was that Edward Norton in the cage? or is it just me?

Definitely one of my fav episodes of this series. Fun to see Tennant playing with the English and Scottish accent for laughs in this one. I believe it was his choice to go with an English accent for the role, others may correct me on that one. Enjoyable to see Billie having some more fun in this one. I love how their chemistry is building. I've only just seen Torchwood this year. It never interested me previously as I have found spins offs to shows a bit touch and go. It does help to fill in the blanks a bit, but only at the right time. I'm sure you've had or will have plenty of help with that one. Great chat as usual.

I've only watched your comments so far - will go back for the reaction a bit later. But I totally agree. I don't know what was going on with that kung fu bit. It was totally out of place. I got the feeling that one of the directors or writers had really wanted to work on Crouching Tiger and was given permission to dream his dream a little here! Very interesting analysis of David v Chris. You might be right - I'll think about it as we go along. I imagine it's due to a mix of the actors' personal choices and those of the writers. I do think that Chris was more internalised. But we've not seen much of David yet. Apart from that, I love this episode.

Toasted toad I believe you’re correct with that, when searching for this episodes facts I saw that the beginning sequence was apparently inspired by crouching tiger hidden dragon 👍

Aw yeah haha, I caught it at the front when he slipped into Scottish & then was caught off-guard again when the Queen pointed out he'd gone British again lol. I was actually wondering about the accent choice in that moment, remembering Tennant being Scottish. Quite enjoying his chemistry with Billie Piper so far. They just seem so excited to be spending time together haha. As for Torchwood, it's definitely got me curious. I've met a fair amount of Whovians who seem excited about it, but have yet to give it a go. Maybe alongside when we get to an appropriate point to start mixing them in (probably not as reactions, but y'know.. on my own time haha). I don't blame you being hesitant, though. Seems like the truly great spinoffs are the anomalies a lot of the time. Either way, really glad you enjoyed the video :) catch you for the next one!!!

Hahaha I figured we wouldn't be alone re: the Kung Fu Monks, but... thus far it hasn't gotten old reading it 😂 a truly bewildering decision to kick off the episode. Your Crouching Tiger theory seems about the best guess (although now it's got me sitting here wishing for just a completely Kung Fu oriented episode lol - wouldn't be crazy out of the realm).. And I think that's a good word for Chris's take - more internalized. Almost feels to me (John) like this is a somewhat natural progression - second regeneration after the fall of the Time Lords is a bit more open & visible with some of those feelings, perhaps. I gotta imagine people can debate the nuances of the various doctors for days, but I'm quite curious to see how the character/writing/performances all interact as we keep progressing (and regenerating, etc).

Em I think it’s just cause he really liked the film and wanted to pay homage? Kinda want to find him on twitter and ask now 😂😂

Big fan of this episode! I really love the dr and rose’s dynamic, theyre acting like the two friends sitting at the back of class, whispering and cracking jokes to each other all thru the lesson haha. I really liked the creepy setting, i liked all the side characters, in all just a very fun, well put together episode. Although, doctor, PLEASE get better at noticing when rose is kidnapped. thats twice in a row now you havent picked up on it lol. Also whats the deal with the monks, wearing what appears to be orange shaolin monk robes, being all white? Did they travel to china for some martial arts lessons? Idk im white so im in no way any kind of expert, i just thought it was a bit odd? lol. (Rose’s outfit rating this ep: 11/10, love the pink/purple color palette she has, love the boots, and love the crown decal on her shirt, considering she happens to meet the queen this ep)
