Alright so we're beginning The Penthouse! How do I describe my feelings about this show based on this first episode...

I've never more wanted to light a match and burn a room full of people and then I watched The Penthouse. Because I HATEEEEEEE THIS SHOW. I HATE EVERYONE IN THIS SHOW. OH GOD. PLEASE TELL ME THESE HORRIBLE PEOPLE GET WHAT THEY DESERVE.

this show is a headache, there are 3 season if you think this is much oh my gosh there is more to come. this show causes me headache a lot. get ready for a ride, PD is gonna really swear a lot. i wish you would have taken this drama when you are cool headed not with iteawon class but good luck though , get ready for a roller coaster. i have to say season 1 is the most subtile of all three.

Watched season 1 and 2 twice now and the show gives me such a high blood pressure I actually threw my phone at the wall in frustration. Don’t worry PD I hate everyone in this show as well.

I love Kim So Yeon's work, so this show made it a little bearable, but GOD I HATE EVERYBODY AND SEOJIN! But at the same time I can't because it's So Yeon, BUT I HATE THIS SHOW! But I can't because So Yeon is in the show. IDK MAN THIS SHOW KILLS ME 1😭😭😭

Kim Soyeon is sooooo fine! But no matter how good her acting is I can’t believe it because as someone who’s followed her since wgm and knows what she’s really like, a sweetheart and kind of an air head, I can’t unsee that from her

This is so dramatic and ridiculous that I can't even feel frustrated or pissed. I'm literally just amused. Because like you said there's like, literally no one to root for. Like the "underdogs" right now, the daughter is fine but also really belligerent and loud to her mom too -- like I get it, her mom didn't tell her anything but yell at her but... she's not that likable either. The "poor" mom, she's tragic, but also yeah she's also loud and kinda ridiculous. She was pissed and shunned and totally shafted... but she literally... she DID attack hot-villain first and bashed her head everywhere for the trophy??? She was in the right.... up until she literally went crazy and attacked the hot bitch. And then I was just like '???'. I can't really root for either of the underdogs right now. There's literally no one I'm emotionally invested in, except some screwy interest in the main hot-villain. So yeah, I'm not even frustrated by how shitty everyone is bc I don't really care about the victims either... It all just feels like an oddly very funny caricature. That makes me feel a bit like a bad person bc ppl really do exist like this in real life, but also in real life there are more ppl I'd prob care about who are on the losing end and I'll feel less like a distant apathetic bystander.

the funniest part is how kim soyeon (actress who plays the main female antagonist) is famous within the industry to be super kind and softhearted, in running man for example she was so giggly and cute, shes such an amazing actress for being able to pull this role so convincingly

omg i fucking hate how everyone on this show just screams ALL THE DAMM TIMEEE but yeah the main antagonist is soooo fine even her is tolerable compared to all the others on this and btw i just loved so much all the RAGE and frustration you guys let out at the end 😂

I honestly think pd should have started with sky castle before jumping into the penthouse, sky castle was so frustrating but in comparison to the penthouse it's nothing, and considering that the penthouse is 3 seasons idk how the hell is pd gonna go through this, good luck to you pd and all of us watching

twenty minutes into the episode, my guess is the mom is the one in the pretty dress at the start, and her daughter is the one she saw falling from the building (but also I'm mildly face blind so this is pure guess) the music teacher is reminding me of Hyuna okay I've made it half way through, to be super honest I support you burning the entire penthouse I keep on editing but whatever lol; I realize that I've seen the fight scene between the vocal teacher and the mom in school on twitter before, I think because of the dialogue Ps: couldn’t help but read up on it and I am dead wrong but that’s okay

Waaaaa... I tried watching this with both of you but I can't. I'm at the 28min mark and I stopped. The cringe. It's not my thing. Though, while watching this, it reminded me a lot of Sky Castle. I can take the pretentiousness in there better. I really tried watching and even speeding it out but Penthouse is too over the top for me. I'll just wait for the next Itaewon Class haha

Hey PD, new Patreon here. I wanted to check out drama club and I reaply enjoyed rewatching Flower of Evil with you both. I wanted to see how you do drama reactions so I rewatched that here and found I really enjoy your take on storylines, writing and directing. I also have watched tons of tv dramas and movies and feel like we have the same kind of thinking where we want to enjoy shows that are different or gives something new and refreshing plotlines. For me, The Penthouse took me on a long and winding journey and that's what I enjoyed about it: the unpredictability and twists. I'm curious how you guys would take this though and honestly, I'm laughing everytime I hear both of your frustrations so it's entertaining to me 😆
