it’s been a while since I watched this one but I actually think the movie does a really good job of hitting several beats/conveying information. like the vulture song is supposed to be for kids but it’s about what they’re thinking answering the question Syd asked right before they started “I wonder what they’re thinking” as well as the scene with all the sloths. the movie starts out with Syd feeling unappreciated and so a group of worshipping sloths asking him to be their leader is a fun way to allow Diego to stress his importance in the herd. I also think the possums aren’t just to appeal to kids. Like definitely some but both Manny and Ellie are traveling with their found family and I feel like that’s on purpose. For different reasons they’re by themselves and either “take in” or are taken in by a completely different species that offers them acceptance and companionship. which sounds a little dramatic💀 but it’s just super cool to pick out all of the really clever things that the writers chose to do for a kids movie

i LOVED possoms (opossum?) after this movie. Like, i was obsessed as a kid lol. Crash & Eddie are my favorite characters tbh. Along with Diego.
