I totally agree about Near having a revalation about Mikami being ex Kira . The presentation was on point but how he arrived to that specific conclusion ? Who the fuck knows. Because plot dictates and we need to wrap this up? I honestly really disliked that whole bit , it seemed pseudo clever without any substance , without some kind of logic that back this up. I was a bit surpised you disliked it too ,since youre not harsh on this show as me , lol. I also liked the whole bit about Light vs Near and having innner monologues , i think it was omage to L vs Light in the early episodes , at least visually . And I really really liked the look of this ep, especially the more static shots with music in the backgrounds , I think the holiday spirit and christmas trees contrasted with music was good touch . I interpreted as , most people just really have no clue or dont give a shit whats actually happening in the world. Like you know, a serial killer preteneding to be god and law and having his own cult ,lol. Misa vs Takeda , honestly i was anticipating to hate this bit , because of Misa , but her giving no fucks and trying to bait Takeda felt like a breath of fresh air in her character writing , like shes doing that on her own volition and not as number one brainless fan of Light . I cant respect that , despite her reasoning why shes doing that , well its still bad . So my interpretation why Mikami went against Lights/Kiras/Gods orders and killed a person on his own. I think his ego was bruised when Takeda was introduces, and he felt a lot less special. A god speaking to him and him only and having that trust , must have been a good confidence boost and just all around special treatment . But now theres third party and i dont think he likes sharing the attention . As far as heavy anime openings go, i dont think theres heavier than this , but few come to mind . https://youtu.be/7tP1OODyPmY?t=1 same studio and director as death note , so you can see the similarities https://youtu.be/2edBgIH7y68?t=1 back in the day , when i watched this show , this particular OP felt heavy as fuck , lol. especially the end bit https://youtu.be/uMeR2W19wT0 this one is very iconic and very popular among people show watch anime https://youtu.be/Rm8UjBAS3cs this has a pretty unique screamo + autotune combo , fantastic show tho. lol, i hope i did not spam too much

2021-07-15 04:54:17 Hahaha I suppose that's fair 😅for my money this show has been pretty consistently well-written, but if I've got a gripe, I'll certainly bring it up. And yeah, while I really enjoyed the visual aspects a lot, it didn't seem like they attempted to be clever at all with that bit. One of the few times it really seemed like something happened when it did just for the sake of moving thins forward. It's like I know Near *can* figure this out, but... yeah. Agree on the aesthetics too. The Christmas tree shots actually struck me quite a lot. Been a little while since I really felt a sense for the outside world here. And it's not much, obviously, but those little, quite moments & the decorations did bring up a sort of soft, but eerie contrast with what's GOING ON. Seems somehow foreign now.. And the dueling monologue rising thru the tower I thought was a cool way to continue that motif. Misa and Mikami both seem like they're going a bit rogue, potentially. Or, yeah, at very least acting more toward their own self interests out of - as you suggested - bruised pride. Misa, ESPECIALLY 😅but I agree that her confrontation of Takeda was a nice turn. She's been relegated to the same type of dynamic for so long as a character; even if her choices are brash & impulsive, I'm hoping in some way she breaks out of this (or at least continues with this autonomy until somebody deletes her 😅). Quite curious about Mikami in these next several episodes. If he goes rogue in any fashion, it's gonna be calculated I'd imagine. And no worries haha, not spamming. I'm excited to check these out & have my face melted lol.

Phew, finally caught up with these reactions. Glad you seem to still be enjoying it, since many people I know kinda checked out after L's death haha Here's the point where I can really see why people don't like the second half of the show as much. Near is clever, yes, but we don't really see his inner thoughts in details. No clear explanation as to why he was able to figure something out. So the show overall feels less... intellectual? and becomes much more like a typical anime with bare-bones plot-driven answers to things. Had no idea Takeda would show up again because I can remember literally nothing after Ep. 25 from my previous viewing (years ago) 😂

2021-07-15 04:54:17 Ahh yeah haha, I can see that 😅still enjoying the show over here, but there is a definite difference between the two chunks, pre & post-L. Generally speaking, I like Near.. was generally intrigued by the introduction of him & Mello, although I'd maybe have liked to peer into Mello's world a bit more.. And yeah, this episode felt like it got especially lazy with the Near cracking the Mikami detail without really immersing in the process of how he did it. Really felt like a "plot-needs-to-move" decision there. It's fun to watch Near & co. get closer and foil Light's plans, but something feels a bit less involved in the approach to the character development and the intellectual cat/mouse puzzle side. Takeda showing back up was a fun surprise - really had to remind myself lol. Still holding out for a good finale, got 2 eps left now, so fingers crossed!!!
