I was not expecting this PD. Thank you, you made my day! Edit: something else I realized as PD was explaining what '소리꾼' meant. When Felix says "I'm not sorry, I'm dirty," 'sorry' kinda sounds like '소리'. I'm not sure if this is on purpose or it just happens to be like this, but perhaps the line has a deeper meaning like "I'm not 소리, I'm dirty."

K

YOURE KIDDINGGG THANK YOU SO MUCH

Rachael H

the noise i made when i got the email that this was posted lmao

Thanks a lot! The music video for this one is actually insane

AAAA I personally LOVED this song, as you said Gods Menu will always have a special place in our hearts but Thunderous is incredible. The choreography is super entertaining to watch because of how interactive the members are and it just suits the song so well! Also. The NOEASY album…….PD. It’s incredible. I absolutely cannot WAIT for you to listen to it. My absolute favorite album to date. So many genres, so much versatility. So so much vocal and style growth. And I’m so happy to hear you will be checking out KINGDOM WEEK! It was fun watching the episodes leading up to this comeback, can’t wait for your thoughts! Thanks for spoiling us!

h.

i thought 나무 meant tree :0

I haven't heard the NOEASY album yet because I've been working like crazy and I don't want to listen to it while I'm tired, but I'm so looking forward to it. Thunderous gives me the same impression of God's Menu, where I don't think they're necessarily the best title tracks in SKZ's discography, but they gave me TONS OF HYPE. They're very great openers if it makes sense. I can imagine Thunderous being an epic opening to a concert, for example. It didn't give a big payoff to me, but it made me crazy for the album, just to see what comes next. Also, my favorite MV of theirs. Loved all the cultural input, btw! Thank you so much for the surprise upload, PD :D

Friendly neighborhood Literature teacher here! (Who’s also a big folklore/fairytale nerd since childhood) So what I was pulling from this mv portrayal is that Stray Kids are supposed to be Goblins in this mv (new universe mayhaps?!) a la the Korean folklore version of Goblins of course. The blue floating fire are will o wisps aka spirits of lost travelers still stuck on earth and manipulated by the Goblins. (Which btw is an interesting cross over with Irish folklore so idk how exactly THAT happened in history lmaooo) The lyrics also support this theory based off of the chorus about the “Thunderous Ones” arriving aka Goblins. Thunder and lightning are said to be proof that Goblins are near, especially if there’s no rain fall accompanying the thunder and lightning. By the way, you can thank ACE’s Favorite Boys cb last year for me knowing all this, they sent me straight down a folklore rabbit hole I haven’t thought of since like middle school ! (ACE trendsetters but we been knew on that one!!!)

christina

i am so proud of this comeback for the boys! they have been through so much and were able to put together such a great album and surpass so many of their previous records! this song is so grand and epic and really shows that they don’t care what others think and will continue to create the music they like!! the rest of the album also shows a lot of these themes so i’m excited for you to check it out!

Kpop_Platypus

Thanks for explaining the title, PD! Google translate was trying to tell me it meant "the vocalists," and I knew that couldn't be right. 😅 I like 소리꾼 a lot, but I think that, objectively, God's Menu is their best title track. My Pace is still my personal favorite, though.

One thing I really enjoy about your channel is getting to hear you geek out about/explain cinematography and filmmaking, and how it affects the storytelling. This reaction is a great example - what you know informed me and now I like the song and video even more than I already did. Thanks!

Anastasija

Just wait until you hear the album because…holy shit

Nobel

The Korean lesson was amazing. Thank you! I was wondering about some of the lyrics while streaming yesterday and this was just what I needed. You da best PD! (Also, I agree with the comment above. I bet the album will blow you away!)

JustCakie

The way you break down phrases we might not know is a big reason I like watching you. You don’t really react you review and I love hearing your take on things

Aubrey Whetten

outstanding as always PD - I learned so much about what they're saying and how they made the video

ris

Thanks PD, this really cheered me up today!

formoftherapy

It’s actually one of those few words that means BOTH! It can mean either tree or wood!

Y

Thank you for explaining this. The main reason I watch your content is to get explanations for those nuances that get lost in translation and the video is so much clearer now thanks to that explanation on the Korean title. I love that Stray Kids are so noisy. from their debut to now they just steadily got louder and more in your face and I love that. I have no idea why people call their music noise when there have been groups older than them who had the most cluttered and noisy music I've ever heard, but they have embraced it and made it their thing. I also appreciate that LeeKnow actually has a full portion of a title track and not just two words in the chorous.

LS

I believe Sorikkun (소리꾼) is also the name used for the singers of Pansori (판소리), a traditional Korean form of musical storytelling. Keeping this in mind, a new layer of interpretation could be added to the video whereby Stray Kids present themselves as the storytellers/singers announcing the arrival of the "thunderous ones", a group of merrymaking and noisy goblins (dokkaebi/도깨비) gleefully pranking the haters.

Lauren Gibbs

Always love your explanations, you never disappoint PD!!

April

I'm almost a little sad this didn't come out before Kingdom, because can you IMAGINE what this stage would have been like???

summar

The whole stray kids noeasy album is amazing 😭🤚

Paige

I watched this video yesterday but didn't really have time to process everything, so I just rewatched it and have some thoughts that I would love to share. :) I love that this song (and album) is basically their response to antis. I personally became a stay after debut but before their My Pace era in 2018 and never heard the criticisms that they're too "noisy" until 2020 when I actually met some other kpop fans in person for my study abroad semester (I stay off of kpop stan twitter cuz that shit is toxic). When I met the other fans, I told them that Stray Kids is my ult group and was not expecting some of the negative reactions that I got. One person in particular felt the need to share the various memes that made fun of SKZ with me. Honestly, it was a tough time even though I kept telling myself that everyone has their own taste and opinion (although shitting on someone's fav group right in front of them is another story). I'm so proud of SKZ and what they've done since debut. They're such a good example of persistance and using the hate they get to come back stronger. Ugh I'm getting emotional. Love them so much and can't wait to see the rest of their journey as artists and performers!! Thanks for the reaction, PD!

i feel like the spitting sound has multiple meanings. on one side, like you said PD, it's kind of showing your distaste for certain things/people but i feel like it can also stand for them working especially hard. (like spitting in your hands before doing a very demanding job) and i mean.. they work so incredibly hard. on so many things, so it's kind of a well earned flex in my opinion.
