Hey guys PD here!

This will be the definitive last update post of December :)

Just to get the quickest news out the way:

-BTS YET TO COME will still be releasing. I panicked because I didn't realize that there's no official release of it yet, and most of the rips I saw online were absolute gas. But after I made a post about this earlier, one of our Patrons pulled through with a decent quality rip!

For my mental health, I'm going to push the rest of the Award Shows back by a week and instead go camping. They will resume on January 4.

I had a really shitty Christmas where everyone both friends and family kinda bailed on me and I didn't receive any gifts. Gifts aren't important to me but more so the thought. And I was livestreaming a few days ago and viewers were asking me to unlock my SuperChat so they could send me money which I refused. It's quite literally just the thought that matters!

While I'm over it now, I just wanted to give a Christmas gift to myself, and for my mental health I just really need to be in nature at the moment, so I'm going camping tomorrow. I will be back January 2nd and the official schedule for January along with other award shows will be posted January 3rd.

I was also planning to check out AAA and SBS Gayo Daejeon but currently I'm not sure where to watch AAA other than a few random clips online and waiting on a playlist for SBS Gayo Daejeon to pop up on YouTube.

Tier/Patreon Changes in 2023

Starting in the new year there will be two massive changes to our Patreon.

1. $2 Patrons will be a support-only tier.

This is the biggest change I'm making to my Patreon and it took me over 6 months to make this final decision. Going forward, $2 patrons will only receive early access to YouTube videos and that is it.

This is something I mentioned last spring but the $2 tier is unfortunately not sustainable and costs us money. 

This tier will be reserved solely for Patrons who wish to support me and my channel looking for no other reward in return. All bonus drops will be moved to the $10 tier.

I hope people understand that I'm only doing this because it quite literally costs us money now to serve videos to our $2 Patrons. We have to pay for bandwidth for every person who plays our videos, and unfortunately $2 Patronage no longer even covers the cost of just one video.

2. The following tiers will be rebranded as such:

SPRING -> SUPPORT

SUMMER -> SPRING

SUMMER+ -> SUMMER

 This rebranding is purely to make it easier for new Patrons to understand the clear difference in tiers.

3. We are leaving Vimeo

You may have noticed there have been a lot of annoying video issues as of late, and broken links of our older videos. Vimeo as a service has dropped a lot in quality, quite literally their team takes ages getting back to us. We pay them an extremely large amount of money to host these videos and the severe lack in stability on their side is forcing us to leave as they had already screwed us a bit before. 

4. Old videos will be vaulted (eventually) to Autumn tier

It will be a bit of a learning process but we will be hosting our own videos rather than using a second party dealer like Vimeo. Getting into this process has taught us quite a lot and explains why my debt is growing deeper and deeper.

But basically, it costs us money whenever people watch our videos because it requires bandwidth. But imagine, we have like a 1000+ video backlog, and it costs us say $1 when just ONE person watches a single video. Then if you factor in that people watch MORE than one of our videos a month, and then rewatching old content on top of that? It costs a lot.

The only way to combat this is to host videos ourselves to keep our bills cheaper and not raise prices on our Patrons. However, going forward we will start vaulting videos. 

How vaulting will work:

Videos older than 2 months will be vaulted and only accessible to Autumn tier Patrons and up. This means if you join the $10 tier in January, you can watch all January content and all December content. Autumn tier will have no restrictions.

Similarly to our $2 Patreon tier we have to make this hard decision because unfortunately we're like $30,000 in debt due to bandwidth consumption. 

In simple terms, $10 tier patronage barely covers the bandwidth usage for one month and if people continue to watch our older videos, especially rewatching, it will further cost us money.

But if we make these adjustments, we think we can start publishing our reactions in 1080p again.

It's the new year here in Australia PD, so Happy 2023!! This whole comment section feels like a massive dogpile to me, and even though patrons are valid for commenting their thoughts, it's getting a little overwhelming to read the continuous gangup in some comments... I hope you and Blaire can take some time to be with your friends and family and bring in your New Year with joy!

As a longtime patron, I agree with a lot of the reasonable criticism, but some later comments are outright mean. I'm not saying people are not right in what they are saying or that they don't have the right to be upset or unsatisfied, but don't forget that you're talking to another human being who's trying their best. I'm sure PD got the message and they'll respond in a few days so there is no need to write a 200th comment saying you basically hate it here.

not a single comment was mean. some were harsh, but you can't expect other longtime patrons to have endless patience about this at this point. i'm sure everyone here has sympathy for pd and the unfortunate situation they have once again found themselves in. it's just that it is CONSTANT, time and time again the same thing keeps happening, for four years now. and where people's money is concerned - enough is enough.

i just joined the autumn tier because i wanted to watch alice in borderland and it's unavailable. i hope it's available by the end of this month at least.

Are there any updates on when old content will be made available? The lack of clarity and communication with your audience is disheartening. We understand the struggles and complications both work wise and mentally, but please communicate these issues to people before they pay the $17+. It's expensive for a subscription, let alone one that doesn't make available a HUGE portion (above 90%) of content. Consider finding someone private to host your content, because at the minute this subscription is more of a scam than anything. I love your work and adore your critiques and thoughts, I rarely spend money on entertainment as I'm not the most stable financially (most people here aren't, I've noticed), and coming here to support you and your content and seeing your audience and their feelings and own circumstances being dismissed is upsetting and just ignorant from a business and moral perspective.

As someone who's here SOLELY for the variety shows and drama content, i rarely have complaints. I am not here for Idol content. But I guess there's others too. One critique I have would indeed be the late posting of monthly schedule but....... to be fair for the both of you, it's easy to just unsubscribed to the Patreon BEFORE the month ends and just wait for the new schedule before subscribing again that's why I rarely brought it up now. ALSO the scam allegations here are getting out of hand. I just hope both of you are fine and please from now on just refrain from saying promises.

Hello PD! I have been a patreon for about 2 years now! It was (still is) on and off because I struggle a lot financially and can’t afford to subscribe every month (summer tier 10$) I subscribed again today because I wanted to rewatch some of your older stuff of my favorite group and catch up on contents i missed the past few months, I’m a bit disappointed to see that won’t be possible anymore. I think the vaulting thing should be thought out more? maybe given a second thought.. I know running an entreprise is not as easy as it seems, but this is just a new problem among many already existing others, I can’t help but feel like I payed for nothing and it’s making sad. at least please let people OUT of patreons know about this as well so they don’t end up subscribing for contents that isn’t available anymore. I still want to support you so I hope a solution is found soon! obviously you can’t please everyone but if there are alternatives maybe you should consider them, please ? hate to sound like I’m begging but this is unfortunate 😔 And with the prices increasing too.. I don’t think we should pay more for less content

Hey pd&co ! Despite everything i hope youre having greatd holidays ! I have been a summer tier patron for almost 2 years now, it was because i wanted to rewatch iland with you. Some months i watched your content everydays and some months really rarely but i never stopped paying bc i knew i was supporting you. I Considered it recently bc money is quite thight but i have a lot of transport time everyday so i could still justify the cost. But with these changes i dont think i can. When i watch content i dont usually go to the most recent stuff, for exemple i starter watching enoclock recently and many of these reactions were released a long time ago so it will be directly impacted with these changes. I have a lot more exemples like this and if this vaulting thing go through i will probably stop being a patron. I also think this décision will impact on and off patrons a lot bc some shows take more than 2 months to react to so you'll have to pay a lot still. Tldr, please reconsider this vaulting decision, the quantity of content is really an asset of your Channel but many people cant justify paying double to have access to it.

Looking at the stats they have a loss of around 1600-2000 subs every month. And they always seem to regain subs pretty quickly. Would be interesting to see if that happens this month.

It is strange. You would think auto-renew is easier. Must be a normal patreon thing tho because you see the same thing happening at other creators.

New Patreon here, I would have appreciated if such announcement was made public so that I know what I am getting myself into, I’m glad though I’m subscribed to the 2$ tier as I only really care for listening parties. But I did consider doing an annual subscription. Now I’m glad I didn’t, as now I know the changes to be made to this tier, I can’t even imagine if someone did do that though. Ngl you could have easily copy pasted this post on YouTube community as a disclaimer for your new patrons or made that public, but you didn’t and that doesn’t sit right with me. I don’t even know what to say, I feel horrible for you bec I can’t even imagine the situation you are in! you will lose that’s definite, it’s a matter of who you are willing to keep, the few people that pays more? or the more people that pay less? Will you choose to keep the audience of the core of your brand aka listening parties and kpop? or maybe you drifted apart from this and you enjoy the kdrama/anime and these stuff so you will prioritize their audience? It’s a tough choice and I wish you the best with whatever you choose! Please prioritize your health regardless! I advice you to just decrease the load of videos you post, I skimmed through your past schedules and it’s INSANE, not surprised to see delays and stuff, after all what you aim for is humanly impossible so please just lower your load and stay healthy :)

I guess it's not worth it to pay 10$ anymore bec of this vaulting thing. Truly hope you'll find a different way to make this work and to actually publicly announce something, so that people do not need to pay for them to know. For now, i'll be cancelling my subscription.

at the time of subscribing at first i wanted to do the summer tier just to see what the content was like and you've honestly met all my standards + exceeded them and i knew i was thinking about upgrading at some point and this just solidified my reasoning LMAOO.. autumn here i come i guess. its worth it for me rn but im sad to say for others its different :(

I joined at Support level only yesterday and went with annual, in part because I thought front-loading 12 months of payments would be more efficient. In watching your Red Velvet 🧁 listening party of the mini album, I really liked ♡ it and feel my generous outlay has been richly rewarded already with good content. I did want to suggest maybe you could 'Grandfather' (or Grandparent) those who are long or multi-year supporters at the old rate for the foreseeable future as a good will and loyalty reward? You know, give long-term people Autumn for a discounted rate somehow?

I genuinely do not know how any of this bandwidth stuff works and how much it costs you and your team to keep older videos up and sustain the Patreon but as someone who has severe financial issues i can barely afford the summer tier (which i only subscribe to to rewatch older reactions to variety stuff of my favorite groups, listening parties and kingdom and the occasional new reaction to my groups) and already am stuck with being an on and off sub. So now changing what each tier entails, splitting up the content i am interested in and putting half of that into a more expensive tier while at the same time vaulting older videos and adding all the problems with vimeo making over half of the content i am interested in unavailable makes it near impossible for me to keep subscribing. I really like and respect you as a human being PD and i can't imagine how stressful everything must be but i see how other people on here feel similarly. At the very least reconsider the vaulting thing and please get control over the unavailable videos and get them put back. That's one of the few main reasons most of the commenters have a problem with that i agree with. (personally i understand the frustration over late schedule releases but i doesn't bother me too much as long as these schedules are made public so you know what you get before you subscribe) Aside from everything else i do wish you a very happy new year and don't let yourself be put down too much by the harsh words some people have shared on here.

I can tell you bandwidth can get really expensive. There are creators with less patrons and the same amount of videos who can make it work though. I'm not PD's accountant ofc, so I don't know.

Quick question because chances are you might know this, if not ignore me haha, but do you maybe have an idea if its possible making unavailable vimeo links available again? Because i fear all these old videos many want to watch or rewatch will just get lost or will take an eternity to be reuploaded so PD can host them themselves. I assume PD would have to pay vimeo for that to happen but it seems that this option is off the table...

For me I only cancel if I don’t have money for the auto pay in time and as soon as my paycheck hits I join again. I do try my best to make sure I have the funds for it. But I think I might just pay for the year and be done with it.

AFAIK PD has paid Vimeo to 'unlock' the account. But that was 3 weeks ago or something. Also, I have no idea what Vimeo's reasoning for locking the account was. If PD has the original videos they could always reupload them of course.

Looked into this a bit further and the end-of-month drop is called The Dip by Patreon and happens to practically every creator. One of the main reasons seems to be payment methods being declined.

As a long time (maybe 3 years) subscriber I think airing my grievances is allowed. I currently pay $20 a month to consume maybe 2/4 of the content put out. It’s something I’m willing to do because I love the content I do come for. That being said, I can’t say I haven’t noticed a change over the past few years. I’m sure most of it is due to the channel growing and due to that becoming a bit less personal, but it’s difficult for those of us who have been here for so long. The issue of videos being unavailable has been sort of the last straw for me. I 100% rewatch content on here more than I watch current uploads. I’m usually here for specific groups as well as drama club. Most of my time on here was spent rewatching drama clubs from the past. It’s understandable that there was nothing that could be done with Vimeo but it’s disheartening to see the lack of updates. Many people had to pay for this month without an update about all the missing content. Even if there’s little that can be done a simple update saying there’s no update is better than nothing. PD- all I can say is I hope you wholeheartedly take the complaints seriously. I know as a business owner you must make choices that not every will be happy with, but please also consider those of us who have been here with you for so long.

I joined yesterday drama club wanting to watch the penthouse but it’s not available and the PD doesn’t explain or respond to any messages so I feel like I paid soo much money for nothing cause everything I wanted to watch is not working and it’s not we can get our money back. I've never commented on Patreon but i kinda feel justified as other people have the same concern as me. I have an injury rn so i can't work for a week or so. I discovered your youtube channel and i binge watched for hours upon hours because i really really vibe with your personality and input and you're the first reactor i happened to stumble upon who has been following my fav groups for years and is not doing it just because they now got popular. I can't imagine what being in 30.000 dollars dept is like and i know you've been struggling with bandwidth for a long time. That being said, i can barely afford one month of the 10$ tier (13,5 euros for me because i'm from Greece) and i thought now that i'll be in bed for days it's a great opportunity to watch road to kingdom, kingdom and i-land with you. I went to check for puplic updates becuase i know patreon has many flaws but there weren't any. Most of the videos for road to kingdom are not available. If i knew this i wouldn't had subscribed. I can't judge if the changes you're making are worth it or not but i'd like to kindly ask for the updates to be public, it's a small step that could save some people like me money they don't have to spend. Hope you're doing well and i'll still support you if i can
