The visual director explained the gift boxes, the game master basically feels like him giving them a chance is a gift

Amanda Araujo

i love how they make the most simple games feel so tense

Melody

What if all the staff is also in debt but they were the ones that didn’t return to the game.

Ivy Jaggers

There is a theory that if you chose the blue Dakji during the ‘test’ you become a player and if you chose the red you become a worker.

希文 王

so I guess the visual is that he's taking back that gift because they died and lost their chance

Viviena

That’s disproven but logic, actual video footage of the show and the director himself.

Oh it was actually me who responded to the "gladiator games" comment by saying that it was abolished for a reason, kinda like slavery. But actually my last comment wasn't very precise. I don't think the gladiator game is necessarily as bad as slavery, especially if it only involves people (relatively well-off) fighting for honour and glory. I mean, it's still very cruel, but I can see the "realism" of people joining it and enjoying watching it. However I don't think it can ever happen again, as long as we live in a capitalist world. This concept of "honour" is just not a thing anymore. It's all about money now. I cannot imagine average people (who grow up in a capitalist culture) ever risking their lives only for honour/glory, nor can I imagine average viewers enjoying a Netflix show where all the violence and deaths only lead to...honour. This winning price is so unattractive. Not only would this type of show be inhumane, but it'd also be uninteresting and that's arguably a bigger sin lol If a life-and-death type of show wants to be as "fun" and exciting as the Squid Game, I just think that the winning price has to be MONEY and power, or things like land and diamond that have a lot of monetary values. Only the attractiveness of money can possibly overpower the cruelty of violence and make the show entertaining enough to be a popular show. And this is what leads to my belief that a real-life squid game show would be more comparable to slavery, than to the gladiator games. It would end up being a very exploitative game between poor and desperate people who technically consented, but also didn't really have a choice. Its seeming "fairness" is founded on a hopelessly unfair world and its increasingly struggling working class. That's the part that really hurts my conscience. My personality is kinda similar to PD and may be able to enjoy some violent competition shows, but this is a bit too much. I would rather watch billionares like Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk fighting each other to death for global monopolisation LOL

When Ali is trying to get paid from his employer in episode 2 he shows him his fingers to show him what he’s sacrificed working for him…you can see then that he’s missing 2

I'm late, but the part you were confused about with Ali and that guy - I believe it's called Adab, which is a Muslim greeting
