"Presentism", Whiskey, Clips, & Museums: A Chat With Ashley Hlebinsky

http://www.patreon.com/ForgottenWeapons https://www.floatplane.com/channel/ForgottenWeapons/home Cool Forgotten Weapons merch! http://shop.forgottenweapons.com I recently met up with Ashley Hlebinsky, former curator of the Cody Firearms Museum, and we sat down for a rambling discussion about the intersection of firearms and museums, mostly. Among other things, we will talk about her consulting work with the L.A. Police Museum and the Browning family, the changing direction of mainstream museums, testifying in court cases, and much more. Oh, and a rye whiskey face-off between Kyro and Thumb Butte! You can reach Ashley at theguncode@gmail.com, and find her on Instagram at @historyinheels . Contact: Forgotten Weapons 6281 N. Wow! How could one not enjoy the video? This was more like a "fireside chat" with two of the best people to listen to regarding guns, museums and the culture around them. By the way, if either(or both) of you are going to be at the J.M. Davis Museum in Claremore which is 15 miles from where I live, please let me know as I would love to meet you and thank you for your great work. Thanks again for your great work and a very entertaining and informative video.

Ashley is always a great interview. It's always amazing to meet these people in video who are passionate about what they do and want to share what they know. I can see a lot of museums or collections basically becoming an academic's personal collection and that goes against what a museum truly is. The purpose is to archive and share preserved knowledge with the public.

nah. npt only to her. compare everything to either guns or ammo.-worked security in a rather well known art museum untill recently. can follow the whole issue a littlebit. other topic but same problems partly even worser, believe it or not. always fun listen to her behind the curtain stories.

Uh-oh. Video is down! Was fun to see the two of you discuss some of the sort comings of modern museum work, especially as it pertains to objective “reality” and subjective “Presentism”.

It's down because I scheduled it just this evening, to post tomorrow morning. Once I set the scheduled publish time, it's no longer viewable (not sure why YouTube does it that way...).

That explains a bit, haha. It is strange that it’s handled in that way. Maybe they skim through it since they didn’t when you posted?🤔

Imagine being a 2A proponent and working with the LA police.
