Just so you know, a lot was cut from this episode when compared to the manga (head’s up to anyone who wants to read the manga for themselves). Normally this arc opens with Detnerat (Re-Destro’s company) announcing that they’ll be expanding into making support gear for heroes (which, to be fair, you did see a while back). This is immediately followed by an ad for the company, which makes support gear for everyday use, specifically for citizens whose Quirks hinder them in day-to-day life (it also features three panels that serve as a direct visual homage to The Killing Joke, with Re-Destro striking the same series of poses as the Joker). We then cut to Re-Destro’s office, where his assistant is giving him shit, but in a playful way. He’s not bothered by the ribbing, until the poor guy makes the mistake of bad mouthing the Meta Liberation movement. It’s at this point that Re-Destro activates his Quirk, and breaks the assistant’s neck, crying over the act he just committed. After a couple scenes you did see, we are reintroduced to the League of Villains. They’ve walked into a house out in the country that members of the CRC (Creature Rejection Clan) are operating out of. The CRC are a KKK-esque group that harbor a deep hatred for people with Mutant-Type Quirks, including Spinner, whose Gecko Quirk makes him their immediate focus. The CRC members are slaughtered in a very bloody sequence, and we see the LoV settle into the house as they plan to use it as their new HQ (since their old one was compromised and they have little to no cash left) and they start to talk. Spinner, feeling disrespected by his peers, explains that he grew up in a backwater town where many people had views similar to the CRC’s. Feeling scared and alone, he clung to Stain’s ideology, and he joined the League. Some people are very upset these sequences were cut. They are important for world-building (including delving into themes that persist through out the series), help to establish Spinner as an actual character, and set Re-Destro up properly instead of just tossing him in and expecting him to be threatening. Combine this with the anime rearranging this season’s arcs to that this one came after the Endeavor Agency, (leading to the audience seeing the aftermath before the arc itself), and the disappointed lot feel that they’ve done this particular arc a disservice. They also toned down the gore significantly, but that was to be expected (this arc got BLOODY).
