I have to disagree with you on the set design needing to be more full. I believe it hammers home the theme of isolation in the song. The moving on, being strong, independence. I think it's reflected well in the set design. The lack of color could arguably tie in to that, talking about how the blue has become sad, mentions of "cold", love is darkness and can't be turned back. Just my thoughts.
