It’s called María because that’s her baptist name. She even has it tattooed. The song is basically her talking to herself. Like why do you focus on the hate? You’re beautiful, why can’t you see that? And her members showing up in the end could be about a reminder regardless of what people say that they’re always there supporting her.

I definitely would say the scene with the pencils are suppose to imply her being attacked with made up stories or articles being written to drag her image. Hwasa is truly a beautiful and talented woman.

Hwasa was in charge of the storyline for the MV and she said in the MV Making that the last scene is rewinding back to the time before María's death and how things would have ended differently if she wasn't alone, that's why she invited the members for that last scene.

I wish I knew a little more about it, but I feel like most of the MV portraits the struggles she faces as an idol. At the start she is dead, so it seems to me like a "worst case scenario", but at the end when the rest of the members come in I think it means she's not alone facing all this things. In a way, they come in to protect her from her own thoughts. Anyways, sorry if this didn't make much sense? My English skills aren't cooperating today :/

ahah felt the same way about that odd switch up, it was so abrupt that i should have hated it but somehow hwasa and her main producer still made it work very well (reminds me of my first reaction to zimzalabim) btw little theory: you probably know by now that Maria is Hwasa herself (her baptist name) or a sort of alter-ego, and if you haven't heard yet apparently the beginning scene with the lighter is a reference to an italian movie in which the main protagonist is woman admired by many men but hated by women, and to me here the lighters kinda represent how that attention affects her with those who love her as much as they want to be loved by her (by helping her light her cigarett) but ultimately this cause her death (as she slowly kill herself by smoking) and the funeral scene being empty while on the other end the scene of her death is full of papparazzi shows that people only payed attention to her when they could gain something from it but in the end none of them really cared for her. I won't explain the lyrics as imo it's pretty easy to understand that in this song she calls out her haters for feeding themselves off of her sadness but also herself (Maria) for even listening to them and trying to please them, when she is so beautiful already. And based on all of that added to the way the 'dance break' was portrayed in the m/v here's my personal theory: it seems like this part is ultimately Maria finally breacking free from this 'prison' of attention she was stuck in (with the expected latin sound & choreography finally coming out in the song titled Maria) as if Maria was finallly being her true self for a short moment, forgetting everything else (notice that the previous scnene of her in the straitjacket is also the last time we see that outfit/decor: she is no longer afraid/ mentally restricted + there are no lyrics in this part: only hwasa/maria dancing, enjoying the moment) but inthe end reality hits back (the shot portraying hwasa looking at maria in the now bloody pool, right before the 'traumatic bridge' + and the return of the funeral scene). And to add to what others said here about the last scene with her members: this the same scene in which she is holding a pair of scissors as if she was going to hurt herself (maybe even commit suicide if we go back to the start of the mv) so basically the girls saved her / their friendship is what permitted her to hold on for so long. Oh and the nail crown seems to portray the price of fame : she can be the queen if she wants to but for that she must pay a price and go through the pain that comes with it.

That's a really interesting theory! A lot of that makes sense. Just wondering if you had any ideas about the beginning scene with the people at the table, the jewelry etc and the blood spattered clothes, and organs.

Leon

I hope you would check her album.. She worked hard on it participating in producing and lyrics writing

Mina

Ahhh! I couldn’t figure out why the set with the nude and grey outfits made me slightly uncomfortable every time I watched the MV, but as soon as you made the reference to the morgue it made sense. I guess my subconscious got it before the rest of me did haha
