i know this vid is 3 yrs old lol but I didn’t see any comments answering your query about the decision to bring donna back here (haven’t finished the reaction yet to be fair) and I love sharing Who trivia/BTS stuff lol. So they had wanted to bring Donna/Catherine back since The Runaway Bride but Catherine was busy with her solo skit show, the Catherine Tate show, so they pitched the return to her thinking there was 0% chance she’d say yes. They had a backup companion and an actress in mind and everything (I think I read somewhere it was Penny, the journalist character in this episode). But Catherine was delighted and said yes so they just wrote her back in lol. There was a lot of controversy when she was initially announced cuz ppl only saw her as a comedian and didn’t think she’d be a good actress. Now she’s a certified fan favorite ❤️

I’m just echoing these other comments, but yes! Glad you loved this one! Donna is one of my two favorite companions (along with one you have yet to meet 😉) Catherine Tate is just a joy as well. She and David Tennent became and remain great friends. It’s hilarious because Catherine literally knew nothing about Doctor Who before being on the show and Tennant is the ultimate fanboy since he was very young. His disbelief and shock at her ignorance is iconic and hilarious. 😂

This is a fantastic season opener and I am glad you guys loved/hated it (depending on the comments). The scene when Donna and the Doctor see each other through the glass always gets me, pure comedy gold.
