I love this episode because it's the first introduction into a case with the men of letters bunker, and all the knowledge that comes with it. I also really like seeing Sam get to show how smart he actually is, kind of to remember that he got a full ride through college because of how smart he is. I'm actually really surprised by your reaction. You guys were pretty intensely watching and it looked like you were right into it!

I think this is a little gem of an episode (although I know not everyone thinks so) and I’m surprised you didn’t like it more. But best of all, we’ve got the Bunker! I really loved this. It’s one thing for two men in their 20s to be perpetually homeless, but they are in their 30s now. And especially after the miserable season 7 when they couldn’t even stay in motels but were reduced to abandoned houses, it’s about time they had some good luck. And Adam Rose is an absolute joy in this episode. And Greg, don’t get paranoid! It’s not that we agree with John more, it’s just that we like him better so if we don’t feel particularly strongly, we’ll side with him! 😂😂😂

Yeah, I'm not really sure what it is with this episode, but I do kind of feel like it was missing a sort of spark. Edlund is one of my favorite writers for the show, and I love all of his character/world building details. However, something about this episode just didn't all come together for me. I love Dean at the bar and the intro of the bunker, but I do agree there was a bit too much exposition.

While I do agree with Greg that the overall feel of this ep is meh, some of my favorite moments still happen in it. Dean playing with the sword in the bunker always makes me giggle. And his entire first interaction with Aaron Bass when he thinks its 'a gay thing', turns him into an awkward bby does nothing but bring me joy. This is also the reason I do enjoy fanfics, it takes those small moments or overarcing ideas and flushes them out into something greater.

I can see how Greg and others might feel like this episode falls flat. Especially if I look closely at the issues with it, there are definitely things that are objectively not that interesting. But personally it never really bores me even on a re-watch. Maybe the performances and the concepts carried it through for me. However, Greg made a great point about missed opportunities when he pointed out what the other things they could have done/shown with the ideas. When I first watched this episode, I didn't really notice or think about missed opportunities- but I can definitely see on a re-watch and the points y'all made how they could have made a much cooler episode.

Great Reaction, this to me is a decent episode

I have mixed feelings about this episode. There's some character stuff I do enjoy (much like Greg said in his review), but in the end it does fall flat for me (maybe not quite as flat for me as for Greg). It's disappointing for an Edlund episode. It had promise. That's pretty much all I can say.
