It's really interesting hearing you guys talk about like pre debut svt and bts because yesterday bts released their autobiography which I'm slowly getting through and it's filled with so much info on their early days. I'm excited for the Jin episode this month, but I hope you guys can go back and watch episode 9 soon. It's the episode that focuses on D-Day and is such a fun episode to watch.

Yess episode 9 is so much fun you'll love it before watching jin's episode. Plz do react to it

It's funny that you talked about how Seventeen members basically learnt with each other, the most concrete example could be Seungkwan and Dino. They often talk about how they taught each other dance and singing, today when you watch Seungkwan's dancing you see the same style as Dino and conversely Dino's singing is so much similar to Seungkwan's. When you think of it, all members have changed and they basically grew and are still growing together (cf. what Mingyu was saying in ITS2 about how age doesn't even matter anymore between the members). I'll just add that the biggest difference between BTS and Seventeen is that I feel like any BTS member could go solo even without BTS, while Seventeen members feel like they couldn't exist solo if it wasn't for Seventeen. Here, Suga could be a producer even without belonging to a team, but Woozi would never be the producer he is today if it wasn't for his team.

A slight correction- jhope being a singer and later switching to rapping is a fandom myth which is not true. He was dancing before and later when he came to live in the dorm, everyone was a rapper there and jhope couldn't sit back and started joining them in rapping . Here is the relevant section from the official BTS 10 year biography - According to j-hope: ______"It was a rap den, a den of rap." At the time of his audition, j-hope did not know how to rap at all. He did Yoonmirae’s “Black Happiness” for the rap portion, but he felt so dissatisfied with it that he feared he had failed his audition. To j-hope, the happenings in the dorm must’ve come as quite a culture shock. He recalls: ______"Wow, as soon as you walk into that dorm, the kids just started freestyle rapping at you. I couldn’t do any of that! Every weekend, the company filmed us rapping freestyle. But then they’d come back to the dorm and keep putting on beats and doing rap." The dorm overflowed with hip-hop, with impromptu singalongs to songs like Wiz Khalifa’s “Black and Yellow” going on in the middle of the night. Those dormitory days where hip-hop was work, play, and life all rolled into one for a bunch of teenagers would play an important part in the formation of BTS’s identity in the coming years. On hip-hop, and the group’s special bond, j-hope would say: ______"You couldn’t not rap in that environment. And everyone was so encouraging to me there. I asked them all sorts of stuff about rap and studied up on it and just learned lot." Although j-hope was a rap newbie, the beats-filled life at the dorm made him quickly fall in love with hip-hop, which also allowed him to forge new friendships with his fellow trainees. A place where rappers and this dancer who now rapped had gathered to train as professional musicians—this was what j-hope refers to as “Season 1” of their dorm life. “Season 2” began with the arrival of Jung Kook.

Would love for you guys to watch the Pinggyeo eps with Suga + Jimin & Yu Jaeseok if you haven’t already! It’s insanely funny

Also don’t know where that info came from. Jhope audition to dance but later on learn how to rap since he’s living with rappers that time & they all do freestyle raps in the dorm so he thought he also needs to learn so he can join their fun. He said it himself before.

In terms of BTS learning from each other, the official biography states - --RM and SUGA taught the members hip-hop, j-hope taught dance, and Jin used whatever ingredients available in the dorm to cook up meals for everyone. In this process, the older members began to understand the young members and the younger members learned from the older ones.--

Does anyone know what happened to this week's svt in the soop? I can't seem to see it

Lola

Wow when you guys mentioned how it feels like both groups dream isnt necessarily being an idol but maybe each other and what they mean to one another makes me think of what Jin said in there new book how if they had decided to not continue being a group after LY Her he would “step away from the entertainment industry and do something else for a living”

eleftheria k.

I really hope all armys as well as everyone that talks about kpop culture in general read the bts autobiography

something me and my friends like to say about groups like bts, seventeen etc, is that trauma bonding really works (whether it's coming from dirt poor companies, almost disbanding or whatever)

Vintage.Belle
