I, for one watch the discussion 😅 Sozin did genuinely go there to help Roku, but as he saw him weakening from the gas, he saw an opportunity to make all of his visions for the future come true. It was more of a heat-of-the-moment I feel like.

More accurately it's "letting go of earthly attachments", meaning that he had to be able to shut off any feelings if they ever got in the way of his duty as Avatar. Roku being lenient with Sozin and Aang being easily manipulated by his feelings for Katara are examples of this.

Favorite zuko episode. Favorite avatar ruko episode great avatar lore in this episode and the writing in this episode is on point.

I love the shot where they reveal that Roku is Zuko’s gg-pa. How they show the scarred side of his face when Iroh states that Sozin is his paternal gg-pa and then the bar crosses over his face to show the unscarred half while Iroh states that Roku is his maternal gg-pa. Nice visual rep of the two sides.
