Synthetic skin idea was pretty much the venom symbiote, eg it would be kinda invulnerable and it would help protect the person wearing it. So that was the venom fact.

Probably hands down my least favourite episode. There are some things to like but not many. I think the series shifts up a gear from here onwards.

This is why I'm not a big fan of Season 3. Too many low points. Some really good highs, but the proportion is only about 50/50

I'm pretty sure this is the lowest rated episode of the season on IMDB but it's actually one of my favorites because I really just love Martha and the Doctor's rapport in this one. Also Gatiss is great as a creepy dude who wants to live forever. I agree the episode would probably be a lot better if they'd kept him like that but giant skeleton scorpion monster is bananas and I support them for committing to the idea.
