Ty

the mayfly connection is too strong

Izak

Does the quality only go up to 360p for anyone else?

SanjA1800

My Son lol - Kingdom is really just about Stray Kids becoming adopted kids

Aurayaya

Only 360p for me, anyone else?

kim

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAA, thanks for always working hard to upload!! <3

Julia

You had no idea how long I patiently waited for this 🥲😭

Tesa

haven't even started watching yet, but the MY SON in the caption seriously made me LOL. can't wait to see the full reaction!

ice4fresh

PD if you missed it btw, the mayfly vocal team got all 33 votes in the round. It was only shown for a brief second and the subtitles were blocking it so you probably missed it. Just wanted to point it out. I think they deserved the win but 33:0 seems harsh. :(

I honestly could not choose between the vocal performances. Both teams really touched me just in different ways. I think the only thing that separated them was with mayflys team all members equally stood out more for me since there were only 3 members they could sing longer lines and be heard more. Where as for it’s one team ima be honest baby June (not surprisingly) stood out the most for me. His rare husky yet gritty rock vocal tone added so much diversity to the performance. New’s voice stood out as well. His voice is so airy and angelic. But I’m not lying when I say I started getting emotional a bit during mayfly’s vocal unit. I felt like I was at church 😆 as a first timer who never really listened to much of btob, eunkwangs voice is 😻 he sounds like he grew up in church 😂 I was worried at first especially with jongho and eunkwang being on the same team i felt it was gonna be to much high notes going on but thank got that wasn’t the case. They focused more on those beautiful harmonies 💕 they did amazing. And seungmins voice is always so pretty. They def deserved the win. Now I am a blink myself. And I get its cool to get her to come perform, and we all know she came to get the show more views 😏 but honestly Lisa didn’t do anything for me performance wise. It would have been just as good if it was just ikon. And yeah the cheating comment were stupid haha. ikon kills as always 👏🏾 I loved the classy savage change too. stray kids babies murdered it. By far the beat performance this season. the mashup of gods menu and dududu worked so fucking good I couldn’t take it. The theme was everything. The transitions especially the one part with chris talking to use was so sick.and the dance break at the end gave me life. It wasn’t to much.

The 3:25 is a connection to their debut date of March 25th so your guess there was correct. I loved both of these performances they were both so fantastic in their own rights. Glad to finally get to see your reaction to it. Hope you had a nice vacation.

Malaki.H

is it just me or does new kinda look like jangjun in the studio shot it just suddenly hit me, and jongho reminded me of nct jungwoo for some reason

Donatella

YESYEYSYES im exiteddddddd

Nora Etkame

I’m so glad you posted! I’ll be watching this as I finish writing my thesis which was due 36 min ago lmao.

okay so much to talk about this episode! First of all, there was no doubt mayfly would win this round, at least for me. I was confident about it even before the performance just because I knew what Eunkwang and Jongho were capable of (I'm not really that familiar with Seungmin), but after watching it it was even more obvious. While I do think 33x0 was a little harsh, I completely understand why everyone would vote for them. Also I completely agree and had thought about the difference between their relation and what happened with Bobby with Sunwoo/Hwiyoung, since that was also what I was expecting a bit from that unit as for Lisa in the iKON performance, while I don't see anything wrong with it, I also felt like it didn't really add that much to the entire thing in the end, especially since they never interacted or she didn't do anything different. Feels like a fan could've edited it at home afterwards idk And yes, Wooyoung being Wooyoung. I love the Atz/skz relationship in general, but he is just something else isn't he lol I'm really happy people are getting a little glimpse at his personality through this show

Holly

ugh it breaks my heart seeing it’s one this episode... mayfly deserved the wins so much but i personally do think that it’s one couldve at least won the dance round. losing all 3 rounds and the vocal one by 0:33 has to be a blow :( but as a deobi i can tell that tbz really doesn’t care about rankings anymore so like pd said, as long as theyre happy, i’m happy! all the performances were absolutely legendary and all the friendships and interactions are so cute omg also i saw a picture comparing jacob of tbz to jaeyoon of sf9 and WHY DO THEY LOOK EXACTLY THE SAME lol so excited to watch the next two episodes!

Samantha

Essay length commenting is back again ready for PD's reaction to ep 8! ^_^ So the vocal teams: tbh the reaction that I was looking forward to the most from PD after their insights on the performances from last episode, I felt like they would really have some great input on this round! Its One- All I'm saying is that the Boyz really do deserve more love for their vocalists bc damn they are incredible!!!! Also, to address the main point that people unfortunately are remembering this entire performance for; Inseong's note. Honestly, it wasn't that bad. Like his members said to him in the waiting room afterwards that the best thing he did with that mistake was to finish the note off. Overall, it wasn't enough to fully break the song for me and I think that the full group did such an incredible job this round. They produced a stage that was a fantastic mixture of emotional and intensity that really made this a wonderful song and performance for me as a viewer! Mayfly: oh my god. did I cry during this performance due to the emotional intensity in their voices? maybe so! Listen, this song felt like a musical number, not a pop song and not a kpop song. The arrangement and performance that these men put on stage felt like a story was being told and that they were showing a part of their hearts to us as the audience. Not to mention that Seungmin really got to have his moment in the sun here without completely discounting what the other 2 were putting on stage with him. They clearly deserved this win this round and I'm so proud of them for it! (Also, Jongho and Seungmin musical debuts when???!!!!) ****I felt like this performance gave me the same vibe as when tbz and oneus collabed on rtk. It was just a joy of performing along with a song that had a beautiful message for fellow performers. Anyone else's thoughts? Second Half Performances: iKon: finally finally finally some BlackPink/iKon interactions!!!!!!!!!! We need more tbh. I feel the same for this performance as I did when they covered Inception; I personally like the original better and yet I'm so pleased that iKon rearranged it to fit their YG vibe! It made the performance much more believable for them doing it rather than BlackPink and I found it so incredible! However, you have LISA featuring and you barely use her????? nah, she deserved some more, whether that be a new verse for Kingdom or a dance moment, she should have had more. Still, a fantastic job, overall 8.5/10. Stray Kids: World domination indeed Mr. Bang Chan!!!!!! This is Stray Kids best performance so far in Kingdom imo. They put their own energy and personalities into this stage and really made it something new and fully a Stray Kids stage. Honestly I havent seen a stage this put together and well done since Ateez's Wonderland back in round 1. 10/10 for sure!!!!!! Can't wait for next week with the rest of the groups' performances along with your reaction PD! ^_^

Joey Cheung

honestly coming into the vocal unit performance, i think everyone already expected mayflys team to win. however i think its sad that it's one didn't receive a single vote for their performance. I also think its sad how people are only thinking back on their performance for inseong's missed notes (i also realized that if people only watch the performance clip and not the whole episode they wont know that inseong actually hit that note on multiple occasions) ALSO not very happy with the way mnet edited the cuts for the reactions to inseongs missed note, but that is just how mnet is. For ikons classy savage, I was honestly surprised YG let lisa participate with them, because it's a known fact that YG doesnt actually let them interact at all (usually) so I also think thats the reason why we didn't get to see any interactions of them together on stage.

Réka O.

I've only watched until the end of the two vocal performances so far because I'm too tired right now, but wow the Mayfly performance blew me away! I dislike ballads even more than PD and I barely ever listen to them but this touched me very deeply. I found myself tearing up and I have no idea why. The original song never had any emotional impact on me... the power of the Eunkwang, Seungmin and Jongho trio is insane! I also really liked their chemistry, they just worked together so naturally. I really hope ATEEZ, SKZ and BTOB get to collab even after Kingdom because I wanna see more of this

Anonymous

Blackpink are close with big bang as for winner I don't really know but I know for ikon I think it was Ju-ne who said that yg doesn't let them interact so it was awesome to see them interact a little here

Betânia Camille Backes

This episode was one of my favorites! MAD respect for Eunkwang for the way he works. I could watch him, Jongho and Seungmin practicing for hours, they had amazing chemistry. I didn't know much about BTOB before Kingdom, I just saw them when I watched Pentagon Maker... And now, the main takeaway of this show for me is that they are not only great singers but also great human beings. I appreciate them more and more every episode. About the performance, I get that 33:0 is harsh, but I also understand why everyone would vote for them. Their voices were ethereal, out of this world beautiful. Me fangirling for BTOB aside... I liked this iKON stage, and I actually liked the arrangement better than the original. The only thing that turned me off a bit is that Lisa didn't really interact with them. This had so so much potential, and I know that it might be a YG thing, but it still takes away from the performance for me. It felt a bit disconnected. I loved this Stray Kids performance! I feel like it was very much them. DDU-DU DDU-DU has that "I'm so so good" aura, that songs of theirs like victory song, easy and god's menu have, but it goes beyond that. I feel like in their discography, they have two main sides. One side is really deep and meaningful, like voices, slump, side effects, phobia, hellevator etc. I think this could be seen in their other performances, where there was always some deep meaning or some message about mental health. On the other hand, they have this more playful side, that they didn't really express until now, in songs like the tortoise and the hare, get cool, any, question, god's menu, etc. I feel like they hadn't explored this side prior to this performance, and Deadpool encapsulated this duality very well. He is kind of a hero, but not a traditional one, he always presents that humor and self-awareness that I feel like SKZ has. The other performances lacked this a bit, and bias aside, I have to say that this one was their best (even though my personal favorite will always be I'll be your man). They killed it, it was fantastic, and mad respect for Chan for the arrangement because it was perfect.

Angie

that's odd cause in some performances i felt like he was barely there :/ maybe it's the camerawork

SimplyNas

I found it funny that the English subtitles censored f$#@ boys during Jinhwan’s part but not b*%&$ when Lisa sang. And PD, can’t wait to see your reaction to Ep. 9 next week 🥰

Kpop_Platypus

I usually save PD's Kingdom eps for Sundays, but I didn't get to see the finale live & I figure at this point I might as well wait for it to be fully subbed on Viki & I'm still waiting sooooooo......here I am Friday night. 😅 I was also surprised about the dance battle winner.  I enjoyed Mayfly's more but I thought It's One's would've been more appealing to the judges.  I felt like It's One....tried a little too hard?...in their vocal performance.  Or maybe that's just in comparison with the stripped back concept of Mayfly - whose performance was marvelously goosebump-inducing (and this from someone who's not into ballads). I think Ikon went for the low-hanging fruit in terms of concept again, and I also wish they'd really performed WITH Lisa, instead of sandwiching her in.  It was a well done performance, though; they definitely finally went all out. Side note: Q was way too adorable saying "BP in your area." 😄 I was definitely overwhelmed by SKZ's performance the first time I watched it.  I appreciate it a lot more now that I've sen it a couple times.  They nailed it  start to finish; they were creative & had a solid, cohesive vision that they executed well. 👏 Hopefully I'll have seen the finale before I see you in next week's episodes, PD. 😁

Kiki

I think between the Mayflay v Its One battle the scores should have at least been 2-1 with It's One winning either dance or rap. Mayfly's vocal performance really was beautiful but I think 3-0 was a bit harsh overall. For the Classy Savage performance, I really think Lisa being more incorporated to the performance would have enhanced it a lot more, like you said, if she had been used in the final party scene part. As always, I think they did well to turn another group's song into their own style. I really liked SKZ's arrangement and the mashup idea and I think they executed it really well.

希文 王

for the vocal battle: one hundred percent agree with you pd. something that also tickled me (but it's very minor) was It's One's outfits, they seemed very uncoordinated? some matched but some felt like they were from a different set, and I know that has nothing to do with their performance (also not why I choose Mayfly) but it did bother me a little. Also do not agree with some people saying that It's One should at least have one win, seemingly regardless of how they did because that's not how competitions work, especially one that's not fair like Kingdom (re: what pd said in this episode). (not saying they don't deserve a win, but that people are rarely going to be completely objective, and saying that they didn't get a win is "too harsh" is very weird; this isn't elementary school where everyone gets a prize) I like how Mayfly's vocals kept adding to each other, It's One felt more like layering? I don't know if that makes sense, but I think because of Eunkwang and how he directed and helped the other two, it really came out well and they could build upon each other's voices (also it really felt like they leveled up the song, kudos to them!) Unimportant side note, very admirable how Han's hat never fell off (at least I didn't see it), really liked their performance too! (also Wooyoung lol)

Dianne

I like how PD perfectly interpreted iKON's performance.

I wanna say about the Lisa controversy. The real problem in my opinion wasn't that Lisa was there but the problem was how she was presented and looked like. Lisa was wearing a durag in the performance. So cultural appropriation yet again. Are we suprised that yg did this? Not really. Now I am not black so ofc it didn't affect me but the moment I saw what her stage and her outfit looked like I was like "let me check first if this is ca" and it was, according to Twitter so correct me if I'm wrong. I really wanna like the ikon performance but the fact that it was CA again just kinda ruined it for me. I don't care about the fact that Lisa was there because everyone would use that opportunity. Stray Kids could've also just gotten Twice or Itzy in the performance if they wanted to so yeah I'm not mad about that. I just dislike it because of the CA.

formoftherapy

When I first watched the performance I immediately I thought that Lisa’s head piece was a chain mail head piece inspired by medieval armor andddddd I was right: https://www.brownsfashion.com/sa/shopping/paco-rabanne-silver-tone-chainmail-headband-15421133 And this is also why I’m not on Twitter anymore. Going to Twitter for confirmation shows where we’re at in these times. Twitter is not a news source of an encyclopedia. In fact it’s largely Gen Z kids with a lot of time on their hands making these threads or dedicating accounts purely to drag Lisa. Gen Z is more woke but they’re really woke ONLY on American issues. I’m finding that Gen Z have somehow further bought into the idea that the world revolves around America and with shit American education system they clearly also don’t educate enough on world history. I think for any cultured person and also people who actually know what durags look like, this piece was obviously a chain mail head dress from the medieval ages. Just look at the context of the performance and the context clues should tell you that a chainmail head piece befits the setting more…unless you’re just not cultured on medieval shit. Which I’m finding younger kids are not. I mean Twitter tried to cancel someone for a specific CA “braids” look when they had no idea that it was a traditional Korean head braid that’s literally hundreds of years of tradition. And their reasoning was “it doesn’t matter they need to still get rid of it” or “i don’t care if it’s a cultural difference I have a right to be offended” There are real issues in K-Pop but this one? This one is definitely not it. No one did the research and it only affirms that Twitter is not a source of information to trust. Use your own judgement; don’t let others tell you what to think!

Tyisha

I 100% agree with you for the dance performance. Being an Atiny, I really think Mayfly was a little chaotic to me. I liked It's One way better has a performance. Everything else with Mayfly, they did deserve to win

Alex Lee

JuTaeHyuk :( I strongly believe they should win dance category. From choreography itself to concept everything was amazing. But I am just happy they met each other and enjoyed that performance together :) Junhoe and New' s voices.. they complement each other soooo well. I need duo.. and spark and Full DaSH studio ver.. but I guess I want too much lol And if we don't get iT'S ONE collab on kcon what the point of this all????? But generally I enjoyed round 3 the most. All those collab stages, cute interactions and amazing performances from part 2. That's literally what I've been waiting from kingdom for so long.. ..

Sakura

I think Stray kids stage was their the best one so far. The song arrangement was dope. What bothered me a little bit was the fact that the concept was too similar to ATEEZ RE-BORN. I am not saying they copied or get inspired by it, I am just saying that both of them where "anarchy vibe" and social rebellion centered. Also both of them had guns and even Chan on the tank remembered Honjoong on the podium. The outfits and colors used were also way too similar. This is not Stray Kids fault, it has to do with the team behind them. When designing the stage originality should be a must and I think the song was different from what we have seen before because Chan produced it, but the rest was not. Since it is a competition the kingdom teams should try to make their groups stand out and not bring something similar to what we have seen the week before. Please, understand what I'm trying to say is constructive and I can get two different groups can choose royal concept for exemple, but the delivery can still be very different. Stray kids delivery in talent and skills was untouchable, my problem here is with the production team.

Tenken

Pretty much agreed. For Vocal I think Mayfly overwhelmingly won. For Dance, I think It's One definitely should have won. And for rap, while I personally enjoyed the Mayfly perf more, I think the battle was a bit more even-sided and I wouldn't be mad if either side won.

SanjA1800

Lol just came back to say I read a comment somewhere that said the 'No Limit' part of Stray Kids performance was the JYP pabo message and I can't stop laughing

Marcela Pereira

I just wanted to say that It's One vocal performance was my favorite.

Angie

everyone wants to be all 'okay but bobby, sunwoo and hwiyoung didn't show much, their stage was boring, they didn't bring much to the table or utilize the 'no limits' of the round' but seungmin, jongho and eunkwang are arguable the best vocalists here (much like bobby was in his team) and i could say the same to them. Yes, arguable they are better vocalists, but it's one team had much more texture and styles of vocalists which made the song more enjoyable and the performance in general was better.

Angie

I wouldn't say it's a joke, Bobby said in an interview (video, btw, since text can be misinterpreted) that they're not allowed to speak or interact with their female groups in the company. Also he wasn't allowed to get his license and stuff, because they wanna keep an eye on them. This was in like, 2017, and maybe they let up on it? But seeing this, I don't think so. Which is odd cause they meet backstage, so it can't be cause of covid (which is what some people's excuses were?).

Anonymous

Your feeling is right, Eunkwang did grew up singing at church (you should check out his duet with his mother on immortal song, she's an amazing choir singer). Also as incredible as his voice is, Eunkwang said that he's the happiest when he sings with other people, if he had to choose between harmonizing and a solo he'll always take the harmonies.

Anonymous

I've been a Melody since 2016 and I still learned something incredible about BTOB while watching this episode, and it's Eunkwang's leadership in music. Like strangely it's not something we get to see a lot as he himself is more likely to bring the spotlight onto the producer line (hyunsik, ilhoon, minhyuk), or hype up the others vocals. If we pay attention, we can get some glimpses of him leading the random harmonizing in their waiting room, but btob is so damn chaotic it's very easy to miss. But here, since Jongho and Seungmin looked like absolutely adorable ducklings following their new mama, it was way more apparent and easier to appreciate. Eunkwang's cues with BTOB are almost invisible as they're so used to sing together. With Seungmin and Jongho, they were more visible and it reminded me (and Melody as a whole) how he guided his mom during their duet on Immortal Song. It really emphasizes how BTOB is BTOB because Eunkwang is their leader, and why all of them can not imagine anyone else in this place. I also think his core motto was brilliantly passed onto Jongho and Seungmin : "Trust your technique, show your heart". Watching Stray Kids' reaction to Seungmin during the rehearsal makes me think that sometimes groups have great vocalists but don't really know how to make truly shine and I think it's because there's so much focus on the "woah" factor of high note they never really think about using the middle and low range of their vocalists unfortunately, or at least to make it the killing point of the vocal part. I get the feeling that it's something 3racha might take into account in their future songs. I have to say I'm hoping for a Ju-ne Inseong duet/collab because they seemed to get along pretty well and I think their voices would be great together. I was also pretty shocked to realize how much Sangyun reminds me of Hyunsik when he sings. I loved the mix of voices It's One had, I think if they had gone maybe in a bit lower range and more rock so it would have blended more with Ju-ne's voice I might have liked it even more. I did like the arrangement but i think it could have had a little bit more punch and would still have showcased their voices beautifully. I did felt what PD talks about with them, a sort of "ping pong" between beautifully sung lines while Mayfly sounded a more whole. The vibes with It's One and Mayfly are so different it's crazy. It might have been easier with Mayfly because it was the two makne teams with the oldest one, while It's One seemed closer in age but iKON's seniority was hard to forget despite the fact iKon's members didn't seem to know what to do with their seniority, which is super understandable considering they were the same age and sometimes younger than other groups' members.

Anonymous

I'm a YG fan, but I really agree with you that It's One team may have felt awkward because IKON didn't know what to do with their seniority (there is not much age gap). Overall felt like It's One team lacked direction and senior leadership that Mayfly benefited from.

Kimberly Su

i think that only the dance unit was one where I heavily disagreed with how the voting came out. i felt it was more theatrics than the kind of dancing i wanted. Mayfly dance unit felt like it would feasibly be part of a year-end or award show performance but It's One dance unit felt and looked like a passion project. for the vocal unit, i was mostly just righteously indignant that not a SINGLE judge gave their vote for It's One when I felt both vocal performances were on par in terms of the skill and utilization of vocal diversity they had available. And I should clarify that I'm actually a Melody though this show has made me reconsider my stance on being an ikonic bc with every performance i just grew to love them more than when I casually listened to their title tracks

Mesha ✌︎

i also preferred "it's one" dance unit the story telling was insanely good!!

Mesha ✌︎

oh you recognized sangyeon! I'm proud

ATINY Song Jihyeon

Wooyoung's "MY SON AND MY BOY" Have to be the most heartwarmingly, Random and funny things I've ever heard him say among other things hahahaaa! Still can't help but laugh and giggle every time I watch this episode/Performance! <3

Anonymous

I was surprised that Jeongin didn't join the Mayfly vocal unit. The only reason I can think of for him not joining the vocal subunit is that he was shaken by the slip-up in I'll Be Your Man. It's a shame we never got to see his full vocal potential

Grace Lee

I preferred It's One dance performance over Mayfly's too. I really thought they were gonna win that one

Jerin

Watching this in 2022, bit delayed. Was this video removed? I can’t seem to access this episode, but the next episode is available.

:( ohh it's not available

I cant see the episode either. Can you re-upload the video?
