I thought that the scenes in isolation were funny, yeah campy, cheese, but funny, the problem that made it bad is like you said, the tone mixt. There are episodes that are very good, but with even worst scenes than this ep, we are not done with the lows of SPN yet.

Like i mentioned before. The motw are hit and miss for me. This one was a miss. The only scenes i loved were the zeke save. Honestly guys i can tell you the lows of supernatural are terrible and will make you question the writers but the highs this season will make up for some of it. I will say with these type of episodes dig deeper and try to figure out way it is here. Dogs usually go hand and hand with loyalty thematically. And dean is the most loyal person on the show. He rarely gives up on people and this season that loyalty is causing issues. That man this episode was using very mess up means to keep himself alive so if he is messed up then what does this say about dean doing this to Sam. What makes dean any better?

Yeah, this was not a good episode. I'd kind of blocked this one out. Missed the mark completely.

I would probably never put this episode in any type of quality lists. But I do enjoy it a lot. It does remind me of the likes of Yellow Fever, and I like when Supernatural can weave comedy with it's narrative threads. I could have done without the weird poodle joke, and the tones do clash a bit, but I still find it fun. I can see how this would be enjoyable for Jensen to flex different acting skills.

Fun fact: this episode was originally titled Doggy Style. Which I must say, I find very uncomfortable given the whole poodle scene. I'd always remembered this episode as being funny but pretty recently I rewatched it on a whim and realized I just like the scenes where Dean's trying to play fetch with Sam's trash and when he pulls his gun on the pigeon. Literally everything else is a mess and I'd pretty much blocked it out. It's certainly not my biggest gripe with the episode, but the ending is so weird. Like were the dogs just waiting nearby? When had they made that plan? Why the hell was /that/ the chosen method for taking the guy out? And this is totally a nitpicky kind of thing that doesn't actually matter, but I couldn't stop thinking about the fact that unless the protocol and laws are different in the SPN universe, there is a very high probability all of those dogs would be put down. Almost certainly at least the strays. A dog can be at risk just for biting someone, much less straight up mauling someone to death. Also, another real world technicality that maybe doesn't apply in SPN and literally doesn't matter at all to the plot but I can't help pointing it out due to who I am as a person (also I'm okay with picking on a bad episode), but while technically dogs can live without meat, you really shouldn't make your dog vegetarian. It is very difficult to get them the protein and balanced diet they need without meat.

"Its just so poorly done" pretty much sums it up for this episode.

Supernatural definitely needs to leave dogs alone. When Greg said, “I don’t like this,” I muttered, “Nobody likes it.” 🤣 The idea may have been ok, but I just don’t think animal shelters are comedic settings.

Zelda Who Actually

As soon as John pointed out that the wallpaper looks like Christmas paper I laughed so hard because I was wondering right before that the very same thing! I’m almost convinced they glued some Christmas wrap to that set 😂 For the episode itself, we are all in agreeance that this was crap tv at its finest. I must admit though that I absolutely love the bits where Dean is acting like a dog and I almost wished that were the entirety of the episode. I laugh hysterically every time I’ve rewatched the part where Dean is yelling and pointing at the mailman and then I skip to next episode past that point 😂 Jensen just has a way of fully immersing himself into these types of roles and I’ve always loved when they throw him in those wacky role reversals. I am pretty sure they have killed off/ fatally wounded one character per episode this season so far that Zeke has had to save
