Happy Tuesday, peeps!  Y'all ready for some Fullmetal?!

The stakes grow ever higher as Olivier makes her way to central to meet with Führer Bradley!  We also check in with Hawkeye and Mustang before diving deep into the past as Father thinks back to...  a simpler time..

This one's pretty intense and also.. pretty trippy!

Join me, won't you?!

Not sure about other shows, but the recent focus on feet is alluding to the fact that Selim could be watching them from the shadows.

I love this episode! I felt horrible for Hohenheim the first time I watched this. He unknowingly wiped out his entire civilization in one night. Hohenheim, and subsequently Ed and Al, are the only Xerxians left to exist, which is why they all have golden hair and golden eyes.

Jesus that opening song is fantastic lmao There goes Olivier standing in the fire and saying whatever it takes to stay alive. She has such a high opinion of her soldiers that she knows they can take care of themselves. The close up on Hawkeye's feet was to to imply that she knows Selim might be listening to their conversation through the shadows. This episode gave us a lot. The mystery of what Hoenheim actually is and who/what is father have been looming over the series this entire time. The fact that their origins tie back to Xerxes makes things a bit more interesting because Ed visited the ruins about 20 episodes ago. This also goes into the myths of the sage of the east and the sage of the west that they spoke about while they were at the ruins. The post credit scene was important because Ed said he didn't wanna see a large philosopher stone while his father is exactly that. I love this episode. It was a necessary pit stop to make before we get deeper into this story.

2021-07-15 05:21:40 Seriously!! I feel like each time Hohenheim shows up they make me feel something different for him - and this was definitely the most I just flat-out had to sympathize, because HOOOOOLY SHIT 😦😵 And I hadn't quite put that together, but that makes a lot of sense re: the hair & eyes. Definitely noticed the emphasis they put on those colors here, but looking at it through that lens, that they're the last of the Xerxians, it's sort of all-the-more fucked up and heart-breaking. Consistently impressed by the level of thought and detail they put into this show. Great episode!! 😊

2021-07-15 05:21:40 It is haha. I'm bummed I can't let it play in its full glory for the videos. Olivier is such a badass haha. I love that level of conviction she has in combination with her faith in the Briggs crew. I'm both very nervous & very excited to see what happens with all them next 😅and that makes a lot of sense re: the shadow. I'm gonna have to remember to be suspicious of all shadows moving forward lol. It was fascinating to finally get that glimpse into both Hohenheim's past and the origin of Father. I love the way they're able to space these details out and toy with the mystery that way. And that's right!!! When they're helping Ross escape and Ed finds the crumbling transmutation circle! Damn haha. This definitely seems like a show I'm gonna want to go back through one of these days to catch all the different through-lines and little details. I seem to remember them discussing that as well, the sage of the east vs. the sage of the west - I always love when they dive into the philosophy and spiritual sides of alchemy/alkahestry on this show. Very excited to see what we learn if/when they're able to decode Scar's brother's book.. And damn haha - when you put it that way (re: Hohenheim essentially being a giant philosopher's stone), their relationship becomes that much more heartbreaking. Can't imagine how Ed/Al are going to react if/when they learn all this.. All in all, definitely with you, though - great episode! Crazy excited to keep going!! :)
