I feel like clara doesnt feel as significant this episode because the point is her influence is exerted through control of the doctor. The doctor thought missy had to die because if the doctor didnt kill her than clara would. Same with her getting him to come and deactivate Danny despite how The Doctor wants things to go. And it comes along with the reveal of Missy bringing them together in the first place, because she wanted to pair a "control freak" with the doctor "who should never be controlled" saying "you'd go to hell if she asked, and she would." - I think that's also why they open it while Clara posing as the doctor and putting her as top name in the credits. I think it all ties into their toxicity and how Clara and the doctor try to control eachother and cause chaos as a result.

I dunno. Series 8 gets a lot of hate for reasons I can't really understand. It has always been one of my favourite series and I don't think there is a single episode here I don't like. I absolutely LOVE Clara's and 12th's chemistry and they are probably my favourite TARDIS team ever. I seriously haven't ever understood why Clara gets so much hate. She's my favourite companion and luckily every Doctor Who fan I know likes her as well. You're correct, Missy indeed is amazing and Michelle Gomez is a brilliant actor. Also, this 2 episode finale continues to be one of my favourites of the run and yet again I have no idea where the dislike comes from. Good to see you guys enjoyed! And honestly I'm a bit sad that I've almost catched up cus the concept of having to wait a week between every episode is daunting.
