The story for this episode had 2 writers on it that never wrote for the show outside of this episode. They needed a filler episode and they did this story, one of the regular show writers did the teleplay. It's why even though I don't care for the episode, I get why it felt the way it did. But this was the last filler episode of S5 These last 10 episodes could be the greatest 10 episode stretch in the entire show's run.

I don't really have anything to say about this episode, not 'cause i don't like it but more because i don't really know what to say :D imo you could just skip the recap on all future episodes not just the one. I find it that most of the time it just ruins things. If you guys forget some details that potentially a recap would've explained i'm sure that we have the answers, we're basically a recap anyways :D

I hear you on the eyeline problem and the voice on the phone problem, but I just went with it. The concept of this episode was obviously that their souls are what other people saw, not their actual appearance. This was a fun episode, and I love it. Makes me laugh. Jared is so good at playing a dumb 17-year-old. The kids were all great. The girl is Sarah Drew, who gained fame in Grey’s Anatomy. My only complaint was how dumb Dean had to be to NOT realize that dude isn’t Sam, could never be Sam, IMPOSSIBLE. The car scene really got to me—come on, Dean 🙄 Otherwise, a funny episode that I bet they had a blast doing. Nice reaction, guys, as always. ✌️

Happy Birthday John! I'm with you guys on not knowing how to feel about the episode, and I've watched it many times over the years. I like it, but I'm not really sure if I should (if that makes sense), and I think that may be because the guest actors did such a good job. The eye line thing still throws me off, and believe me, I'm usually very good at just going with the plot for sci-fi/fantasy shows. I kinda wish they would have had Jared play Gary in Sam's body (like the opening scene) the whole time and vice versa. Also, I agree that Gary is dangerous. The thing that gets me most is his friend died, just murdered by that demon, and he doesn't seem affected by it. That boys parents are going to come home and find his body in the basement. Gary was more concerned about having to go back to his life with his family and finding out that the girl that was possessed liked him romantically before this started. I hope she doesn't anymore because she's looking at some serious therapy in her future from just being friends with him. Anyway, I'm so excited for the next few episodes and the rest of the season! Hope you guys get some well deserved rest.

I think most fans find this episode in the middle - not hating it, not loving it, still somewhat entertaining. In real life, Jared Padalecki is a HUGE Star Wars fan, so it's funny that Gary's "nerdy virgin" clothes and comics are Star Wars. I think the prop dept did that on purpose. :D

I love this episode, but I can see where some might not. I enjoy Gary's actor and the swiftness of the episode. Also, to be fair? They were not in Detroit, so Lucifer has no reason to even try haha. That all said, I think it may feel mostly off because Dean claims to know his brother but goes through many, manyyyy instances of non-Sam behavior where any tertiary person would be baffled. Yet, Dean doesn't notice or really call him on it until the last straw. In Skin, Sam knows it's not Dean in SECONDS. Even though the shapeshifter has his memories. Perhaps Sam simply knows Dean better.

This episode has always brought mixed reviews from the fans. I tend to fall on the not liking it very much side. Sometimes the humorous episodes work and sometimes they don't. Starting with the next episode, you begin my favorite stretch of episodes in the entire series. There's not one dud in the rest of this season. Can't wait to see your reactions!

I seriously do NOT like this episode. It's the worse episode of the season. And I like the Bugs episode a lot more than I like this one. It just felt off in so many ways. I know some people like it, and that's fine. No accounting for tastes. lol The first half of season 15 has several episodes that are not as good as I'd have liked, so for me, season 4 had a better overall first half of a season than 5. What does help is when I'm watching someone who enjoys an episode I don't and who may see things I don't or interpret things differently that help me see an episode in a better light. That's definitely happened a few times.

I think my one thing this episode did for me was highlight how much of a downer Sam has become. We talk about Dean being black and white with regards to hunting, but Sam does too, in his own way. With regards to hunting or having fun. Cant's have both. Or maybe Sam's always been that way. But I like that Dean still tries to have some fun and things that he finds enjoyable to help in the horribleness that makes up a lot of their lives. There were definitely weird things in this episode. Things that didn't seem to be working as they intended. I maybe would have liked.

Yeah, not the best episode, but now that we're past it we can finally get into the meat of the season, YAY!

I will say that John being all excited that it's finally time to watch SPN made my heart smile :) (double episodes would let you watch it more frequently......... :p)

Definitely a Mehpisode. I dont dislike it but I don't love it. I do enjoy the humor bits on this episode and that prospect of calling Lucifer in to take Sam's vessel was really neat it was definitely an exciting turn, but yeah by the end it just felt like a weird side story.
