This episode and 6x2 (which is an absolute treat of an episode) are my favorites of the show. The intensity was great here and it just draws you in so nicely. I love it.

For some reason had it in my mind that this episode was a season finale, so seeing that it's just number 9 I was like "????" but regardless, it's such a good ep. The back-and-forth between the flashback and the present, and between the two investigating pairs, it felt very cinematic, and super tense. I feel like an absolute goober because even after seeing it a bunch of times before, I didnt notice the wordplay in the title of it until you pointed it out. The fact that Lassie refers to him as Shawn instead of just Spencer (at least in the beginning?) I think really lends itself to the gravity of the situation. Plus the whole "Nice shooting, detective" thing gets me, every single time, 'cause it's like aw, Lassie respects and values him even if he is also annoyed by him 24/7

Somehow I missed this last week so happy Monday to me! This is hands down one of my all time favorite Psych episodes. The episode structure, the tension - it all works so well. Like you mentioned, I really like the team ups in this episode. It's always fun when a show throws together characters who typically don't have a lot of one-on-one time. I like that Lassie calls Shawn "detective" in this one when just a few episodes ago (I think? time flies) he was telling Shawn he'd never be a cop.
