Wasn't sure how this would translate into a musical, but they outdid themselves!  How do you like this compared to Steven Spielberg's version??

This movie is so fantastic and powerful. Danielle Brooks stole this for me. Also, Greg you may know her from Peacemaker!

While the original is iconic, I can't really compare it to this one. Though there are some similarities that I can appreciate. This version is the movie adaptation of the Broadway musical and more so tells the story how Alice Walker (author of the book) wanted it told. She did not like the Stephen Spielberg version, but I'm glad they included her as a producer for this one. Also, Fantasia played Celie in one run on Broadway, and Danielle Brooks played Sofia in another run. I'm not sure who all else was in the musical that was in this movie, but I'm pretty sure they had others.
