2521 FINALE I AINT READY 😭

Julia

For AOT clarification, Marco was with them when they got up on the wall after saving Jean. The last time seeing him was when they went back down after seeing that Eren was walking towards the hole.

I think 2521 is very much about a fleeting moment in time. It was an incredibly impactful time period for the characters involved during the time it happened, but that's all it was in the end, a point in time where life was exciting and dramatic and it influenced the people they all grow into, but ultimately the present is always more important to us, and once the present is the past, it's almost an alternate reality that we can't ever touch now that it's gone, so we move on. I'm also not very satisfied with how the finale treats its characters and I think the future framework was a mistake overall as it misleads the audience into thinking there's a mystery to solve when no such thing exists. But I think the tone shift was pretty true to the message the show is trying to convey, even if it's depressing and fumbled quite a bit. Endings are hard and I definitely think they could have done it better if given more time to wrap things up and either cut the future out as a framing device, or give it more time to grow as a final arc in the story with a better conclusion. Very fun show overall with one of my favorite casts of all time. I came for Bona, Nam Joohyuk and Kim Taeri, but I ended up falling really hard for both the characters of Jiwoong and Seungwan (I don't think I've ever related to a character more than Seungwan). I wish the show had been able to wrap up in a more satisfying manner, but after watching it a second time with you guys I don't regret doing so again. There's a lot of positive messages to take away, both happy and sad, and I think that's pretty refreshing, especially in a show that on the surface seems mostly nostalgic and simple.

2521 finale!!!!! So interesting hearing y’all’s thoughts about the ending. I will say the opinions on the ending are extremely polarized, you either loved it or you didn’t. I totally agree that the ending is not satisfying. I definitely don’t need a happily ever after ending to be satisfied, but totally agree that the ending undercuts the drama. They didn’t connect the future well enough to make the troupe worth while. For me, a big thing was that I never connected with the actress that plays future Na Hee Do. She seems like a completely different person. It is similar to how I felt about adult casting for Deok Sun in Reply 1988. I know people change as adults, but I just felt throughout there was a disconnect between the two. I feel like they should have just aged up Kim Tae Ri, especially since none of the other characters are shown in the future AND she’s in her 30’s IRL it would not have been that big of a stretch. I remember when watching the series airing live one of the major theories before the finale was that Jo In Sung would make a cameo as older Baek Yi Jin which would have been EPIC! But we were just clowns to ever believe that would happen, hey one can dream 😆 I personally hate this ending as well, but it also does not ruin the drama for me overall. The cinematography and acting was truly incredible. So excited that y’all are starting Weak Hero Class 1!!!

Omg me too the actress that played older Heedo I just didnt see Heedo within her at all 😭

Yeah there is only like 2 more arcs after this one (I went crazy after watching the ent district arc and read the whole manga I DONT ADVISE DOING THAT) the author she kept the story right which I respect objectively but also gimme more plz —as far as seasons though they might have three more bc the final arc is just so much to cover

I would have loved a Definitely Maybe type ending for 2521. That would have made for a great rom com ending. At the same time, I thought the ending was great - very bittersweet and absolutely heartbreaking. There were a few things that alluded to this ending. For me, the biggest clue that there was going to be heartbreak was Hee Do's line when we first see her younger self saying "I'm 18, too young to lose anything." I was already preparing myself for a less than happy ending, even concerned that there would be the death of a beloved character. And what hurt the most was not being proven wrong. I remember just hoping that Hee Do and Yi Jin would get that perfect happy ending and then just getting this ending. But as much as it hurts to say, that's just how Hee Do and Yi Jin were meant to end. They came into each other's life when they needed each other the most. They supported each other and grew together and eventually grew apart. It's sad, but that's also life. This drama is one of my favorite dramas of all time, just because of how beautiful the journey was. Even though I didn't get the ending that I wanted, the series left me with so many great emotions, including emptiness. I think I had to take a break from K-dramas for 2-3 months after this. But I can see myself rewatching it at least every 1-2 years.

Wow what a rollercoaster of emotions (for the third time for me😅😂) I put myself through this trauma. The finale always makes me cry lol just gonna apologize now for this long rant. When I first watched this show, I felt the same way. Empty. The first 14 1/2 episodes felt like a different show from the last part of episode 15 & all of 16. To me, Na Hee Do & Baek Yi Jin's love story was my favorite. They met, became friends, supported each other, fell in love & rooted for each others happiness. So that ending broke my heart. I know what the writers were trying to do, but I don't care for realism especially in a show that started off so animated as you guys mentioned. Then I read this story was based off that song "Twenty five twenty one by Jaurim" where the singer's boyfriend actually died from overwork. They actually spared our feelings lol. Some of the lyrics in the song: "That day, the sea was very warm It still seems as if you're grabbing my hand In the shining sunlight, there was you and me My heart ached with happiness in this dream" "What I thought would last forever, twenty five twenty one" I bawled my damn eyes out. This song was haunting but beautiful. After that I accepted this very rushed and disconnected ending. Even I'm about to enter my 30's, and I don't even talk to any of my friends from school or in the past. Like they really slapped us in the face with reality and I can't be mad. We knew from the beginning the ending wasn't gonna be happy because yijin wasn't the dad. Even that ending scene when he's trying to recover his password, homeboy doesn't have a ring on his finger. He never got married. I was fine with how they tied up Yurim & Ji Woong's relationship, yurim & hee do's friendship, but wasn't happy with how they did our girl seungwan lol. I thought she was gonna be into politics or an activist because of that radio show she had but they really gave homegirl a assistant directors job for a variety show lol. Nothing wrong with that but I wanted more for her. Another reality slap for us I guess. Im thankful for this show that transported me back into a time where there was less worries and a lot of love and friendship as heedo said in the end. Nothing lasts forever, happy moments are fleeting, our first loves, chasing our dreams, realizing the harshness of reality. This show is an ode to our youth. 100% Nostalgia. Even though the ending wasn't happy I still loved this show overall. It made me happy, sad, annoyed, pissed off & all the above 😂 This is my 2nd favorite kdrama (first is still it's okay to not be okay) and I enjoyed the journey they took us on. Thank you guys for that discussion at the end I always wonder how people feel after that ending because it was a brave way to end it like that lol. You guys nailed it on the head with my first initial reaction of the ending, but after some thought I thought the finale was bittersweet and grounded and I'm at peace with that. Baekdo will hold a special place in my heart.

To PD or Blarie, if you guys see this... Just wondering if you guys will be reacting to jujutsu kaisen season 2 after finishing spyxfamily?

WiseSmellyLegs

Regarding Annie (of Shingeki no Kyojin)... the scene of her blue eyes and then killing the titans, that was purely for the cool effect. I don't want to get into any spoilers, but after this season it will take a long time to get back to her and to find out about her reasons etc. Basically I am saying don't expect anything really big. I am not saying her character is not interesting, but for example when you said: "Hmm... interesting..." during the conversation between her and Reiner. I would say the back story of Reiner and his reasons are much more interesting and foreshadowings about his characters are much more interesting.
