Looking good PD! I was wondering if you would like to do a Boys Planet dedicated “first look” type of video. Because there are a lot of people that have debued recently and knowing how much you enjoyed Boys Planet, I think you would love to see them getting the spotlight they deserve. Those people are: Ampers&One LE’V ONLEE IChan TIOT NXD TOZ Those are the main guys, there are some other solo debuts (CongB, Jianyu) and some that are preparing (LOONG9, Newkies, NewBeat, WaterFire, B.D.U) but they haven’t either debued or aren’t really K-POP. I would like to hear your opinion on this. Because I think other people would like to see this as well.

And by the way, ALL 24 members have been revealed now and they're finally debuting as ot24 with a full album on the 8th! I know you're not watching any varieties right now but I would strongly recommend watching STRONG GIRL: BADGE WAR, as a way to get to know at least the first 16 girls - because they announced that they're doing a second season with all 24 girls soon! Woodz starts at 1:27:33 (you forgot to mention that in the post)… To Illit you mentioned “can you really rip off your subsidiary?”… well the thing is Hybe Labels was created with the vision of being an umbrella for all those labels Big Hit Ent. bought back then, so they are not under Big Hit Music now, but they are “equal” to each other. So both ADOR and Belift Lab are subsidiary of Hybe Labels and the vision of this was meant to be that each label will have their own style and color. Which… I don’t know… I am not saying all of Hybe Labels labels’ groups are the same, but I think Bang Si Hyuk even before creating HYBE Corpo. thought about the growth of BTS and Big Hit and that made him think they can go really big and really global, which led to TXT and the idea of how they were created/with what vision and goal they were formed, which served as a blueprint for all upcoming groups, which debuted after the creation of HYBE Corpo. Basically it is not like having an umbrella of labels formed of SM, YG, JYP and then for example Starship, where in all of these labels you can immediately see the difference between them and their attitude and work. And with Illit’s debut it is really strongly similar and borderline the same as if this was supposed to be NewJeans’ comeback. By the way… obviously there must have been more thing between Min Hee Jin and HYBE/Bang Si Hyuk, which we just didn’t get to see/know about… it’s not like this whole shit show would started purely because of Illit’s debut… About them being inspired by NewJeans/NewJeans basically being an inspiration for the 5th generation of Kpop…. Sure, that is correct, but the thing is smaller/different label might not affect NewJeans’ career in the way how Illit and Belift Lab may… (Also just a side note… those statements of Min Hee Jin accusing Riize and TWS were rumors and they are yet to be proved correct or wrong… same as in case of her accusing BTS, where it was found not being true and actually there are rumors that it was spread probably by HYBE to give her haters something else against her… obviously that also isn’t proved if HYBE did that, but it was mentioned along with another statements, which were proved to by done by HYBE as for example saying out loud that she visits shaman to make her seem like some freak, which… is mean from my point of view, be in touch with shaman is not illegal and as long as she does that in her free time, it’s not anyone’s business). The problem here is Hybe Labels/HYBE in general is still above both her (Min Hee Jin) and ADOR, so they can affect what will be done with NewJeans and they may want to focus on Illit/let them shine more, because they have bigger control over them, since Bang Si Hyuk is way more involved in Belift Lab rather than in ADOR. Therefore if there has been a beef between Min Hee Jin and Bang Si Hyuk, Illit’s debut and their upcoming career could have been planned like: “In case we would lose NewJeans because of cutting off Min Hee Jin, we will have Illit” Which to be honest… now looking at it back, I am kind of suspicious why was the sixth member cut from the debut, because it wasn’t really clear why they did that… By that I don’t want to say Illit is the same as NewJeans because of “same hairstyle, being 5 members, having the easy listening vibe”, but it just adds to the main thing I see problematic here, which is… Same as NewJeans they don’t have songs as another Kpop groups, where you would hear members with different voices and you would think: “Wow! That’s the main vocalist! And this is the member with that voice!” Their voices harmonize together perfectly as NewJeans (as you once mentioned in a podcast that it feels like as if NewJeans was created of more groups, where each member would have the same role in their own group). And then the visual aspect of their videos and promotional materials and their concept as well. Good point about the aspect of NewJeans not feeling like an idol group, whereas Illit does. But that’s a bit questionable whether Belift Lab/Bang Si Hyuk doesn’t want them to seem that way or if they wanted to, but it didn’t work the same way as in the case of NewJeans

Hey pd! You should watch tripleS's first reality show Badge Wars with 4 episodes on YouTube with 16 members to start to recognize the 16 members better in time for their ot24 debut May 8, it's one of the best shows I've ever seen! Also, you should watch the ot16 performances of Rising and new look they released or they also went for the first time to an award show and performed Rising and a call me baby cover which was really cool. And I like the change with the haircut!

The tripleS NXT Reaction got cut short in this video, only so the ending discussion ): Also a little info for Aria - The subunit was always going to have Dahyun as a permanent member/the leader but they had a live where the girls picked random names out of a box to form different groups and the fans got to vote on which group would join Dahyun! Also the fans got to vote on the name and I think Aria was a perfect choice. Kaede definitely surprised people because everyone in the fanbase already knew she was a good dancer and could sing well but she really got to shine here. I think you would get a kick out of tripleS' first variety show - Badge War! There's only 4 eps and its with the first 16 members (LOVElution and EVOLution) but you get to see a lot of their personality and it's way more digestible than keeping up with their daily vlog-like content which is probably where all the fans fell in love with the members. Currently ALL 24 members have been revealed and they're starting the content promotion for their first FULL album ASSEMBLE24!

Damn, PD! Nice haircut! Somehow you look more... you. I'm here for it. I'm glad you enjoyed WOOAH's new single. I knew you would. One thing that I absolutely love about them is that their music isn't bombastic, it's more cutesy like early Twice and Cherry Bullet with just a touch of badassness. I think they fill a niche that isn't really represented in the 5th gen. I feel like a lot of girl groups these days are going the Everglow/BP route of girlcrush/go hard dance pop. This music just makes me smile and I love it. The "japanese" member you were referring to is Sora, the bridge queen, who is Korean on her mother's side and Japanese on her father's side. It sounds like she's become a lot more comfortable speaking Korean now that she has to all the time. And yes, according to the lyrics they are saying "I feel like 많이". I'm sad that this is just a single as their company had previously stated that WOOAH was going to release an album in the first half of this year. I'm not holding out hope on that timeline but hopefully we still get more music from them this year. Edit: I also wanted to add, PD, fingerless gloves are dope AF, I don't care what anyone says.

As a side note, I wanted to add that apparently my k-pop "type" is underdog girl groups from small companies. This is why I was such a huge fan of BVNDIT and Dreamcatcher and why I cheer for STAYC whenever I can.

But those contracts are signed only for group activity. So it will be mainly solo activities based on their own will. Group activities are really hard to say… it is hard to match schedules of 4 people being under 4 different labels and none of the labels is the one under which the group’s content should be released

to add onto the nwjns illit thing, i can see the similarities in the magnetic music video, however you should watch their Lucky Girl Syndrome mv as well because i truly don't think they're as close to nwjns as people are making them out to be in the grand scheme of things. aesthetic wise they did have concept photos that had similar coloring to ditto, and they all had black long hair, though it seems weird to hold that against korean girls lol... 90% of korean women have long black hair! sound wise i will say nwjns did not event jungle/dnb music/garage music. sure they've weaved it into their signature sound, but to claim any other group who does it now is copying nwjns is a bit of a reach to me and quite frankly tiring to see. I guess my whole view is that nobody in kpop, including mhj, invented any aesthetics that are used today in kpop (or even all the way in 1st gen), but i think some people end up getting some type of kpop tunnel vision with these things. Kpop has always ridden off other sounds/fashion, especially western trends and cultures, and mhj claiming ownership over this aesthetic is kind of ironic to me considering she is no stranger to using outside inspirations in her work. She sure is a talented woman but her attitude and, honestly, arrogance makes it hard to root for her. I wish neither groups were involved in this mess and i hope they can both continue being successful without this drama ruining their image.

PD, not sure if you saw but Kepler is confirmed to disband July 3rd! ‘Straight Line’ will be their last Japanese comeback which is out May 8th and it’s been reported they will have their final Korean comeback in May as well though, there hasn’t been anything released by the WakeOne.
