon cat lol - as you spotted, they branched off Puss in Boots into his own series of movies, because people loved him so much.
