I previously filmed one of the Model 1884 Luxembourg Gendarmerie Nagant revolvers, but I got my hands on one with the original bayonet, and I wanted to show you that. These are extremely rare revolvers, especially with the matching original bayonets.

I guess the bayonet is good for encouraging prisoners to hurry it up?

very cool piece of history

Thank you for showing us such a variety of rare and unusual arms, and how they function. While many of us may consider the practicality of a bayonet on a handgun to be of dubious utility, saying that a 5 1/4" sharply pointed steel spike is less than lethal does not show respect to the blade. The question is whether the Gendarm used this bayonet to fight, or just to intimidate.

A dreaded assault revolver. Thank goodness that it doesn’t have the shoulder thing that goes up. 😉

Great history lesson on this truly Forgotten Weapon. Your videos should be in the Smithsonian so that the information won't be lost in the event that society goes Road Warrior. Of course the images would have to be converted to a hand cranked nickelodeon with your voice on a wax drum. What do you think about that?

As a person who stood before an angry mob in 1968 with a M1 Garand and a bayonet, I can attest to the intimidation factor. It works.

Clearly the only thing missing is a shoulder stock!
