Lee Mujin Service: ITZY LIA

Always good to see. Lee Mujin Service is such a great show and Lia sounds lovely here. You should check out Purple Kiss's Swan's appearance on the show, She really does a great job. FYI the subtitles during the conversational parts were getting partially cut off at least for me. Not a big deal, it is easy to catch them off the original just thought I would let you know.

Loved it! Pls also check out NMIXX's Haewon's Lee Mujin Service!

I've only saw ITZY's Letter to Midzy or something on your patreon, so take this with a large grain of salt: I think Lia does have low confidence. It's what Blaire said, people compare her dancing to the other members, compare her singing to Yeji (they say Yeji is more stable and does high notes better etc.), and she knows that the other members enjoy dancing and shine doing it, while she has to work twice as hard to get the opinion of "she's just following along". It sucks to say it, but singing-wise ITZY songs aren't showcasing her voice as well, they do have high notes and stuff but one of their main things is how well they dance, and when you dance hard you can't sing as much.

Thank you for sharing this. I hope everyone who dropped a comment recommending a different episode or another idol actually watched this episode.

Since you asked, no it's not how most kpop fans listen to music. They don't know the true feeling or emotion or sentiment that the singer an songwriter are trying to express because, they don't know the lyrics or the TRANSLATED lyrics do not accurately convey that message an emotion of the song throughly enough. So most just vibe with the singer and the melody itself. You speak Korean, so you understand the song as it is presented and you can tell if the singer actually accurately protrays or conveys the true feeling emotionally of the lyrics or not. The average kpop fan does not have that ability. Which is why some of them are so toxic. Lia actually (if you listen to her OSTs and covers) does an excellent job of conveying and sharing the true emotional meaning of songs that she sings.

I really really love Lia’s voice. And I do agree, she needs to release an EP, coz I can listen to her singing all day. You should listen to her K-drama ost. Always Be Your Star (Red Sleeves OST), and Blue Flower (Alchemy of Souls S2 OST).

Thank you PD, I have been waiting for this for so long TT

I did several video calls with Lia before, and asked her what her ultimate goal for being an artist. She said that she hopes her voice can bring comfort to us and understand the emotions/message she wants to deliver in every song. And, in case some of you might not know, Lia is an LP-lover, she has a habit of collecting LP she loves. She hopes someday, she can be releasing her own LP, like what IU did. Singing is what she loves. Please stop all the hates.

ISNT THAT HOW EVERYONE LISTENS TO MUSIC????? NO IM JUST AS CONFUSED I FEEL LIKE THERES A WHOLE TREND ON TIK TOK ABOUT PUTTING YOUR HEADPHONES ON AND FEELING LIKE THE MAIN CHARACTER??!!! I still do it today but also Like tell me none of you did that on the school bus with your head against the window as it rained but you went over a bump and hit your head against the window and you’re like AH no I’m not the main character -_- kpop songs heighten emotions!! Like the whole idea is to take it to a 10 and in extreme examples make you feel like a superhero to some extent so you get swept up in that emotions right???

Liv

Like I don’t paint the whole MV when I’m driving and listening ithat would be a bit dangerous☠️ BUT I do it to amplify my emotions like I have to be in the right mood for a song OR switch my mood like blaire says!!

Liv

Even with kpop songs you still get the emotion across and experience the feelings put into that and have it impact your daily emotions THIS IS MIND-BOGGLING IF THIS IS NOT EVERYONES EXPERIENCE , like it’s not EVERY time I listen to music but it’s still like a daily, common thing and I feel it’s especially true for KPOP, I feel like most people understand the emotions especially bc there are clear concepts evoked and the songs are heightened by the visuals of the MV (and from my experience and from what I know most fans watch the MV with subs on, and that’s also why sites like colorcoded lyrics exist bc fans wanted to understand the meaning) — My only theory is that this ‘main character’ experience doesn’t happen to people who “don’t listen to music” (I’ve encountered more than you’d think who just don’t listen to music avidly or like say they only listen to instrumentals) maybe it also applies for people who can t usually think of images in their mind and have trouble visualizing stuff

I recommend you watch Yooa's segment!!

I feel exactly the same towards lia as you described… I feel calmed and comforted by her. In performances and mv’s she always drew me in in a different way to the others and then during Paris et Itzy I saw her offstage personality and she just slotted perfectly into a corner of my heart 💜 also yes that’s exactly how I listen to music too, I imagine I’m performing the songs even tho I can’t sing/dance but in my head it is so fun hahahaha
