If you refer to our calendar, I've marked 'BABYMONSTER' without specific content tagged to it because I figured more would be releasing but this new development is certainly... unexpected.

In case anyone is wondering, yes, we'll finish all the introduction videos and check out whatever evaluation videos are out (will depend on the run time, etc.) on the 24th!

What does everyone think about the 'last evaluation' and that BM won't be seven members?

Exactly, that’s what I thought. People are being over exaggerating

ian

I’ve seen several people speculate it being footage from months ago and YG is just using it as another marketing tactic, which I could very well see being true

I feel a bit betrayed after liking EVERY one of these girls. I was getting a "next gen" IZ*ONE sort of feeling in terms of the personality this group brings me. I just wonder how the girls feel about it idk. I also wonder what process they are gonna use to narrow down the group if at all. Whatever it is it better not break my heart to harshly. T-T

I just find it annoying and think a company like yg should be able to create hype without shock marketing strategies like this... But it's yg... so sadly expected.

DTruth

Why would they introduce us seven people when they don't debut all of them??? Like don't show us something that we won't get!! But as long as they don't introduce us some AI members...

Yang Hyun Suk told Bobby & B.I they would be kicked out from YG if they get eliminated in Show Me The Money. Bobby won, but B.I got eliminated, but was he kicked out from the label?? Hell no… I feel like this is more less the same situation. Yang Hyun Suk wants the situation to be dramatic… I mean, obviously he knew there is no way not to debut B.I with iKON or kicking him out… but it gets people talking and more attached to them. The same goes with BABYMONSTER. Also their pre-debut content serves really well as a promotion for them. And what else does this kind of pre-debut promotion? Survival shows! And what do survival shows have? The tension of elimination, which the BABYMONSTER pre-debut content didn’t have (at first). So Yang Hyun Suk/YG just wanted to add this key thing to their pre-debut content as well to make some drama, to make fans more loyal, because they want us to get nervous and be even more glad after they let them debut without any elimination… Let’s take a look at the Stray Kids show… all of them made it and JYP knew it from the very beginning, he just needed to make some dramatic moment there as well… Another example can be Pentagon from Pentagon Maker, evebody debuted after all. Basically there is no way they would put that much work into their promotion and interaction between them or even with other YG artists like Lisa just to eliminate some of them… If it was like 9+ members group or if they added members and announced it after that, in that case there was some chance of elimination, but even in that case my first thought would have been: “They might make two groups as they wanted with Treasure initially”. And I don’t think they would debut 3 members in one group and 4 in another one, like… the last time YG debuted 3 members girl group was with their very first girl group Swi.T and that was like 20 years ago… But besides these YG’s mind games. I can imagine those BABYMONSTER members are not aware of these tricky moves, so YG wanted to put them under pressure to make them fight for their debut even more and to force them to be even more breathtaking with their performances than they already are. But even if we consider a chance they would eliminate someone... Let's narrow it down. - Both Ruka and Asa as the strongest rappers are debuting, like there is no way they won't make it - Ahyeon as well. Not only she is the all rounder, but in her introducing video she showed us she is fluent in English and Chinese too and since they don't have Chinese members after all, this skill could be useful and also an English speaker in current generation Kpop groups is basically a standard... - Rora was actually introduced as an all rounder as well, although we couldn't see her rapping, but she already has at least some knowledge of being active on the scene and performing, because she used to be in one kid girl group So if I really had to choose someone to be eliminated, I would be thinking between Pharaita, Chiquita and Haram. And yes, it sounds stupid, I know... - With Chiquita it is just the pure fact of her age and that they could keep her for the future and also they could consider people being against young idols (although I think they don't care about this, since they are one of the big 3 - same as I was thinking if JYP let Koki debut if he was in the Team JYP) - Haram simply as Dezzy said: "she is the least best of the best", but on the other hand I totally agree she could be the "another JiSoo" in the way she will grow up a lot and get better more and more - With Pharita it is the least probable that it would happen, but in case Haram would make it, they would have enough vocals But the thing with the Thai members is their big interaction with Lisa and it would be really dumb to promote them in this way and then let it go. Or actually... Chiquita is much more presented and even by the fans considered as the "young Lisa", so they could keep only her

Bunch of bullshit YG always does this it's just their lazy marketing

Honestly, I've not said it on this patreon but i'm not very "thrilled" about some of these girls ages,( I don't think being a kpop idol from those ages can be physically or mentally healthy at all😬 and seeing the way even older minors have been/ are being treated in the industry is worrying) so icl when I heard that some may not debut with them I was hopeful that they may reconsider debuting a 13 year old at the very least

Sakurayuna

This move by YG is SO stupid, they remove members - people won't be happy, they keep all 7, people won't be happy because of their BS and lies just to hype them up when it wasn't even needed.

Guthwulf

I talked about it back when New Jeans had their debut and controversy. Minors debuting is nothing new in K-Pop but its become so common nowadays and the ages get younger and younger, especially in the last year. The life of an idol, being in the publics eye all the time and having these crazy schedules is hard enough for an adult. Companies are only interested in money and we just can't trust them to protect these kids or their mental health properly. I wish we had some law that makes it illegal to debut a minor or say at least somebody younger than 16 years old, but that's just wishful thinking. I fear first something really bad has to happen before somebody start discussing the put some regulations on companies to better protect these kids. Of course I wish Babymonster's members all the best and hope that they will be ok (and successful).

noshi

It’s harsh of course, but trainees getting cut from the debut linup happens a LOT behind the scenes and noone even knows about them. le sserafim ruka, ateez junyoung, even bts kim ji-hun. At least with the babymonster trainees, they got so much exposure by now that they probably have a future guaranteed, even if its not in YG

Guthwulf

24th? Oh boy... this will be a long wait... I somehow hoped for an earlier release... Like almost everybody else, I expect it to be a marketing stunt (for attention and publicity) and to make fans feel even more protective about the members. Maybe they hope also that we all will be thankful to YG when they finally hear us fans and "luckily" let all 7 debut? Of course with YG you never know. Its crazy how out of touch with reality these companies can be. If they really kick somebody out at this moment in time they might alienate a significant part of the fandom. So lets hope it really is a "just" a marketing stunt. But even as marketing stunt it could backfire. What if fans start arguing who "deserves it more" to be in the group? Imagine being one of the members seeing "your" (supposed to be) fans discussing that you're "not good enough"? Even as "marketing" this could split and damage the fandom before the debut even happened. Regardless of what it is, it is at the very least emotionally manipulative. Of course as grab for attention it works perfectly. Genius or stupid marketing? I guess only time will tell.

Oligom

I seriously think its BS that they showcased all 7 trainees and now that a lot of people are more open to see them debut (age is a deterrent for a lot of fans, but the skills they showed are making people change their mind, they all seem "ready") they are hitting us with this. I surely hope this is just a marketing stunt.

Divine Oladejo

i would not be too worried about it. this was filmled in early 2022 and there has been recent pictures of all of them togther recently, going to treasure concert and even pharita sent a ballon to lisa when they had a concert in thailand saying from pharita of baemon. Yg life released an article about a day ago saying babymonster is a group of 7 members 3 koreans, 2 thai and 2 japanese. i think the yg didnt want 7 at first but once he saw all the talent he couldnt let one go

iftikar Ali

I became a member and paid to watch TriBe contents but it says not available…Am I doomed?

Emily

I just think it’s like a documentary showcasing how they became baemon I doubt someone will be cut

Amanda Araujo

i was kind of pissed off when I saw that but i thought about it later and i think there's no way they won't be 7, i don't think they would put all that effort with the introduction videos and telling everyone's story to not debut them, my guess is that its just a marketing move and that YG said that before their last evaluation because it was his plan at first but then he saw that all of them deserved to debut like treasure were supposed to be a 7 member bg but ended up with 12 at the end lol

iftikar Ali

Guys follow talent not money or big companies

WiseSmellyLegs

Didn’t he say in the first episode of Treasure Box that he didn’t know yet? He mentioned numbers like 5-7, that’s true, but he since he said he didn’t have any specific number, it was fully open to any number. Anyway… I agree, they put to much effort to promote each member equally and put there a lot interactions with them or with other YG artists. So since this whole pre-debut content was recorded long time enough ago, I would say they would have edited their introducing videos in the way that fans would not fall for some members that much, so it would have hurt them after all

WiseSmellyLegs

Yes… it’s hard to keep people quiet in the age on the internet, so they cannot cover all these “leaks”. Also… Yang Hyun Suk didn’t really had to change his mind, he might have said it just to make this show more interesting or to put them under the pressure a bit for the very end

ThatPatreonThough

It’s giving JYP energy. Like how the Stray Kids show “had eliminations” but we all knew they’d all debut in the end. It’s all media play.

Amanda Araujo

i mean it wasn't fully open to any number since he said he wanted 5 to 7 and by the end of it he did form a 7 member group, only later he decided to change that but yeah given the way they edited it and when they filmed i doubt they wont debut them all

Serena

heyo pd just wanted to let you know that for some reason episodes 31 + 32 and 33 ~ 35 of going seventeen 2021 arent visible anymore for some reason?? or maybe im just not finding them i dont know

billie27

You need to use the tag "seventeen" to find them ! I think you can’t find them bc PD titled these videos « going SVT » and not « Seventeen » but here’s the link : 31+32 : https://www.patreon.com/posts/going-svt-2021-75410311 33+35 : https://www.patreon.com/posts/going-svt-2021-75655730

I don't know I think it's kind of clever in a...twisted way? I don't support or condone YG playing with the members' feelings and exploiting children in the face of mediaplay, but if what YG wanted to do was create more hype surrounding BabyMonster, then he accomplished it. Fans were already looking forward to BaeMon from the Introduction videos alone (they reached 1.2 million subs without even a teaser out that's INSANE), but by sparking outrage, he got people talking about them even *more*. I mean, it was crazy on Twitter and TikTok when it was first announced. A hashtag party trended saying BabyMonsterOT7 and you even had non-fans defending them and saying all the members are talented. I think as soon as the "survival show" is done, their debut date will be announced. It should be anyway, to take advantage of the hype.
