I think instead of just wiping their memories, Cas rewrote history and Sam and Dean are the only ones who retain the memories. Like what happened in the Fate episode. The demons don't know that Lisa and Ben mean anything because in this new reality, that never happened. Same with the car accident. If Cas simply wiped their memories, the doctors and everyone would still be wondering what happened to the gaping knife wound. Either way, it's definitely not addressed fully enough, but whatevs.

I'm so curious how your mind worked during that intro. 😂😂😂 ...I'll still stay pledged, don't worry.

So glad you loved this episode. This one and the last one are so tragic and painful. Those scenes between Cas and Dean in the hospital are absolutely heartbreaking. I was chuckling at the beginning when you thought it was going to be an HP Lovecraft episode. I mean technically yes, but only tangentially. They absorbed it into the SPN-verse really cleverly. Dean's decision to wipe Lisa and Ben's memories is controversial. Does he have the right to decide what's best for them like that? Sam doesn't think he does, but Dean thinks it's a decision he can take and Cas I think at this point will do anything Dean wants that doesn't interfere with his plans. And I love Seb Roche. He and Misha get on really well IRL. His appearances at SPN Cons tend to be rather X rated!

I think it was a good conclusion to Lis and Bens story. Jensens performance makes it very heartbreaking. It’s basically Deans giving up his last semblance of a normal life in order to protect them.

Awwww I was sad to see Lisa and Ben go, for Dean’s sake. Jensen does sad so well. His performance always gets to me. Oh and I just loved Sebastian’s acting. He always makes me laugh lol

Mary Coelho

loved the intro guys. truly.

I can suspend my disbelief for a lot of things in this show, but I refuse to believe that Dean is a C minus lay, LOL

I had the same reaction when Cas says “I always come when you call.” Watching Dean lose both Cas and Lisa in this episode breaks my heart every time I watch it.

Really like this episode, but yeah, the memory wipe at the end does still really confuse me. I get that we needed the goodbye with Dean's emotions, but it confuses me that Dean only asks Cas to wipe theirs and not his own. With his memory in tact, his emotions towards them don't change, and demons or whatnot could still use them against him. So it all feels kind of flawed for that reason. Cas and Dean make my heart hurt so much. Jensen and Misha are incredible at their jobs together.

Agree. The first ep she was in, her friends were saying he was the best she ever had... 'best night of my life, Dean'
