Not my favourite Episode of this Season and yeah Barbaras League is pretty cheesy with the way they handled that xD Didn''t like it much the first time around but this time I can laugh more then sigh about it. Didn't like the Ed and Lee stuff the first time around. Still not a big fan of it. I just wish that The Riddler could fully be back but with the sheer amount of Characters this Season.. I get it... still want him to get more to do tho. And Rhas is alive again, who would have thought :D I liked how the Face looked with the Hood but all the things with the Demons Head I didn't really care for. But there were funny bits in it like Bruce coming in just to stand around :D or my thought that the Members of the League would just give up EVERYTHING for Barbara.. just against any code they might have - that was just hilarious to me xD

The decision to lean into the cheese helped a lot. Your reference to the Mummy movies was a perfect comparison. Rewatching the episode through this lens made it more enjoyable. I can think of one other future episode that operated in a similar vein, that I also have mixed feelings about. I’m ambivalent about the Riddler and Lee romance, although I appreciate how their evolving relationship is yet another example of the show playing off of the history between characters. It makes this unconventional pairing, at the very least, understandable. About the previous episode, I shared your same criticisms just not nearly to the same degree. I think this season has been on such a hot streak that any deviation is jarring and amplified. Two other things I never got around to mentioning: I’m sad to see Sofia out of commission, but boy did she have a good run. It’s pretty crazy that she survived a headshot, then again, I remember hearing about a guy who was impaled with a pole through the head and was able to function perfectly fine. Biology is crazy. Finally, I don’t know if you know this, but the baby fetish that Penguin’s bookkeeper had is a real thing. The psychology behind it is that it relinquishes the responsibilities of adulthood so you can relive simpler times. Basically nostalgia to the extreme.

This is probably my least episode of the season, I think? I have mixed feelings about some aspects of Barbara's arc over the whole show in some places, though I think the actress does a good job of trying to sell it even in the more weakly-written places, but, yeesh, the female League of Shadows members are a sore spot. I mean--come on, now. The writer's room for this show absolutely could have used some more writers who weren't dudes. I did enjoy the push and pull between Lee and Ed, though, and the way they're both using each other but also clearly into the weird relationship they do have. Have to say, though, Sean Pertwee's action is one of my favorite things in the series, but I really dug how he got to do something a little different during the heist scene here.

haha Its refreshing to know that even a fellow Gotham fan isn't a fan of it either lol. But yeah, I fortunately was able to just sit back, laugh, and enjoy it lol. Kind of like Tom Cruise's The Mummy

I wasnt keen on the idea at first but it was this episode that brought me on board for it just cause Im curious to see how it plays out and FORTUNATELY the actors work well together haha and yeah it sound like everything I thought was silly that they wanted to be COOOOOOLLL was not. Either way, the show is still a hell of a gem!

2021-07-15 04:51:30 I can see why one isn't on board with the Riddler & Lee stuff...in fact I think because of how bold of a move it is helps me gravitate towards it so I may be SLIGHTLY biased just cause of the decision to proceed. "About the previous episode, I shared your same criticisms just not nearly to the same degree. I think this season has been on such a hot streak that any deviation is jarring and amplified. " I think you hit the nail on the head here! Thats why flaws will stand out cause its usually A+ Ohhh whoooaaaa....I assumed it might be real....now how can I get involved in such a group? jkjk

That's true, I didnt really touch on the heist moments, but they were different & exciting. I need to get more acquainted with that directors work!

Oh, that was a typo--'action' for 'acting'. Sean Pertwee is the actor that plays Alfred :D.

I can't remember if participants take it as far as getting their diapers changed after soiling themselves. If there was any chance of converting me, that would be the dealbreaker. I can barely deal with the thought of this happening when I become a senior.

I think Erin Richards acted with her best with the material she was given. However, I still do not like the arc the writers gave her throughout the series. In Season 1, the writers just shuffled her around and then decided "I guess the Ogre will drive her crazy and becomes a villain." I really enjoyed the Pinewood episode in Season 2 because she was on a redemption arc, atoning for all she did to Jim. Only for her to become Penguin's rival in Season 3 and Ra's assistant in the beginning of Season 4.
