You are in your last year of your PhD program, but your thesis has been stalling. Something about the busy streets, constant texts from friends, and the reminder of your ex-girlfriend everywhere make it so difficult for you to stay focused. That's when your advisor (with a mischievous grin you wouldn't appreciate until much later) says you should consider renting out a cabin in an old resort she used to go to when she really needed to focus. She's close friends with the woman who runs the resort, and heck it's the off season so there won't be many other guests--if any! And you're bound to get a discount if you help around the lodge. I'm sure there's something useful you can do with your hands when you're not focused on your dissertation.

Before you know what's happening, the rickety bus has dropped you off at the foot of the mountains and the largest woman you've ever seen in your life eagerly waves a greeting. She is overly friendly, bordering on maternalistic, she carries your luggage with ease, makes you warm soup, even gives you a big bear hug greeting. You chalk it up to the fact that you're the only guest in the lodge and she has that rural friendliness you've heard so much about.

Everything is quiet as you settle in, until evening approaches and you hear a knock on your door. "I've made dinner, but I have a small request if you don't mind. I love scary movies, but I'm always too afraid to watch them on my own. Do you think you'd watch one with me? I promise I won't be too big of a wuss!" You smile pleasantly and reassure her, that is until you see the size of her couch...
