So I will admit I love the Predator franchise more than Alien so I revisit it more frequently than I do this one and I can't believe I didn't have any remembrance in Aliens that a certain actor also had a co-starring role in Predator 2 and I can't believe I forgot that 🤦🏻‍♀️ and I call myself a fan what a travesty 😜😅🤣🤣

Ripley is such a great protagonist. She's incredibly competent but still compassionate. There's pretty much never a scene where you question why she is doing what she is doing. She takes charge pretty much immediately after contact with the Xenomorphs (aliens) and shows solid leadership. Smaller details like leaving the flares as a trail are also a great touch. There were a couple of scenes that weren't in this version that I really wish were: - Early in the film you see the colony before they are attacked and infested by the Xenomorphs. Newt with her parents go out to the derelict alien ship, and her father get's face hugged. I think the scene plays after the Corporate guy says that there are "Maybe 60... 70 families." - During Ripley's debrief at Gateway Station in orbit around Earth, she's told that her daughter had died of old age while she was drifting in cryosleep. Ripley lamented that she had promised her daughter that she would be home for her birthday, I believe she said it was her 11th birthday, which puts a bit more emphasis on her motherly instinct with Newt. - There's also one scene when they had sealed themselves off, and the Xenomorphs are coming at them through the ceiling, where they initially are running down the tunnel that they had sealed off. The marines had two auto-turrets with I think 500ish rounds each set up on the other side of the door in the tunnel. I think the scene added a lot of tension as it cuts between the turrets shooting, and the protagonists watching as the ammo count drops down to zero. When I was younger, I was too afraid to watch this saga, but when my brother eventually convinced me to watch Aliens first because it wasn't as scary as the first. Because of this Aliens is probably my favorite of the saga, but as an adult watching Alien I have a great appreciation for the suspense that movie brings. Great reaction, look forward to Alien 3, hopefully?

I hope so! I think Alien 3 is highly underrated. The effects are a bit wonky, but there's a lot to love! - PLD
