Riu’s backstory, him reaching for Tanjiro/Nezuko, always makes me cry. Not in a sympathetic way necessarily but moreso in a pitying way because his family’s story is so tragic. However I do feel sympathy for the way he was turned because he was just a child preyed upon by a very old monster. The themes of forgiveness, humanity, and family bonds in this series are so good.
