PD on your point about the victims revealing/accusing idols of bullying is unhealthy and not helpful in their recovery. I agree and disagree, I see your point working in a situation where the bully is a normal person. But when your bully is an idol you see their faces plastered everywhere, see hundreds of thousands of people worshiping/praising them on a daily. You are simply exposed to them all the time and I can understand how victims have a hard time "getting over it" when that's the environment they are in. An example of this is how the "alleged" victim of Soojin from Gidle shared that she reached her breaking point when friends and people around her started to praise Soojin.

Thank you so much for answering the question!! I also agree with how weird some of the accusations come out at times... Sometimes while reading through the statements I also wonder why they came out trying to ruin that idol's career when what they address happened ages ago and honestly kinda sounds like kids drama (obviously not referring to cases like actor Jisoo's were things are weird as hell and he should be held accountable for what he did). It's just that lately it feels TOO EASY to come out and drag someone down, even when there is no concrete proof. Obviously fans that baby their idols and support them unconditionally and blindly (like what you said about some fans still supporting Sungri) are a big issue too, but maybe we are moving from one extreme to the other, where anything that's posted online is taken as true... Idk, just feels off to me

About the bullying part, I feel like a lot of people don't know how to talk about something without having to "take sides". Everyone is just going straight into the drama without being able to look at it objectively, which can be normal in sensitive subjects like this, but like DON'T DIVE IN IT THEN. Do not give your opinion on other people's trauma. But completely agree with everything you said.

About the versatily for girl groups...I agree with you that it at least feels that people are more accepting of boy groups experimenting with their concepts than girl groups and I don't know why. I think every group be it boy or girl should be allowed to experiment more with their sound, even if just on b-sides initially, to actually find their true colors. And it's not about switching concepts completely...it's about expanding and trying new things without discarding 100% what you were doing before, just like your example with Golden Child. I feel that on the other side Lovelyz was never allowed to experiment much in the past 6 years even though they always talked about wanting to do a lot more. About promotions, I feel that people also forget that we are still in the middle of a pandemic, so small and medium sized companies are taking a hit because they can't do a lot of things that they used to do before to promote like university festivals, smaller events and stuff, which were crucial for the survival of super nugu groups before. If even SM saw a decrease in their profits because none of their artists could tour last year just imagine how bad it must be for the smaller companies.

I’m a bit late to comment, but I totally agree with what you’re saying about the people accusing idols of bullying, as well as the people jumping to have the idol’s life completely ruined. It’s very performative to me, because at the end of the day, this bullying issue seems to be deeply ingrained within the ways Korean schools function, and forcing some idols to go on hiatus is doing absolutely nothing to solve the issue.
