Here is a new PSD for the "Looming entrance" picture ^^

I wanted to feature this picture in particular as I made something a bit special with this one :3

Usually there is a simple rule in drawing : when you do a complex lineart that gives a lot of details, a lot of informations on volumes and lighting, then you want a simple coloring in order to put the spotlight on the lineart and to not overwhelm the viewer with too much infos.

The opposite is also true : If you have a simple lineart, then you usually want a rich coloring and shading that is going to convey informations about lighting, volumes, textures etc otherwise you might end up with a picture that looks too simplistic.

here I went a different route, going for a relatively complex and rich lineart and a painterly coloring. And somehow I think it worked :)  the details of the lineart become almost like a texture on themselves ( notice the absence of any texture layer for the coloring since that role was taken by the lineart  )

It's interesting because I don't think it would work for many pictures, but a mawshot is just the type of picture for which it does i think. Since texturing is so important when you draw the inside of a mouth and the fleshy tunnel of the gullet :3

All in all I think this is an interesting discovery that I'm probably going to be using for future mawshots as well ^^
