Fun fact: Jessi debuted as a vocalist then became a rapper. Also you should check out her last come back ‘who that b?’ It’s great.

So you never saw the Iconic Hyolyn X Jessi Cover of Diamonds by Rihanna? You are missing out! https://youtu.be/sQmJ6sVHecY

I'm a bit disappointed that there was no commentary at all on the relatively blatant anti-Blackness in this music video - the use of Black hairstyles, the red/yellow/green color scheme, her lyrical flourishes, and certain dance moments were all highly appropriative in a way that I found really uncomfortable to watch, especially given Jessi's track record with appropriation of Black culture. I'm curious if anti-Blackness in kpop/k-hiphop is something you're willing to talk about in future Kulture Study videos and reactions?

If you liked this, I think you'll like her previous comeback, Who Dat B, as well. She sings in that as well so you might wanna check it out.

If you think Jessi vocals are insane.. you should watch her sing LIVE on Mcountdown.. she HIT EVERY NOTE LIVE! and the HIGH NOTE adlibs while dancing... im SO impressed by JESSI this comeback. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UYto4QevRAo

Jessi is an amazing vocalist and I prefer her singing voice over her rapping. There's a lot of Jessi singing out on YouTube and had a song called Romeo fir an OST sounds amazing really shows off her powerful raspy vocals. I don't usually like Jessi's title song but this one is more my style, I like her singing in this, and really really like this song.

BaoziBang

I just finished her Album and DAMN! You really have to check it out! At least the Songs Star and Put it on ya featuring Nafla and BM from KARD!

2021-07-18 05:25:20 I’m not black. So I don’t know what’s anti blackness and what isn’t. Like for example: lyrical flourish? How is that anti black? I’m not saying it’s not but I have no idea. That’s something that should be done by someone who is black. With that said, absolutely it’s appropriation but I don’t think appropriation is ANTI-BLACKNESS. Appropriation can’t mean anti blackness; Those two words would be an oxymoron. Anti-blackness would be to be hate, be AGAINST, and hate black people and everything related to black culture. Whereas appropriation comes from liking that culture’s aesthetic and biting/taking it for your own gain. Is it harmful? Yes. But it’s not “anti”. And if it were, that would mean everything ever is anti-black. Rapping, rock, fashion, r&b, EVERYTHING is appropriated from black culture. Pop culture is largely inspired and pioneered by black artists. That would mean even little girls in KPOP groups are anti black since they’re rapping and using trap beats or drum patterns. So tldr I would say there’s no commentary about anti blackness because I disagree with your definition of anti blackness. I see appropriation but I see appropriation in EVERYTHING. And whether that’s OK or not is not my place to say because that’s something someone who is actually black has a better understanding of.

Hey PD. I just listened to Jessi new Album... and holy... she sings SOOO MUCH! And her VOICE?!? I can’t pick a song to reccomend because they’re ALLL that good!

As someone who is black, (not that I'm the authority on blackness) appropriation is a widespread issue within Kpop which PD has addressed severally in his videos. If he were to address that in every one of his videos it would no longer be 'form of therapy' as he doesn't even put out some reactions because they're too negative/he didn't like them. That's not an excuse not to talk about appropriation though that just my thoughts. Additionally, when PD does talk about it it's very clear his position on it. To answer your question if you haven't already check out PDs Road to Kingdom reactions he speaks on it on there. If I think of any other videos he's addressed it in I'll let you know. I hope you don't feel attacked that's not my intention at all. BIG LOVE. <3

I went to K CRUSH 2019 concert in Thailand last year. Jessi's vocal is real. Her Voice, Her English, Her Stage performance, and Entertain skill so amazing! If you have a chance. Don't miss her concert!

Jessi once again didn't dissapoint. This song and choreo are soo catchy. And her vocals really shine here.

Jessi was once on King of Masked Singer and has an amazing ballad Don't Make Me cry, which really shows how skilled she is!
