Content

The big news for this week is that we are starting to move forward on developing an app, to make content easily available across mobile, web, and smart TV systems. But not just Forgotten Weapons content; educationally-focused historical firearms content from ten or twelve different channels. To be clear, this will not mean that I stop uploading to YouTube, but it will be a central hub where you can get all this sort of material properly curated and done without regard for YouTube's weird and capricious rules (and without any ads). It's a big project that I've been wanting to do for a while, and it's now starting to come together. I actually just had a call with one of the channels in between filming and uploading this... :)

In other news, I've got a trip planned to film a sneak peak at to cool new firearms tech in about 3 weeks, and I got the filming done on the Carbon Research carbon fiber silencers (neat stuff). So...stay tuned!

Definitely interested, unfortunately cost is very relevant as some are supporting on 2 or more fronts now. I would be onboard if I can.

$5 a month, I'm in.

Do you have any plans for a patron meetup while you're in Colorado?

I love the app idea, I'd gladly pay a few dollars a month for something like that. I wouldn’t be VERY surprised if the next thing that violates YT rules is the firing of weapons, so I think the conditions there for gun content is just going to get worse.

I like the Idea of an app. How much would a subscription cost?

Now I understand. It is not a variation on that, I just mistyped.

Depending on how stringent the no-politics thing is, it could cause creators to self-censor further on their other platforms than they would normally do, rather than do two takes. Like how some stuff would rather just be Kosher-food than manage two products.

A good idea and I'm glad you're expanding it out to other gun centric creators. Considering you are already a member of floatplane and I assume by extension others could be, would it not be better to continue to use their infrastructure and app to host these videos? Getting more of the gun community onto floatplane would attract more attention to their already established platform.

I like the concept but as I don't watch either on a smartphone notŕ have ANY tv set.. I stick with patreon or the homepage or surplused.

You definitely have one of the best track records with April Fools jokes. I sent the Municion L.M.P. 1889 one to my French History professor when it came out and he fell for it until the very end lol. Looking forward to what you come up with this year

Does it have a name yet?

Love the idea. Anything that provides a viewing alternative to YT. Even Patreon is still YT. I was hoping for a Utreon app for my TV or Xbox, but this is better.
