SPN Q&A Review

RNR

$15 game: Bobby, Anna, Ellen, Jo, Mary. At least they're all hunters, plus Anna has angel powers, Bobby has occult items and lore books and the practical know-how, and the other three are just badass hunters. If I had one more dollar, I'd buy in Andy because his psychic powers (mind control, controlling demons, long-distance psychic communication, telekenesis) would come in handy, but the dude himself hasn't proven to be hunter material so Ellen still wins out. Same with Chuck- his prophet powers (assuming they still work during the apocalypse) would be useful, but Chuck himself can't do anything in a fight. I think even in "The End" episode, Chuck is the guy walking around with a clipboard talking about supplies while everyone else is out on a mission. Bella wouldn't help fight the apocalypse either, she'd just screw us over any chance she got, so since I have one last dollar floating around, I guess I'd throw it at Henrickson. Fun game, kudos!

The janitor Azazel was actually the "final form" of the Azazel that we got to see in the show

Phew! Wow - a lot of questions for you to get through! I found it really interesting when you were trying to hunt in your memories for the various monsters, what you were really finding were Sam & Dean character beats, and then remembering the monster that was around. If that's what the programme is doing, then I think that means it's been really successful. Characters first. With the language vs. gore question, what I was really getting at was the hypocrisy/double standard I see in TV/film etc. We are allowed to see 'Dean' ripping his skin off, we can see characters getting impaled, shot, kidneys carved out, etc. etc. Yet the guys can never say "fuck". And insults are limited to one or two words (mainly "bitch"). I think the writers deliberately used the episode with the Ghostfacers to say "look, guys - this is what Sam and Dean would really sound like if their language wasn't artificially sanitised, and now we need to bleep it out".  p.s. your Sam/Jared impression at the beginning cracked me up!

Toasted Toad

Only chronologically (i.e. Azazel's timeline). After that, we did get Azazel played by the doctor trying to strike a deal with Mary's friend, then Mitch Pileggi (Sam Winchester Sr), and then the priest in the Season 4 finale.

Jani Salminen

yeah but what i meant was that the "main" Azazel is portrayed by Fredric Lehne.

Heeheeeee - thanks for answering my question, you guys! I didn't really trust myself not to ask something with a spoiler folded into it somehow (unintentionally, that is - sorry, I've been watching the show from the very beginning, so it can be challenging to think of a question that isn't loaded in some way).

Punktlig

Thank you guys! Haha I guess it was a pretty theoretical question looking at it now. Should of asked how have you liked him, or favorites moments so far? Or maybe how you have liked Crowley compared to some other reoccurring demons! Thanks anyways love the Q&A! Makes your reactions as a whole feel more personal, can’t wait for more!!

I feel like it's very fair to say that some shows you wouldn't watch by yourselves (even ignoring that it's for reaction videos). I watched season 1 of Game of Thrones, stopped watching cause it just wasn't my kind of show and then picked it up again because a friend of mine wanted to watch it with me. I can't say I loved the show in and of itself but the shared experience added so much to it that I wouldn't want to miss it now. I feel there's a huge difference between watching something for yourself when all you can measure the show by is how much it entertains you personally versus how much it as a medium contributes to having a good, memorable experience overall, which may only be slightly related to your personal judgement of the quality of its content.

I'm going to have to watch this later, but looking forward to it. You two always have very interesting and insightful thoughts. Part 1?! wow! As for the photo/question - easy - the first 3 rows. Obviously. lol - I know that's not what you meant. Just choose by the individual. Dean, Bobby, Crowley Dean for fighting and tenacity Bobby for smarts and common sense Crowley for abilities and other offerings, and he doesn't want the Apocalypse either, so he's invested

Loved watching this. Thank you for taking time to do this. Your comments around the 51 minute point summarizes the thing that many fans have said makes this show so important in their lives. The fact that no matter what, the boys never really give up. They aren't perfect. They have flaws. Admittedly. They fail at things, but they don't give up. The complexity of the show and the fact that it "goes there", has made this show really iconic. This was cool watching you work at dredging up past episodes. It is hard if you've only seen the seasons 1 time, and relatively quickly. There's a lot to process with this show, so I can appreciate how hard it might be to get the season and episode right, while remembering something from it. I think you can appreciate why many fans feel the desire to re-watch the show. I totally agree about Jared. Sam is a difficult character to play, and I think Jared has done it really well and grown into the role over the years. Both Jared and Jensen are maybe the only actors who could have made their characters work out as well as they have. I truly don't think this show would work without this duo. Thanks for answering my question. No problem about the repeat answer stuff. Totally understand. Glad you feel the show is worth watching and that the reactions at least got you to the point where you do like it enough to continue on your own if you weren't reacting to it. There definitley are people who have quit too soon, and some come back to it after hearing about how good it's become. It seems like you guys are giving us SPN Patrons a lot of content - not just the show reactions, but doing season reviews/Q and A's like this, convention reactions, reacting to Jensen's performances. And interacting with us in comments and Discord. I really appreciate that and how much time commitment it must take. So, Thank You!!

thank you for answering the question, and after thinking back at my thoughts at this point in the series, I slightly liked Sam more because of the ups and downs and back up of his character, and my favorite villains at that point were Lucifer, Alastair, & Ruby(because of the genius of her villainous ways), My favorite episodes in these seasons are 3x11 Mystery Spot, 5x8 Changing Channels, 2x21-22 All Hell Breaks Loose 1-2, 5x22 Lazarus Rising & 4x16 No Rest for the Wicked, Jo is a character i wish didn't die

Jason Usher

also as far as my favorite Ruby, i easily go with Katie Cassidy love the attitude of her

I loved hearing your review of the first 5 seasons! I just want to say: I agree with others that after season 5 there is a bit of a dip in terms of quality of the plot for a bit. However, there are still some great episodes ahead that should keep you going. I think with the new show runner they were trying to find their footing after Kripke left. Kind of like y'all said how each season after season one just got better and better; the show dips but gets better and better again after season six starts and as a result there are some truly awesome seasons ahead to look forward too. And there is also some awesome performances from the cast I can't wait for y'all to see!

Mary Coelho

Dean is also the most compelling character in my eyes. Misha Collins is such a versatile actor, and both Jensen and Jared have amazing performances. I agree that Genevieve is the best Ruby. Katie Cassidy's performance is more trying to be 'bad-ass' but much less genuine. And Genevieve plays ruby's reveal so well. Even though you're sure she is on their side the whole time, her performance when Lucifer is raised is so well done that now its totally believable she was working against them the whole time. Mark Pellegrino's Lucifer is amazing as well. Basically, I pretty much agree with your whole review which is awesome considering most of my friends who watch supernatural favor Sam's character, like Katie Cassidy more as Ruby, or don't like Castiel for some reason. Also, low-key relieved I agree with y'all cause I've loved this show for so long I would have been sad if you hated the things I loved about it. Anyway, can't wait to see the next watch along!

I actually think Ruby was portrayed perfectly by both actresses. Katie did an amazing job for that version of Ruby and Gen did an amazing job for her version of Ruby. There was the same through line of both being a badass who clearly manipulated the boys, but each added something a little different to make her feel fresh. I think both women fit really well and felt like strong, powerful female characters in a show that hadn't really had any fleshed out before them. I like both versions of Ruby. 🤷🏻‍♀️
