Happy New Year! It’s episodes like this that makes me wonder how you resist watching the next one immediately. Lol

Somedays it’s veeery difficult 😅 especially during this latest batch of storylines. Although, in the age of bingeing, I’ve kinda come to appreciate the anticipation of waiting a week again, so it works out haha. And thanks! Hope you had a Happy New Year as well!! 😊

Scar really stood out to me in this episode. I love his character quite a bit. I really like how he knows he's doing these awful things, but never makes excuses for them. When Winry approaches him and asks him the question he just accepts that he did it. While he's killed a lot of people, it's clear that he does regret killing her parents. That quick moment after he answers the question when he looks away and clenches his fist is a strong moment for him. Miles had a pretty cool moment too that I think goes unnoticed. When he first sees the chimeras he says "they're probably a result of some ungodly experiment." To me that small statement screams something that only an Ishvalan would say. Considering he's only part Ishvalan I think it's cool that he has some of that cultural identity instilled in him. Winry is also great here. The writers find ways to keep her relevant to the story. All she did was ask Scar a question and the entire tone of the episode shifted. She has her best moments when she's opposite of Scar and it looks like we're going to get more of that in the next episode.

Oh yeah! Scar's been a really nice surprise in this show, especially thinking back to where we came from with him. Love the way they've drawn his philosophy and growth over time and the little things that come out in the direction of moments like that. And this time, especially, it hit me how much all the different motivations and relationships clash (especially since they *need* Scar). Really loved that moment where he just owns up to it, though. Really speaks a lot about the quality of his character. And I hadn't connected that dot with Miles, but that's an interesting point! I definitely wouldn't put it past them to hide a sort of subtle allusion like that. I was half wondering if there was going to be a more focal moment between him and Scar touching on their shared roots somehow. For whatever reason, I've really come to love Major Miles as well. I appreciate a lot what they've been doing with Winry over time. It's funny, because even though we don't see her a ton in terms of sheer quantity of episodes, she still feels like a main character. Really enjoy the way she's been able to dip in and out of the main plot for different reasons. Definitely have appreciated all her encounters with Scar thus far. Like I said above haha, it's getting increasingly hard not to binge these 😅but I'm really thrilled to have you following along with me. Thought this was a fantastic episode overall. Really excited for more!!
