Mima

all i can say is prepare yourself for episode 5.

Jujutsu Kaisen can be very confusing in its power system if you're an anime-only, since the gap between content is very wide, so people tend to forget those details. I'll try to fill some of those gaps if you read this lol. First, 'Megumi' literally means 'blessing.' Toji said 'megumi' meaning 'blessing' in a sentence that spurred his memory into remembering his son's literal name. He also mentioned last ep (literally right after stabbing Gojo in the stomach the first time) that he's terrible at remembering guys' names, so it's more a play on that rather than anything to do with his heavenly pact. JJK has an in-universe power boost to explaining your technique, a very common trope in anime to deliver exposition. It's a pact where if you explain your technique, it makes that technique more effective or stronger. People with heavenly pacts, like Toji, also benefit from this rule. Second, a heavenly pact has been explained to anime watchers. It was mostly in passing and not enough emphasis was put on it imo, so a lot of people did not retain the information. It was season 1 ep 16, where Panda fights Mechamaru. A heavenly pact is a pact placed on someone when they're born. Mechamaru's heavenly pact is he has like the shittiest, terrible body imaginable, but in exchange, he can use his cursed technique over vast distances. Toji's heavenly pact is that his cursed energy is 0, but in exchange, he has overpowered everything else. Some little facts: I don't think the gun was a cursed tool; if it was it was not explained in the manga what it was or did, but the chain Toji used was a cursed tool, where it extended infinitely as long as one side of the chain was hidden, so one part connected to his weapon, and the other end was in the cursed spirit's mouth, so it could extend infinitely.

Thanks for the extra info, I do get confused or just sometimes forget information regarding Jujutsu and the power systems

you really need to stop and do some research or re watch if you want to understand jjk cause its truly complex, the author is a literal NERD, he even brought scientists to explain how gojos infinity work for the jump giga magazine, it took them like 8 pages to conclude it😭 hes insane istg, the effort that the author puts in making the characters and story feel more real is one of the reasons why this is one of my fave animangas out there, so excited for ep 5!!

So this douchebag just forgets he has a son and only remembered his name when the word blessing ('Megumi') jogged his memory a bit. But he did tell Gojo that Megumi would be sold to the clan so maybe he finally discovered some fatherly affection in his last breath. Or he probably just didn't want the Zenin clan to have him. Actually, it's definitely that. What a cunning, intelligent powerful scumbag. So Maki has a similar heavenly pact as Toji? i.e 0 cursed energy in exchange for strength?

2023-09-18 18:13:15 Ok so some spoiler-free explanation of everything so far. This will be very, very long, sorry. 1. Heavenly Pact or Heavenly Restriction: A binding that is placed on a sorcerer at birth, where a limitation is placed on the body in exchange for a different capacity. So far we have seen 3 heavenly pacts. Toji was born with no cursed energy at all and in exchange his pact gave him extraordinary physical prowess. Similarly, Maki (2nd year glasses girl) from season 1 has a similar pact as Toji where she also has no cursed energy but has gifted physical abilities. Both Toji and Maki are from the Zenin clan, and most member of the clan is born with strong curse energy, but because they both don’t have any, they are ostracized by their clan. The 3rd person with the heavenly pact (that we’ve seen so far) is Mechamaru. He was born without a normal body but in exchange, he has a vast amount of cursed energy and can control it from far distances. 2. The Toji & Megumi situation: Toji left the Zenin clan, got married, and had Megumi. He also took Megumi’s mom’s last name, Fushiguro. This next information isn’t a spoiler; it wasn’t revealed in the anime or the manga but instead, the author talked about it in the official fanbook. Basically, Megumi’s mom helped Toji change his ways, he stopped gambling and hunting sorcerers, etc. But when she died, Toji reverted back to his old, cold self. He sold Megumi to the Zenin clan and even forgot his own son’s name and existence. It wasn’t amnesia, he was just being an irresponsible father and probably traumatized by his wife’s death. He only remembered about Megumi when the word “blessing” was brought up since that's what Megumi’s name mean. Right before Toji died, he remembered his wife and Megumi and told Gojo to do whatever he wanted about the plan to sell Megumi to the Zenin clan. 3. Gojo’s abilities: we saw in the first couple of episodes that Gojo used “Cursed Technique Lapse: Blue.” This is just Gojo bringing forth his limitless ability and basically shooting it as a power beam. And since cursed is negative energy, it destroys things, like how he destroyed half the school property during the 1st fight with Toji. Next, we saw in the previous episode that high schooler Gojo wasn’t about to use “Cursed Technique Reversal: Red.” He attempted to use it and just said “It failed! ;P.” Right after, there was a little small flashback scene, where Shoko (their female classmate) was explaining to both Gojo and Geto how to use Reversed Curse Technique since it is a very complex technique. It takes two sources of cursed energy (which are negative energy) and by multiplying it, it becomes positive energy. That is why reverse cursed technique is mainly used in healing. Like how at the end of the episode Geto said he was healed by Shoko. Gojo was finally able to use Reversed Curse technique after nearly dying and managed to heal himself. After being on the verge of death Gojo fully “awakens” and taps into his core cursed energy, he is able to combine “Cursed Technique Lapse: Blue” + “Cursed Technique Reversal: Red” to create “Hollow Purple.” It was a technique that even Toji didn’t know about and managed to defeat Toji. 4. The Post Credit Scene explanation. Someone on Reddit explained it really well so I’m just going to copy and paste it here. “Gojo saw Geto as his moral compass in this period. Geto was always considerate, but Gojo didn’t really care about morals. But he listened to what Geto said at the end of the day anyway. After this whole scenario with Toji, Gojo became even crazier while being high on power. He wanted to get Riko's body back from the religious group, so he did. When he got her, the common non-sorcerer religious people started clapping, because they saw that Riko was dead, meaning they got what they wanted by the prevention of the merger with Tengen. Gojo is obviously mad at them and wants to kill them, but jujutsu sorcerers are not allowed to kill non-sorcerers without a good reason. Even after being way stronger than Geto now Gojo still asks him if they should kill the believers. Meaning Geto was still his moral compass. Knowing this Geto still abides by the laws of jjk high and tells Gojo that there's no good point/reason to do so. But we can clearly see that Geto is skittish and internally probably wants to kill everyone responsible for Riko's death even more than Gojo does. Geto is trying to convince himself more than convincing Gojo that there has to be a good reason to kill these normal people. Especially after Gojo mentioned, "Does there really have to be a point/good reason to kill them?" One more detail, after Geto says “No need” that’s the only word Gojo needed to hear to not kill them, yet Geto keeps monologuing like he’s trying so hard to convince Gojo but in reality, he was trying to convince himself not to kill these people because its against jjk regulation and is morally wrong.
