Should PD watch I-LAND 2?

We've heard mixed reviews about the show itself being bad, but have also seen a lot of comments on Patreon requesting that PD watch.

If yes, we will start watching in September. This would be available exclusively to Groupy, Groupy+, and Groupy First tiers as a bonus because it is 3-6x longer than our regular variety content and will take much longer for PD to film. K-pop First tiers can still enjoy our regular variety content of 4 Boy Group and 4 Girl Group videos per release week.

Poll closes Friday 8/16 at 9am PT!

"the survival show being bad" agenda has been there for every single show. It's not worse than any other mnet shows you watched before.

el

If you heard people call it bad it's just because their favorite trainee didn't make it, the actual quality is perfectly fine. Every survival show has the same stale "it's rigged" criticism. It's like any mnet survival show.

shudoon01

I didn’t watch it fully myself, as someone who watched I-land s1, and I watch all survival shows but I think there’s better survival shows to watch? - but I’d still watch with PD if he watched it

Kuro Kurt

The things making it "bad" I am 90 % shure PD would like

Molly Leary

I watched the whole thing and it was super fun to watch! Lots of talent and I’m now super excited for the debut group! Completely understand people giving bad reviews because their favorite might not have made the group, but it’s still worth the watch imo.

Aine

For MNet's standard, I think it's a little more frustrating than normal. Still worth of watch, for the girls, but how they treated certain contestants, it was hard to watch. And I'm saying this as someone who got almost my ENTIRE choice lineup. In contrast, Produce Japan, A2K/Nizi Project, Chuangasia Thailand, even Universe Ticket to some degree, were good shows with low drama.

hibou

I know I wrote something similar on a previous post, but the final lineup is really worth it! The contestants are really talented and I personally enjoyed watching the show. Would definitely upgrade if PD decides to watch it.

Theia

The show falls victim to the typical survival show problems like judges being biased af towards certain contestants, visuals often being worth more than actual skills and the live audience voting based on popularity and not the actual performance. But we still got probably the best final line-up in a long time. So I would say it's at least worth watching the missions and performances.

Audrey

I think there are better ones like "Girls on Fire" or "Peak time" but it is what it is haha I'll probably watch it with you but I would prefer you to watch something else tbh

FroggyMuds

I personally really enjoyed it! I'd def watch if u did

Julia

But the line up… I say it’s worth it 🤩

Shira-Ou

Honestly the only time I've watched survival shows is through your reactions xD

alex -_-

I would rather see you watch A2K, it’s much more wholesome!

alex -_-

Or nizi project, which is also jyp and like A2K, but Japanese 🤍

ThatPatreonThough

I’d much rather Queendom Puzzle. So many underrated girl groups in there. Plus, one of your faves in tripleS is on there (Jiwoo).

WiseSmellyLegs

The biggest “problem” I have is wasting PD’s time over it, because the time could be spent: 1) Doing something else of PD’s preference (which does not have to be Patreon related) 2) Watching different survival show, which has better feedback from the viewers 3) Watching more content which could be for lower tiers too, therefore more patrons can enjoy that Like… if the group catches PD’s interest once they debut, there will be more content to get to know them. As it is now, PD does not know them (obviously), but we are questioning whether it is a good idea to watch “questionable” survival show and spend the time over that (and by “the time” I mean A LOT of time considering the length + PD’s thoughts/opinion there…). I guess if PD wanted to watch that during its airing time, my point of view would have been different.

WiseSmellyLegs

I have suggested A2K so many times and I would love to rewatch that with PD. Or… finally watch Nizi Project with PD here!

Edward Lee

Lots of peeps have kinda said what needs to be said....it's a typical MNET survival show (evil editing, company biases, a cpl surprising eliminations, etc) but given the final lineup it turned out about as expected as possible. Some of the evil editing was kind of eyebrow raising in the sense that it kind of comes out of nowhere but I wouldn't say it was a failure of a show One thing though.....it has the I-Land set up and structure but it's PAINFULLY obvious the budget for I-Land 2 was drastically less than the first season. Don't go into it expecting the same production quality that I-Land had and one thing I will say....the judging panel was pretty blah (actually they were painfully boring and had literally zero chemistry with each other)

WiseSmellyLegs

I agree and I don’t want to say anything bad against the line up, but to be fair… Mnet edited the show in the way to make viewers like those ones they wanted to debut. So basically… it is obviously “the best line up”, since they did not really let people to get into other contestants to the same/similar level. (Maybe with one exception, which is not that surprising if you think of the screentime of that member in the second/later second half of the show…)

Alex P

It isn’t as dystopian / Lord of the Flies as the first I-Land, plus I think this is a group that you will care about. I say go for it.

Bella ⋆. 𐙚 ˚

Honestly I would rather see PD watch another stuff

Annika

Its a typical mnet survival show, had very biased judges, but it was far from bad, I actually really enjoyed it and the final line up is actually worth it...

WiseSmellyLegs

🤔🤔 technically only 1 or 2 of my favorite contestants made it, but in their case I knew they were the ones, who would make it, but the other ones I liked a lot did not make it and this fact does not make me say it is a bad show. I don’t recommend the show, that is true… but because of the fact that the show is pretty much super predictable and by the end my mindset was: “Whatever… Let’s just finish this show… the end is not that far”

el

I think most survival shows I like are predictable, the contestants who were popular at the beginning stay popular and make it. And I like it that way, saves me stress and worry. Boys Planet was insanely predictable but still my favorite survival show I've seen.

minghow

I'd rather see you watch 'Peak time' (survival among existing groups that have disbanded or recently debuted and need a boost of publicity) or 'Build Up' (vocal boy group survival) honestly!

WiseSmellyLegs

Rather than “bias judges” I would call that “scripted judges”… Their feedback was so different every time for the drama effect and the more the show continued the more I started to think they don’t care at all and they were there just as “actors” 😅

WiseSmellyLegs

It is hard to tell whether PD will be interested in the group, but obviously survival shows have this effect of making a person being interested in the group regardless of how many favorite contestants made it. But then the question is… since the show ended already, isn’t it better to decide whether to watch it after their debut?

RoNNieTP

As someone who watched the show and has only 1 from my ideal line-up not making it in the end. I think it’s pretty enjoyable enough if you are familiar with typical Mnet show but there are some bad aspects like many comments have already mentioned so I will say it’s up to you to decide. You can actually check out only performances of the show and jump straight to the group IZNA itself and I think it will still be fine and you would not have to experience the pain of your favs potentially not making it.

WiseSmellyLegs

I did not watch I-Land, so I don’t know what budget was there. But I assume it might have had something to do with the fact of Belift Lab being back then co-owned with HYBE, therefore they put the money there too, I guess? This time it is WakeOne-only with The Black Label being guests there to make the music for them.

el

Isn't it better to watch it before they debut so he could experience it with the rest of the people who watched? If he sees their debut and then watches the show, it's completely spoiled. There's no tention or getting invested when you already know who makes it. Plus if he starts it in September, he'd be done around the time they debut anyway.

krista li

Id prefer if you watched Peak Time or hold off on a survival show until the next Road to Kingdom: Ace to Ace comes out! 😸The New Six, Oneus, and Tempest are among the groups competing, and will be out in September

Chloé

It's just my opinion, but instead of taking so much time on a survival show most people won't really be interested in, it could be interesting if instead we had concert/fanmeeting/showcase reactions in that slot since they're just as long as a survival show episode. Obviously if PD really wants to watch a survival show I understand, I'm just leaving my idea here just in case.

Ruth

I'd much rather see you watch Peak Time

WiseSmellyLegs

I thought about that too! Since PD watched Kingdom shows before and The New Six and Younite will be there, it would be wise to spend the time with this show, which will start in September, so the timing would be perfect

poptart2003

I think watching build up would be pretty cool and different

WiseSmellyLegs

I see your point, but based on your another comment here, does it really matter in this case? As you said/agreed, it is predictable, therefore the show does not surprise him that much… And PD is already thinking about watchin NCT Lastart because he has started to be interested in NCT Wish, so this attitude/idea would not be applied for the first time

Aine

I would like to see you react to more survival shows in general tbh, if not I-land. It's been awhile since your last one (I think it was Boys Planet?) Like, I desperately want you to see Nizi Project, because I think you would actually really enjoy the format!

Aine

NIZI PROJECT OR A2K PLEASE! Plus, it's a shorter show overall so it's way easier to watch

Sven Lenders

Like, I-LAND 2 is a pretty decent show with very talented trainees. The problem for me lies with the judges. It honestly feels to me like they had a group and a concept in mind before even starting the show. The signal song to me already revealed that it would be a girl crush type of group (I've got to say, the fact that they straight up copied "Final Countdown" as the signal song wasn't very creative). Besides that, I still don't know who actually owns this group. Is it WakeOne or TheBlackLabel? And what was Song Kang's role in the whole show (I didn't understand that with the host from I-LAND either). The whole set-up of this show is weird. As I see other people saying, Peak Time is a really good show to watch. So is Make Mate 1 and maybe even The Unit or Mixnine (while those are very old already). Peaktime is a show where different groups (either already debuted or in the debut process) are competing to get a comeback with a bigger budget then they could get by just promoting themselves (they are all basically under smaller labels and pretty unknown). The catch behind this show is that the group name stays hidden until later in the show. Make Mate 1 is a show where trainees compete to make their debut in a new boy group. The show works by forming "Mate" groups. The show has several special judges that give their opinions on the trainees. The catch is that none of the trainees are under a label (exept for some trainees under Chromosome by mister Lay Zhang himself). The Unit was kind of the same as Peak Time and RTK were, but the difference was that people could just join on their own (like Hwanhee and Dongyeol did on Boys Planet). The show actually consisted of boys and girls. One of the things I liked about this show is the amount of "talent" was in that show (what i mean by that is like TALENT, just things you wouldn't see right now in shows). besides that, you will see some familliar faces and how they started. Mixnine would be the same as The Unit, the only big difference is that Mixnine focused more on trainees than on debuted idols. The only annoying thing about these last 2 is that they are pretty bad quality Some names that you would see on those shows would be: Peak Time (DKB) MA1 (Yuseop from Boys Planet) The Unit (A.C.E. members) Mixnine (ATEEZ) I won't spoil more names because that takes away all the fun. I would highly recommend you to await the debut of the I-LAND 2 group because they are really good. It's just that the show isn't entertaining to watch (to me it feels like a drag when you watch it, and I get annoyed by the judges comments which aren't validated properly)

Kuro Kurt

Most things i could say would be spoilers so vibes for the most Part But if i have to say sth i would say PD thinks like an PD

Edward Lee

Could be....but then again, the ILLIT show seems like it had NO budget. I have no idea who pays for these ventures but I'm guessing the network itself at least tries to secure as much PPL as possible given how often they do these product selling breaks in the middle of every episode. This is just pure speculation but I Land was finalized pre-covid (even though it was broadcast during covid) and I land 2 is post covid so Im sure there just weren't as many companies with as big marketing budgets to buy time on I Land 2 in comparison to I Land

WiseSmellyLegs

I agree! I respected PD’s decision, which he said a while ago, which was something like: “Me doing survival shows reactions is most likely over, because it is too time consuming” But if there is a chance for survival shows to be back, it would be nice to have a poll which ones people would like to watch

Edward Lee

If it's voted No, I will say, the actual performances for i Land 2 were pretty darn good if you just want to react to those

krista li

I rewatch the first RTK and Kingdom so much so I'm very much looking forward to the new one. TNX are under that list of "My Sons " 😅

WiseSmellyLegs

It is WakeOne’s. The Black Label took care of the music only and Teddy will produce their debut song

Haruka

Not the show, tbh. But maybe a selected few performances?

Edward Lee

lol the Song Kang thing was brought over from the first season when the actor Namkoong min played the narrator role as well. It was totally obvious that they just went into a studio for a single day and recorded everything then never came back. Like MNET wanted to be able to use their popularity to market the show as them being part of the show but it's obvi no actor wanted to stick around for that long and do that every episode (inf act, I think Song Kang was actually in the army at the time). I agree.....super bizarre

Sven Lenders

Okay, I get it now. The only thing I don't understand then is why he wasn't in the show? When he produces a song, I feel like he would be the key person to seek out who fits whitch parts and make the songs maybe even fit certain people. I feel like they needed to make the group fit TEDDY's style of music, and that is just straight up manipulation of the show.

Edward Lee

i agree.....think fans tend to think that judges are biased but it's all scripted (ESPECIALLY in shows where all the contestants are from 1 company). Wakeone has the group they want to debut and are just using the show to build recognition. While vote manipulation will never happen again, they very much can dictate the narrative

WiseSmellyLegs

Good observation! 🤔🤔 The thing with R U Next? (The Illit show) is originally Belift Lab (and HYBE) planned it as I-Land 2, but HYBE bought the second half of shares of CJ ENM to own Belift Lab fully, but CJ ENM/Mnet wanted to keep the brand “I-Land”, so Belift Lab (now fully owned by HYBE) had to come up with a new show, so maybe there was not much time for proper preparations and everything

Jesse

I really enjoyed it! It was a good follow up to the first season in my opinion and I miss seeing you react to survival shows (since you haven’t done queendom puzzle or RU next 🥲)

RoNNieTP

Yes, each episode is pretty long and there are too much fillers in each episodes (especially in Part 1) that I hope PD can use his time to anything else other than watching 20+ hours of the show instead of probably 2 hours of performances at most.

WiseSmellyLegs

I thought that (about Teddy being involved more) too… but… I don’t want to sound mean towards the girls, but Teddy and The Black Label in general have not really given a fvck about the group… Some time ago The Black Label started to stand on their own, because Teddy bought the biggest share of stock YG used to own, which meant The Black Label stopped being YG’s subsidiary. And obviously Teddy wants the public to recognize them (The Black Label) as a label on their own and not as YG’s subsidiary anymore. Therefore this opportunity provided him to present The Black Label “to the world” and that is pretty much the reason, why they are involved in this. From Mnet’s side it was about: “Let’s present this as “the group made by Teddy, who took care over BLACKPINK and other big acts”, so basically they used that to catch people’s attention. As it is now, only the debut song was said to be produced by Teddy, I am not sure if there is any contract with Teddy to produce more after the debut. I don’t want to say izna will get “left over music” if there is more to be produced for them… in that case I can imagine Teddy provides a dedicated team from The Black Label for the group, but that will be pretty much it. Long story short… they made this deal for the marketing purposes for both sides and there it ends 😅

Neeko

I guess one of the draws to watching the show are the contestants themselves. They all have unique personalities and talents that have a lot of charm. Some of the other survival shows people listed are good (Peak Time/Queendom Puzzle) but the stakes are not as dire because they've all debuted compared to shows like GP999 and BP where you have trainees who are fighting for their dream. At the end of the day, it's totally your call as to what you would find enjoyable. I personally really enjoyed I-Land 2, the judges, the performances, the character growth, and found myself rooting for the contestants who made it to the final group as well as those who got eliminated. And it's the first time my one-pick made it in lol.

WiseSmellyLegs

To add to your last paragraph of the original comment of yours: Obviously judges like TaeYang are “too far in their career to care about a new group like this” 😅😅 and besides this fact… it all comes down to what I said about the collaboration with The Black Label… Those judges were sent there just to “represent the face of The Black Label” and since it is not their group, they were there just as “actors” with script by MNet of what to say. Obviously I don’t know this information officially, but based on their inconsistent feedback and mainly the fact that VVN had really low screentime (because apparently she did not want to play this “drama game” with them), I think they were just told what to say and who to choose

Bella ⋆. 𐙚 ˚

Honestly in my opinion I prefer if instead we had concert reactions since they're just as long as a survival show episode

Jinyatta

Didn't like the show, probably because I was just coming off watching Chuang Asia 2024 which was a much more fun show. Jackson Wang as host, Ten as a mentor Members of Kpop group CSR, Jpop Group Faky, and TPop group Mindy, as well as 2 of my favorite trainees from PD48 and GP999 Wang Ke and Ikema Ruan.

Sofia

Road to Kingdom 2 will start in September, so maybe this is the show that PD might like to watch instead of I-LAND 2

Aine

Okay, so this is my two cents on why I prefer PD watching survival shows: It's exactly because, as PD has said in the past, they are NOT a K-pop stan. Not the way we are. They don't react to survival shows the way we react to them. Even when they get super emotionally invested (like with boys planet), their analytical brain never turns off. You can never fully predict how PD reacts to something on a show. That's why I think their unique perspective makes much more interesting commentary than just a concert reaction or comeback showcase reaction (as suggested in the comments here, no offense).

WiseSmellyLegs

Me and other people here have suggested it already, it would be great to watch that with PD!

Anniek

I think the show itself wasn’t always great, but still very much enjoyable. And the final lineup is worth the watch in my eyes! It’s a good way to get to know the members & also the trainees that didn’t make it. But you should only watch if you actually think you might like it :)

WiseSmellyLegs

I agree with that. Actually because of that I would prefer him to watch something else, because based on his thinking and knowledge I would bet he will figure out the line up pretty soon…

Aine

Another thought - if the final poll result is to NOT watch I-land 2, can we get a poll for a different survival show for you to react to? IMO, don't ask for suggestions, just pick the top 4 shows that you are interested in (hopefully including Nizi Project 🤞🤞)

Sven Lenders

Like, if we take all of this into consideration, it is definitely not worth 3 months worth of PD's time. Besides that, all of this actually has me worried for IZNA. I feel like they will get the treatment groups like Ciipher have gotten with Rain, whitch means if you don't generate enough publicity in the first 2 months, you will just be put in the basement. With the potential these girls have, that would honestly be a shame.

shudoon01

I think because it was so different from s1, and I was just bored really, s1 was super unique take on survival show (I know it was probably not the most ‘ethical’ show) but I love the dystopian vibe and it just hit a lot more for me! But I also did not give I-land 2 much of a chance, which is why I wouldn’t mind if PD watches cause I love his commentary

WiseSmellyLegs

I am trying to phrase my comments here as nicely as possible, because I don’t want to be mean towards people, who liked the show… But yeah… I think PD can get into the group later on with the content they will eventually have rather than putting his time into the show… Regarding the treatment of them… since Kep1er is about to end/has ended, I think WakeOne will put all their focus on izna, so don’t worry about them.

Sven Lenders

I mean, I kinda "liked" the show, but mainly because of the girls and their performances. We just need to take into consideration that this will for sure take 3 months to finish. That time could be spent on a show that "was put together better". It's not that i don't like MNET's way of shooting these shows (I mean, Boys Planet is my joint favourite survival show, kinda also because of the contestants though), but i feel like something went wrong while involving this many people and trying to shape it to everyone's liking. By the way, am I missing something? Kep1er just extended their contracts. It would be weird to have them quit now. That would also mean we will have 2 girl groups with the same amount of members doing similar concepts (oh no, this might be bad for both)

WiseSmellyLegs

My bad… two members ended their activities and the rest renewed as you are saying, sorry for the confusion.

Sven Lenders

No problem, but that might be an issue for both groups since they give off similar vibes to me.

Sami Casingal

Omg yes!! Way more interesting than this. I watched the first few eps only for the host since he was the main male lead in My Demon (ever since I found him in that drama, he’s been a favorite actor of mine) and Eunkwang’s reactions and advice to the contestants and their performances. I thought some of the contestants were good, but the main reason I dropped the show is because (no offense) I don’t stan girl groups and don’t plan to anytime in the future

Sven Lenders

I honestly think concerts and performances are a bit too overrated. Like, I understand you are willing to check out 1 stage to see the choreo and their live performance, but to go trough every live stage is a bit mad. PD is someone who enjoys watching content that really speaks to him. For example, Seventeen is his ult group and he really likes NCT Dream. Who are we to tell him he needs to watch a concert of "group A" who he hasn't shown that much interest in. He wants to give everyone a chance, but if it doesn't fit him, he won't spend much time on that group. When watching survival shows, he has more time to get to know trainees and build a connection with them *cough* Jongwoo *cough* Gunwook. But, I can also see that he really wants to analyze the performances and want to release his thoughts on certain people. The only thing that might be a problem for him is that he always had someone join him for those reactions (and I kinda liked having a co-host). PD needs to be able to talk to someone during those shows. I also feel like PD has a very different vibe when he is reacting to anime, K-drama's or survival shows. He might be more excited for them than for other reactions (maybe because of his filming background as well). I feel like he is watching those more intensely, unlike a video like for example "Eunchae's Diary" (no hate to Eunchae though). He really wants to follow along whereas the others are just "easy to watch". That might require him more energy though so I'm not sure what he will do in the future.

hibou

Altho I’d love to see a reaction to ILAND2, if you ultimately decide against I’d also really love seeing a reaction to either Nizi Project (which are prob my fav/most rewatched survival shows) . Season 2 produced Nexz which I’ve gotten rather invested in lately. The format might b of interest to PD and reminds me a bit of LOUD in that there’s basically no “drama” (which is the main point of criticism of ILAND2 and most survival shows).

j kim

I’d prefer if you watch Build Up instead. The show’s quite cool and there were superb performances. Some familiar faces are also in the show which is enjoyable to see.

Sven Lenders

Also PD, I just want to warn you about the AOTM video of Hanbin, I genuinely think you might pass out while watching that video 😂😂

Aine

I mean, other than Boys Planet, PD has always watched survival shows alone. But I'm gonna be totally honest - I was uneasy anyway with how PD acted around Blaire when they watched BP together. It constantly felt like she had to mostly agree with whatever they thought, or else the energy got really tense and weird. I'm not gonna elaborate more on that since the relationship is over and done with so it's whatever now, but it definitely made me uncomfortable. In contrast, the early episodes where Dezzy joined in were a lot more fun because their 'reactor energies' aligned better together. Too bad it seems like Dezzy quit reacting.

WiseSmellyLegs

I forgot about the renewal of the 7 Kep1er members, because I did not remember for how long the renewal was. So that made me forget that information in general… I am looking for more info and apparently it was not mentioned for how long. Since 143 Ent. did not agree for their two members to renew, it might be for a longer time than “a few months”, but it is hard to tell anything exact. Because of that we cannot really tell anything about WakeOne’s plans for both groups at this moment

kyujinz

As a general enjoyer of gg survival shows I would love for you to watch another one, and iland 2 was very good in my opinion! All of the girls were likeable and I found myself rooting for every last one of them which I don’t do much lol. Definitely some angel and devil editing in there which is to be expected with mnet but I found it less annoying than in some other shows. I think the final group will definitely be one to watch out for too so could be good to learn about them in advance and experience it with us <3

ac0rn

iland 2 is a fine watch, but if the votes end up against it i would recommend both seasons of the nizi project like a few other people have suggested. pd would enjoy the format and i think would be interested in jyp's thought process!

Aine

And as I said somewhere below, the episodes are not that long and it's a pretty fast watch!

Cherls

I suggest either peak time or build up

jenny

I doubt this will ever happen tbh but god how I wish PD gets the chance to watch at least some of the performances😭😭 some of them were too good

Aine

Imagine never having heard Underwater or Bad Blood 💔

C

Personally loved I-Land 2, yea there were parts that were frustrating, but I’d love to see your thoughts on it

Julia

So bummed out on this poll 🥲 if this poll doesn’t win, please at least watch the performances from this show. The line up for this group is 🔥🔥🔥🔥

fi

damn i wish watch it was winning :(((

Yaz

I haven’t been a patron for a while but my friend told me this poll was happening and I got support just to vote for you to watch i-land 2! It's really entertaining and the contestants are fantastic. I hope you consider watching it regardless of the poll results as I would gladly subscribe to a higher teir just to watch it.

Sven Lenders

I’m also not sure but I remember some article saying it would be 2,5 years again. But that contract might be terminated earlier if this will be a problem I guess.

Marii

wow i haven’t watched it yet bc i saw the post about it and was super excited to watch w a ‘friend’ 🥲 i wish it was winning in the poll, or i hope if pd is ACTUALLY interested in watching it he just watches it w us 😭🥲

Cristine

Democracy has failed me! 😭 lol yeah I also wish “watch it” was winning. There were so many great performances and moments in the show that outshines the “mnet evil edits” for me and I think PD is usually the type not to fall for those kind of edits (they weren’t even that bad imo). And for those saying the final members were predictable, that’s the case with a lot of mnet shows. But what I also personally enjoy is getting to know the contestants and seeing what those who didn’t debut on the show end up doing or the groups they eventually debut in. Edit: also 40% is as of now around 240 people that DO want to watch it. So I hope that’s taken into account. 😁🫶🏽

Sven Lenders

If you decide not to watch the show, then it would be a good idea to react to some performances on the show. So I will put a playlist of all performances in here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vyZ17ZcdNd8&list=PL0Sl4mH0T2vdMPtJV9gqhIwJ4VpoAmG67&index=1

Di

I've been meaning to rejoin the patreon for a while, but when I saw this poll, I immediately went to rejoin! I recently watched iland 2 and have fallen in love with the girls (not only the girls who won but also the girls who didn't make it). I am very excited for the group to debut. I wish the "watch it" poll option was winning.

Sven Lenders

PD, the last comment I will leave is that you should also decide for yourself if you really want to watch the show. We can give you our opinions and feedback, but you are the one that would need to sit for 1,5 hours to either watch a show you really like, or watch a show you don't like. Take everything into consideration and ask yourself again if you are really excited for this, then make a choice you feel comfortable with.

WiseSmellyLegs

By the way… is it just me or does this poll seem to be so intense? Not only the poll itself, but people in the comments.

bannsutie

Sad the polls not winning :(. Really wanted to see pd react to this

giiopiir

I would prefer you to watch lastart. I loved it! Best survival show ever!!

Men please watch it, I don’t even know why the majority is against it? Like this is only a win for all of us — everyone who wants to watch it can do so and everyone who is against is doesn’t have to watch it? And I’m pretty sure that PD will like I-Land 2 idk what’s with y’all who voted against it

WiseSmellyLegs

PD mentioned it before, so there are chance for that! And since the unit has already debuted and has made a comeback (and more to happen soon) it would be nice to watch it as soon as possible

WiseSmellyLegs

Well… it is not like: “PD can watch only that” everybody has a limited time for everything, so since people enjoy watching things with PD, they prefer to watch the thing they enjoy/want and obviously since they are paying now, it makes sense they don’t want to wait: “Maybe in the future we will watch that too”

Sven Lenders

Yeah, there's the perception of the show that makes it hard for people to get similar ideas of the show. The show itself, without any editing, judges or other interveniences is actually just I-LAND with some tweaks in the set-up. The interveniences are what makes this show so hard to watch for me honestly. I think the show could have been 4 hours shorter if they didn't spend 2 episodes on just recap. The judges are acting weird in the whole show (i watched SWF and back then Monika and Leejung were actually fun to watch, now I couldn't stand them), 24 and VVN I'm unfammiliar with but I can tell that they are people who should actually help the girls get better by motivating them (24 talking about their dancing seemed very off to me, it's the same as Lee Seokhoon talking about Yujin's slow learning curve of the dance of "here I am", just wouldn't make sense). Honestly, Taeyang was only there because he had to present BlackLabel. Screentime was also a big issue, I straight up forgot people like LingLing, Chaeeun or other grounders existed.

I don’t know why people are voting against it. The lineup is my favorite among all the survival shows I’ve watched. I guess people are still bitter over trainees not making it. But I really think it’s worth the watch.

Kelly

watch it! its really good! i wish the poll was winning

valeria castillo

Instead let’s watch road to kingdom 2

Haruka

After your Katseye reactions, may i recommend Dream Academy for a different survival show to review? American show style's really far from the korean ones.

WiseSmellyLegs

To be honest it would be interesting to discuss with PD the unusual Dream Academy concept for a survival show. But I am not sure how PD should make a reaction to that. Since the content is split among many channels a profiles, it would have to be like: “A few giant reactions to things released from this date to that date” Maybe watching the Netflix documentary first/instead would be better

Wiktor

I strongly recommend watching it. Ik a lot of people are still salty about the lineup. But haters will hate. I think PD will fall in love with this group at the end. It’s honestly as good as Enhyphen season and ZB1 level of great final lineup!

Wiktor

Classy survival show (I strongly reccomend watching that! SOOOO MANY! Gg that are debuting and are trending rn are from that survival show!” But if CLASSY (Excitement after school) survival show is a no. Then ILAND2 is defo the next best option… The ONLY survival show I reccomend skipping is RUNEXT. That one was rigged to filth, acc gives me anger issues thinking about the time waste, that show was.

RoNNieTP

I see people who suggested PD to watch other survival shows instead of I-land 2 and here is my honest opinion right now (after very much thought). I feel like Survival show is very time-consuming. Sure, if you have a free-time to watch on your own, you can grab some interesting ones and watch them. But for PD, who mainly reacts to Kpop groups, I don’t think a survival show is the right target for him currently. I think he should use this time to explore and learn some new stuffs or new groups like what we currently see with TripleS. And with issues he had in this past year, I don’t want him to be overworked and do something more than he can take again. He has done pretty great jobs with these new schedules so far after a long break. I just don’t want him to overload himself with packed schedules again just to watch a survival show that is already finished. So in my opinion, I’m gonna respectfully say “No”, not just for I-land 2 but for every survival shows.

Haruka

There are some youtube playlists that sorted by date. But yeah it’s a bit confusing to follow. Watching Documentary without knowing the show would be.. weird imo.

FroggyMuds

Damn I wish the poll was winning, I was rlly hoping to see u watch it 😭😭

WiseSmellyLegs

I am planning to do so and if the documentary gets my interest, I might go back and watch everything before their debut

WiseSmellyLegs

To be fair I have nothing against the line up, but it still does not change my point of view to the show itself

WiseSmellyLegs

PD said before that survival shows would be over because of what you said. I highly respected that, but since he decided to reconsider that, I thought suggesting something else would be okay. But obviously I would understand if no survival show reaction would happen

Taj carter

Please watch it PD, it's a good watch. a lot of people still aren't over the finale.

StoneWall

I think you would really enjoy it!

Renee Alvarado

Sad the poll isn’t winning because I actually really love the lineup despite being sad about one particular person not making. I love all the winners tho! Definitely enjoyed it better than RUNEXT. (As in show production and experience over all. I have nothing against the ILLIT girls! They deserve their spots) But overall iland2 was more enjoyable. Even though there is some changes from the first season I didn’t like. They did switch it up which I enjoyed!

cndl

PLEASE WATCH IT

bannsutie

I really hope he watches it even if the poll doesn't win

Kelly

please watch it

Jashwini

I think the main problem that people have with the show was that there was a lot of criticism placed on a few contestants which wasnt deserved and talented contestants didnt debut like however overall this was one of my favourite survival shows because I could focus more on each contestants since there are only 24 of them and it really pushed them to showcase all their skills and the lineup itself is actually an amazing lineup and if their music direction are like their missions, I believe that PD will love them

WiseSmellyLegs

Rather than a lot of criticism it was more like random criticism every time just for the purpose of having a drama there, but that kind of the usual Mnet attitude, so it was not a problem for me. The problem I had was it being SO PREDICTABLE to the level of not being surprised by anything since a good half of the whole show. + a few eliminations were done in really harsh way towards the contestants of giving them hope again and again.

Jashwini

I actually found some results surprising from the mission and how some contestants, especially the one with the unique voice☺️turned it around and the rankings rlly shifted, I understand your point but I think its important for PD to watch this so that he truly understands the contestants struggles and the true talent because they might have showcased more talent on the show because they might have a specific concept and not one that is versatile

Neeko

I think it's a pretty big assumption that although a lot of people didn't like the survival aspect of the survival show, I think it's safe to say that we can all agree that you should at least watch the performances since that was the shining part of the show!
