The Devil (Patreon)

Hey look at that! A post that's out at a reasonable time. I'm not caught up, but I'm closer!

I also got the crack in my phone screen today fixed, so it's been productive!

I digress, let's talk about Justice, Issac, and Makena!

Interestingly enough, Justice Schiappa found out about my project less than a month before they were painted. When I triangulated where everyone was at, I decided to drive up the West Coast and paint multiple people along the way.

Justice recruited their friends Makena and Issac, and art was made in an Air BNB that I rented in LA. I used a portable backdrop, but some shots were done casually in the space. 

A silly (and wonderful) time was had, and we all synced up really well.  Best was my assistant during this session, and for most of the Tarot series, of course.

I want to say we had a little impromptu dance party afterward? Was definitely my favorite session we worked on that day. Afterward we drove to Bakersfield to work on our next client!

What does the Devil stand for?

It may mean materialism, the drive to make things happen, attachment, addiction, sexuality, or the Shadow self. It's not always a bad thing to draw the card, but it's definitely one that sends some strong signals. 

Look at the Devil cackling! Justice was hilarious. :D

For the original card, I debuted it with a green flame aesthetic. I felt like this nicely contrasted with the red devil tones. However for the final card, I wanted to shift it more toward the reds.

I really love this photo, but it isn't super "Devil" for me. More like fabulous demonic Alien! Which isn't a bad thing. ;p

On the final card edit, we see that two glowing eyes are replaced with one flaming one. The image is mirrored, and the CGI is relaxed just a bit. I feel like we can see more of Justice's personality this way! 

It was also a slightly different photo, but they seem more devilish here, don't you think?

The Tower is out tomorrow!
